    I've really enjoyed this episode! Thank you! I feel that Robert Greene's words on narcissism are now more relevant than 3 yeas ago, when this episode was released, as narcissism has become such a trendy word and the new villain

    Tristan Harris hosted a phenomenal documentary on Netflix about social media. Very informative! It changed the way I think about these platforms after I watched it. I actually watched it twice. It’s something you can watch more than once and learn something new each time. There was actually a depressing side to it. A lot of these people that are on the documentary once worked for Facebook, Google, Pinterest, as well as Twitter. I found many of these former employees to be a bit tormented. Once they left these companies they realized the guilt and remorse that came along with a lot of these underhanded seductive ways that they actually helped create to lure us in as an audience to these platforms. I felt badly for them. They probably earned a good living but there was a heavy price tag of a weighed down conscience that came attached.

    Narcissism is not a normal human behavior. I mean "narcissist" as described by psychologists. These are dangerous people, if you become a target. You won't understand the misery and chaos they can cause in your life unless you experience it personally. I was in a 5 year "battle" with a narcissist. I almost lost everything. **Don't make light of what a narcissist is and the damage they cause to others.**

      In “Laws of Human Nature,” and in some of his videos and likely other books, he stresses the danger of dealing with extreme narcissists. Stay Away if possible. But he also points out our self-absorbed human nature and discusses this in detail, and through stories, as a spectrum that all but the deepest narcissists can overcome by practicing awareness outside themselves.

      Ofc it is a normal human behavior. My friend, We all have the same brain with the same possible outcomes. What he explains it that some are more of and others are less. Its like with patience, you are patien. But how patient are you? We say it as if it was fixed or something, but its not, some are more, some are less. How you call it is unnecessary, but that its normal is not deniable. That self fixation is over 20 million years old in our ancestors. So its not cultural or a disease, its a normal by-product of evolution. Your perception of it makes everything. And by all means, he explained in the book in great detail hoe to deal with narcissist, he has sources given, of over 300 books of neuroscientists and psychologists which he only quotes. So either you are speaking against 300, degree having and neuro science studying people just because of your own perception of an emotional event which definitley lets you NOT react rational or see it objectivley, or you just start to see that it is in fact normal human behavior.

    • @Ikuya.miraculous
      @Ikuya.miraculous 23 дня назад

      Sorry, for that im so late.
      But yes, in fact he even said in the book that most of the time your brain subconciously allready has an excise for your concious like im angry, or he is just bad etc etc, and that you enevrt truly CONCIOUSLY ignore envy, but rather not see it from the beginning. But that in fact you can measure it in neuro science and see it from signs, that its actually envy. And he wrote about the signs of it etc in the chapter of it.
      Hope it helped :)

      Yeah it's actually a really good tell. Actually ask them if they are a narcissist and watch how they react to it. If they are they flip it and say something like I'm no narcissist. When really it's a spectrum and we're all on it.

    Regarding the comments on marketing - That makes me think of Bill Hicks' bit on marketing and for people in marketing to "kill themselves". I find it particularly disgusting with sports betting targeted at young men in Australia through sporting bodies like the AFL.
