I started learning Portuguese mainly because I love Brazilian music and because I love so many Brazilian mma fighters. This video is too perfect for me haha
You will see tons of MMA fighters on my channel. What type of Brazilian music do you like? Maybe I can incorporate some of the stuff you like in future videos.
Never stop making these plz bro
Will do!!! :)
Obrigado a vc, Vincent!!
Maneiro ver vocês americanos querendo aprender a nossa língua, eu também estou começando a me interessar em aprender inglês justamente por causa do UFC
Sou Francês lol
Your channel is very unique and helpful for Americans because you have a profound understanding of both American English and Brazilian Portuguese. Bravo!
Thank you and glad you're finding it useful!!
I’m kinda shocked right now.
Nice Portuguese dude.
Very good. Im brazilian and he is absolutely correct in his analysis.
This is golden content for learning Portuguese. Muito obrigado mermao.

100% you will! Any fighters in particular you’d like to see?
@@DecodingWordswithAndrewAlex Pereira please! 🙏🏻
@@morganmartinez8420 stay tuned 😉
Great video. I always had more trouble understanding Charles Olivera than other Brazilians. Now I understand he uses a lot of slang.
Glad it was helpful! Yes, fighters in general are usually really tough to understand for Portuguese learners because they use a lot of nonstandard speech that you're not going to learn in textbooks.
I'm trying to learn portuguese because it's where my father is from,, These videos will be an awesome supplement to my learning. Your explanations and pronunciation is awesome
Great to have you here and glad to be a part of your Portuguese journey!
Hi I'm from Brasil and youe video is amazing !!!
Thank you Gustavo!
Dam. This adds another level of complexity to the language 😅 glad you’re making us aware though.
Yes, this is especially true of fighters since they use tons of "hood" slang :)
Está video foi muito fixe. Eu vivo no Portugal e estou aprender ambos português. You got a subscriber 😊
Obrigado!! e seja bem-vindo!!
Man your videos are amazing, keep up the great work. I started learning portuguese in february and you really helping me out. You earned a subscriber 👌🏻
Thank you, that means a lot! Let me know if you there’s anything that you find confusing about the language and I’ll consider making a video about it. Or just any famous Brazilian that you’d like to see me do a break down of. Thanks again!
Mesmo aqui! Adoro aprender português brasileiro da vida real. Brigada!
Amazing class.....!!!!!!
Im having a portuguese class, and im a native speaker from Brasil 😂😂
Appreciate the content. I’ve been learning it for a few years now and I’m a UFC fan. Charles is always hard to understand since he speaks so fast 😹
Yeah, speed is definitely a factor, but fighters in general (especially Charles) are not easy for a Portuguese learner to understand because they speak what I like to call "hood Portuguese"...which is completely different from the formal stuff they teach in apps and textbooks.
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew lol yeah I speak Spanish with the Nicaraguan dialect and listen to a lot of Puerto Rican artist so I know about the hood style sound 😹. I’m going to Brasil this week and now have to use all the portugues I know for UFC301 😎
Yeah, a Portuguese learner trying to understand Brazilian fighters is like a Spanish learner trying to understand Bad Bunny :)
Great great channel! Keep up the good work!
é nóis!!
keep making these. This was fire
Thanks Sean, let me know if there's anyone you have in mind!
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew just more Charles Oliveira content like this. It’s helping me learn Portuguese! I keep saying “Coracao Bomando”😂
@@seanfirat9019 lol for sure!
Great video. Excellent format and content.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Andrew, that was exactly what I have been looking for please continue making videos. Best wishes from Turkey.
Will do Fatih!
this is literally what i wanted thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!!
excellent
Glad you liked it!
Definetly one of the best Language-Channels on RUclips. Thanks for your work keep it up !
Thanks Nurettin, I really appreciate that!!
What a great breakdown, man! Shout out from Curitiba, piá kkkkk 🤙
Que saudades de Curitiba!! Good to see so many Brazilians here trying to learn Portuguese kkkkkkkkkkk
you’re awesome bro
I appreciate it brotha!
dude! love these videos! its great to find content that interests me when learning Portuguese. There's many full length podcasts with fighters like Oliveira, Pereira, Teixeira on RUclips but They never have Portuguese subtitles. If you could do this on your channel I think it would be awesome!
Thanks man, appreciate it! If you want full length podcasts transcribed in Portuguese, I’d suggest finding someone on Fiver to do it (I’ve done it for Italian videos)….it would be pretty expensive though for a full podcast (it’s a LOT of work to do something like that). Even with the transcript, though, it would be hard to explain everything they say since fighters tend to use so much slang and non-standard speech, cultural references, as well as fight-specific terms. It’s hard enough trying to make a 5 minute video like mine 😂 my channel is really first and foremost a Portuguese learning channel, but you’ll see me using lots of figures from the MMA world as examples. More to come!
Just remembered that there's this Instagram account that you can follow that has subtitles of short interview bits with MMA fighters instagram.com/connect_cast/
Informative Mano
Obrigado mermão!!
This the kind of teaching im looking for since im a self though, after learning Spanish..
Glad you find it useful! :)
Man, I am really liking your chanel.
Glad to hear it! Are you just beginning on your Portuguese journey?
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew Yeah, I am just starting. My Spanish is fairly good; so learning Portuguese could be slightly easier for me.
@@rentaroominnyc awesome!! My channel is perfect for you then :) I’m working on a long form tutorial all about Portuguese verb tenses and conjugations which will teach you pretty much everything you need for everyday conversations…stay tuned!
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew Ok great. I understand 80% of formal Portugués through guessing because it’s so strikingly similar to Spanish. My problem is the day to day conversation, the street language. I like the fact that you are pushing more of the coloquial Portugués. Take your time, I will be waiting for the tutorial.
@@rentaroominnyc this is exactly why I created this channel…the vast majority of Portuguese learning materials out there teach the standard, textbook form. My channel focuses solely on how people actually speak in the real world, which as you can see from my videos, is a whole different world.
Você fazer uma tradução correta dele sera show! Valeu!
You have to do one with Alex Perriera
already have!!
OMG I have been looking for videos like this for both French and Portuguese!! Ahhh how have I not found you!! Hablo español, também falo português do Brasil ! Learning French and Russian but might switch to Italian! I am liking and subscribing this is awesome!
Awesome man, glad you find them useful :) more coming soon!
I'd argue falar is not more or less informal than dizer. Falar often implies you are talking to someone while dizer could be just talking in the sense of conveying information regardless of who the recipient is. This being said it's a very esoteric difference and they can be used interchangeably most of the time. "Falar com" vs "dizer a/para" is like "talking" vs "telling". Anyway, nice video bro!
Thanks for the comment bro! Agreed, "falar" in and of itself is not more or less informal than "dizer", but in the context that Charles uses it ("falar para" in the sense of "to tell") it's definitely something you see way much more in colloquial speech. In formal, written contexts like newspaper articles you will much more likely see "dizer a" used to express "to tell"...i.e. "Familiares disseram ao jornal que...."
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew yes that is true, good point. I stand corrected!
Kkk obrigado mano, tamo junto!
mano, vc é muito pika
valeu irmão!
