Neither one of those should have been called a foul. It's just the NBA doing their best impression of the NFL. Piss poor calls throughout the game. Refs took that game from the cavs.
@@Joshua_Szymczak The foul at 1:00 was because the defender put his feet on JC's landing spot, not because of the hand contest. It's an illegal Zaza defense. 😂
Clearly he's a magician he knows how to foul his defenders beyond the arc. he has a current total of 19 4pt possession or more this season. Risky but effective.
It's always easier to say afterwards, but probably those two missed/forced 3s by Donovan were a mistake. Like Garland tried to show him, there was more than enough time on the clock to still come back with 2s. But anyway, two very smart plays by JC to get his team the win.
The second foul I'd give or take. It's a tough call. The first one though... Just how much leeway does the shooter get on a 3? Clarkson might as well have been playing hop scotch at that point. A flagrant on top of that? Refs ruining games once again.
They're getting so much bolder now that they can just throw players out the game if they so much as raise an eyebrow at them in response to a bad call.
Bro I was thinking the same thing, I saw just a lil push off from JC for him to shoot that 3 and lavert barely touched him and called it a flagrant ?? This is why I don’t bet on games no more nor play the bookie because these games are already payed for, just like the super bowl coming up, it’s already paid for who’s gonna win, the natural competition is out the window
I believe it was called an Flagrant 1 not because of contact but Clarkson's space to land after taking the shot was invaded by the defender. Doing so can lead to serious ankle injuries which is why the Nba is pretty strict about that.
@@neroz06m.20 clarkson was shooting a 3-pointer and lavert was halfway between the 3-point line and the elbow. like...what do you mean flagrant 1??? 25 years of basketball experience and im flabbergasted man. i wish someone could explain how is that a flagrant.
A lot of things to say about this. - When did Jordan Clarkson become so cold, damn - I love Donovan Mitchell going back to his old team after the game, good guy :) - What the hell is Collin Sexton wearing.
How is that a foul and let alone a flagrant? 1:15 He jumps from behind the line and almost landed at the top of the key, that is a lot of distance to be considered a normal shot motion
I mean, the shot motion is normal. He's too weak with type of fast step back to launch the 3 he has to kick his feet forward. However, if he takes that type of shot then he is jumping into the defenders space and it should not be called a foul let alone a flagrant. When people land like that their body is angled and there is little concern for them rolling their ankle because they are falling to the ground. The refs/league just don't understand. The flagrant in that case is made for situations that are dangerous for the jump shooter, which is when they jump straight up and down.
clarkson's jumper landed into LeVert's landing space on that 2nd one. how do the refs expect a defender to defend a jump shooter when they land 4-5 feet past where they took the shot?
this is today's nba. refs artificially making games close. if the jazz were up, the refs probably would have called an offensive foul on clarkson for kicking his legs out or leaning back into levert.
@@yasso2031 the new rule is when the defender lands in the shooter's landing space. Clarkson shot a three and landed 5 feet inside the 3 point line hahahaha a complete joke.
