OMG, this comment was 5 years ago, thank you for bringing me memories Jord, I’m actually a Syrian citizen, and since my comment and before, I haven’t seen Syria because we cant enter it, anyway, I really hope you’ll enjoy your trip to my hometown, my beloved city Damascus, and I really hope you’ll be giving me feedback on your trip at this comment, wish you the best
Hey welcome and yes tourists were allowed to go from 2018 I think but then the virus situation happened so once it is safe I will be visiting Damascus Aleppo lakatia and tartus. I have many Syrian friends
What a beautiful video, thank you much for filming the historic old city monuments. I couldn't find a video giving the real sense of how my city is except yours was quite close to warm my heart after years of missing every corner of the narrow streets you walked by. I hope this video never gets deleted. Thank you again
@Lostinthebigworld I'm Canadian - any building over 100 years old is historic to us, it's hard to wrap our minds around buildings that are thousands of years old
Hi. i was born and lived in Syria Damascus until I was 30. i loved this video. The last time i visited Syria was in 2010 and felt quite emotional when i watched it. Thanks
Thanks so much for sharing yr trip . I was in Damascus about 15 yrs ago for about 4 months visiting friends and i miss it there so much . One thing i didn't know was about John the Baptist ..very interesting . Very beautiful shots tks again !!
I too hope that peace is restored in Syria. It's a real shame that the oldest city in the world is being slowed destroyed and desegregated for something as contrived as religion and politics.
thanks for posting, that was very nice!! one note, a lot of the things you saw in Syria were specific to a certain time period (the four day eid). Like the excessive traffic in aleppo, the slaughtering of animals in lattakia and the choir in damascus, if go there in any other time things might seem quite different
@@riorio745 yeah it is But when u are in aleppo you will hear some bombings since its near the province of idlib which is currently the last city that needs to be liberated from the terrorists backed by turkey , sooo Yes
Long live Damascus, one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. I will never forgive David Cameron (my country's ex-PM) for wanting to interfere in Syria and risk completely destroying it with his incompetence. Long live Damascus, long live the Syrian people. Love from England x
Dear that was amazing, i heard that there are 7 gates located in Old Damascus have you seen that, i came to know that Christianity has deep roots in Old Damascus especially old churches.
Nice video. About John the Baptist, most people believe that his tomb in Umayyad Mosque, Damascus, this is the proof en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_the_Baptist.
Wow this looks great. That restaurant at the end was a pretty amazing little spot you found. Too bad the region has become a war zone. Real shame and flaw of humanity. Damascus is one of the oldest cities in the world. For it to be destroyed over petty human quarrels like religion and politics is the real crime.
Game Player yeah I heard about that somewhere, however on the back of the mosque there's a very old David star which indicates a Jewish origin of the building. .
Viktor Hartt The sixth star is a Symbol of the Syrian and Mesopotamian civilization thousands of years ago The Jews made the sixth star a symbol of David because they were Canaanites and Syria was the greater part of the land of Canaan. The sixth star can be seen in many Syrian monuments such as Ishtar and Assur and Haddad !
Viktor Hartt On the back of the mosque there was a mosaic wall depicting the face of Jesus Christ and several years ago they found there traces of Aramaic God Haddad
She started calling everything funky when she visited the the last mosque they saw where they separated women from the men inside the mosque ha how funny she started getting kinda mad and calling everything funky.😄
Thanks for a quick tour to Damascus. I think middle easter poeple are so good nice unlike what media wants one to believe.

Damascus Grand Mosque is over 1000 years old while Abu Dhabi Grand Mosque is barely 8 years old !

It wasn't mosque
It was an Aramean Temple ( haddad, the old aramean God )
