Great discussion and education for me: Living in Australia, New Zealand and Thailand our currencies have already gone to Hell against Gold. Many retiree-Americans in Thailand have to wear lead-diving belts so they don't float away - being so light with the $US in Thailand - I ask them sometimes "maybe you should look at swapping some of that paper for Gold?" - most "look at me like a dog that's just been shown a card-trick" (Bill Hicks) - but thank Heavens I didn't suggest to buy the small miners - as I did.
Some people love the mining stocks! Don't forget them! Why do approximately 7 billion people and almost every government like gold and clamor to get it?! Don't say hate, say they are dumb! The miners have broken out, I took profits too early on some of my positina. I don't think I would buy at these valuations, just look at Franco Nevada and Agnico, they have both made quite a move.
Franco nevada is around or actually under it’s average of price for the period starting in 2020. With gold at 15% above the monthly maximum it had in 2020

I would say gold is 2nd most useful, you are correct. silver is the most electrically conductive element, the most thermally conductive element, and the most reflective element. Gold, however, is the must ductile and malleable metal, and can never corrode, where's silver does tarnish, but doesn't rust away
