Saw this when it first aired and it took my love of GBV to another level. Watching today it's just as good. They're playing loud here. What a great rock band.
Also saw them years ago, at an infamous show in Trenton, where Bob simply could not stand up, and the show ended prematurely. The band sat him in a chair, but it didn't work.
The current lineup is their best ever. Nate wasnt great.... got even drunker than Bob and sloppier than Mitch. I'd take Bobby Bare Jr over Nate any say.
Ron seems to to think you need to buy a ticket to watch TV...poor trolling, Ron, there'll be another bus along shortly, see if you can remember to breath and place one foot in front of the other just as it arrives...
Robert Pollard is the Paul McCartney of indie rock. If there were any justice in this world GBV would have two dozen gold records.
"In their final television appearance ever*."
* where no one fell on their ass.
Were you in Asbury Park? lol
streams on yahoo screen dont count as TV
Namely att. Greg Demos!
One of the greatest rock bands. Robert Pollard reminds me late bloomers are a thang
Late b(l)oomers with Gen X pretensions.
Still can’t believe any band could go out with such a perfect album…only to eventually rebrand and pump out another 20+ albums.
why does this song have to be so perfect?
His voice sounds so good on this performance.
probably a little less drunk than usual
20 years ago still inspiring me
14 years ago. Stands the test of time.
16 .... and it keeps getting better with every listen
Indeed
'Half Smiles' is such a great album but OMG(!) this reminds me that it's already been out for 13 frickin' years!
One of their best songs ever, beautifully constructed and played.
Bob's voice has that raspy, weathered, leathery quality. So good.
His voice smells of leather bound books and rich mahogany.
I watch this particular video a lot.
Damn, Guided By Voices! Back at it again in 2016!
Tour dates coming! DC, NYC, Boston, New Haven! Nothing for Philly yet.
Phenomenal song by a phenomenal band.
Saw this when it first aired and it took my love of GBV to another level. Watching today it's just as good. They're playing loud here. What a great rock band.
hungover and hungry to fix it
A miracle cure for my sorrow
Saw them a few weeks before this show...reminds me of how great they sounded then...fabulous line up : )
A real rock band
this should have a million hits-whats wrong w/ the world?
Nothing its our special thing
@@chuckabbate5924 *Everything but it's our special thing
i guess it's kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good place to watch new movies online?
@Forest Milo Flixportal :D
@Melvin Erik Thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service :) I really appreciate it!!
Hard to believe that the reformed "classic line-up" has now disbanded.
Saw them in Philly & NYC. Missed AP, but saw the video!
Also saw them years ago, at an infamous show in Trenton, where Bob simply could not stand up, and the show ended prematurely. The band sat him in a chair, but it didn't work.
+Big Jake I was there. Bob was beyond fucked up. Glad I saw them later at the TLA on South St in Philly.
Thanks for reposting this. I was crushed when it disappeared!
So glad they changed their mind and reunited... hopefully for good! ;-) Excellent song & performance!
Craziest mic drop ever, right at the end.
Hard to top.
In a parallel universe where everything is right...
miss this lineup..better than the original band
doug and kevin are in gbv now. that's pretty close.
Ain’t gbv w/o Tobin
The current lineup is their best ever. Nate wasnt great.... got even drunker than Bob and sloppier than Mitch. I'd take Bobby Bare Jr over Nate any say.
So much for finality. :)
But to be honest been fan since 94 when I interviewed Bob for alien lanes
holy shit.
What a band . They sound like a Liverpool band called the real people.have a listen
Gillard By Voices
Bob's voice is great
STONE CLASSIC.
Just give me uncle bob and sir doug gillard all day long. Seriously... love tobin, but nothing beats bob & doug
Matter of taste of course. I'll take Tobin's songwriting contributions and vocal harmonies over Doug's guitar chops any day.
I wonder what happened to these guys after they disbanded in 2004?
I went to that "last tour", actually believing it was the last. Lol, what a lie that turned out to be.
Damn good thing too…
500 likes - I'm that guy GBV !
Excuse me!?
Thought it was matthew sweet
What? Why? How?
These lives at TV are the worst.
Really? This version is awesome!
Given the choice of buying a ticket to watch this performance or almost anything else, I would choose almost anything else.
Troll
RONALD MILLER yeah fuck you Ron go home
Ron miller, nearly a year later, I still believe you are a fucking moron.
Ron seems to to think you need to buy a ticket to watch TV...poor trolling, Ron, there'll be another bus along shortly, see if you can remember to breath and place one foot in front of the other just as it arrives...
You are are a fool.
