      September 1997 it was an afternoon show with the get up kids and Jejune. We all played wiffle-ball in the parking lot across the street before because the show had to start later than planned.

    that guy singing on the sides by himself put a smile on my face, because it made me think about why i got into the hardcore scene in the first place in the late 90s because it touched a part of my heart other kind of music or subculture just couldn't it changed me forever.

    This song and performance from 15 years ago is the perfect example of why rock and the music industry in general is dead. You will never see another wave of bands like Mineral/Promise ring/Cap'n Jazz/JoanofArc again. It makes me sad that this period of music is over and that it happened so long ago. I'm 30 now, and hearing and seeing this video makes me feel so much older.

      I can't speak for my generation but as a 19yo aspiring musician who has found himself through 90s emo I would personally love to create that exact kind of music with the same rawness but in todays day and age.

    Mid-late 90's was the best music scene of my life. Im 37 now and still pulling up these amazing bands on my ipod regularly. Mineral in Los Angeles in October!

    This show was on 3rd my birthday, haha. Now i'm going to go see them in Cleveland at a sold out show on my 19th birthday!
    I used to watch this video (and still do) constantly over and over in just complete awe of the REAL emo scene of the time, and the just raw emotion that can be captured by a video camera. You could tell that kid up against the wall was TRULY passionately feeling the shit out of it all. Cheers!

      check out your local punk scene. hopefully it isn't as booze-ridden as a lot of them are nowadays.
      you want true passion? srsly. go to a local punk show. everyone's pissed (sad?) about something, whether it be government, parents, lovers, w/e.

    One of my favorite bands... I was lucky enough to be in my teens during the mid 90's in Austin... Lived just 5 minutes from Emo's... Great bands, with Mineral jumpstarting the "Post-emocore" scene... Saw them several times... My favorite show being when the played with Jimmy Eat World and Sensefield in 97 (I think)... Best summer of my life.

    hahaha and one of those trends was the audience standing almost perfectly still in a very well lit room... regardless, the depth of harmony that fills every inch of every mineral song is what sets them apart from the more recent legions of pop-punk-beats+blackshirts-eyeliner emo

    My god look how young they are. I grew up in houston in the mid80's threw 2000's and i thought only we knew about this band. First time i went on tour with my band "My Luck" i found out how wrong i was.
    seems like everyone loved this band.

    Saw them open for Jimmy Eat World at the Euclid Tavern in Cleveland Ohio. I was in the other room when they started, and i was really only there to see JEW for the 2nd time. (They blew me away opening for the smoking popes the last time through town touring on Static Prevails) From the first song to the last i was hooked and bought their album while they were still on stage. So heavy and intense. The guitars were huge! I put that first album up there with Static Prevails, Clarity, Diary, Four Minute Mile

    it looks like not chris simpson, but the other guitar player, was responsible for a lot of the badass guitar in this song! the musicians in this band were criminally underrated.

    @Guitbox24 I was a part of this scene, and by that, I mean that I was a part of the music that made this scene. We had a band, put on shows DIY style, played with Mineral, Jimmy, Sense Field, Hot Water Music...you name it...and it was amazing because it was always about the music. Then...one day...it was about something else. It's sad, and I haven't been a part of it since.

    Fuck this is awesome. I really wish I was a teenager when this kind of music was around. Just look at everyone at this show, including the band. They all just look like regular guys. No trends, or bullshit. Nowa days you go to a show and everyone is following some gay trend.

    its a Hamer Sunburst (sparkly gold PRS looking guitar),With a seymour duncan in the bridge I think (its zebra striped),and I think its a JCM 800 ampwise,not sure of cab though.

    @Guitbox24 There were trends in the 90s just as there are today. People can't seem to be happy with the music they have. Teenagers 10 years from now will be complaining about their music and revering ours.

    Yeah, if you look at band band pictures on the Crank! Records site, it appears he used a Hamer guitar with a Marshall JCM800 or 900 head into a Bogner cab.
