This looks fantastic so far, despite being a heavy WIP with the map using dev textures and unfinished areas it still somehow ends up looking gorgeous. Props to the team!

Project Borealis hasn't uploaded an update in a long time

@@fruitylerlups530 Yeah, creating it from the scratch in Unreal is simply making a new AAA game and not getting paid for it, they have a really low chance of completing the project.
@@lukkkasz323 I agree, I highly doubt project borealis will even pass the alpha stage. The team isn't a full fleshed studio, it is literally just a bunch of random fans trying to make the game over video calls and discord. People struggle to make moderately sized mods using pre made assets on the source engine, so theres no way they would be able to make a fully fleshed out game created completely from scratch using a completely different engine.
Project Borealis is still in the development,they just decided to go silent for a while,if you're in their discord server you can still see some of dev talk there sometimes
@3D Modeller Well just because they aren't showing any updates for a while doesn't mean they're not working either,their priority is mostly on the game right now and not updates

На самом деле данный проект лично по моему мнению намного лучше чем Project Borealis.
Нет я не скажу что Проект Бореалис плохой проект сделанный на базе UE4. Но просто движок Source тем более улучшенный
куда роднее сочетается чем UE4. Хоть на UE4 фишек намного больше моё мнение не поменяется((.

Definitely captured the feeling of the HL2 episodes perfectly, my only complaint is the burst fire of the pulse rifle looks terrible, but everything else is looking super promising
Seeing this and the 2018 combat demo makes me depressed this was canned. The combat looked so amazing.
Now I’ve seen it my... that special atmosphere of silence , the sounds of combine radio, item pickups, it’s all comes back. No other game I’ve ever played has that atmosphere and feeling that you only get from playing a Half Life game. So much work gone into making this demo level, can’t imagine how much. Top quality work.
I guess this ended in a cliffhanger, again

I hope that one day they finish this, it looks amazing, even in early stages, what gets me up in the morning is the hope that Boreal Alyph will be unshelved

The combine voices are a bit goofy and unintimidating, but that's probably just a placeholder anyway!

The original combine voice lines were fine. Why would they change it?
@@cynicalmemester1694 Game development is an iterative process so they're most likely trying different stuff out to see what works.
@@cynicalmemester1694 original voice acting work has copyrights behind it, so it makes it hard to put original voices in fan projects, especially when it’s being done in programs that are out of reach of the copyright owners.
I’d assume that the current combine voices are being recorded by members of the technical team until they can get actual VAs to do it.

they got source 1 licanse and they can bother with source code they added pbr support and other stuff too

a year has passed, they have not published the work, and it is sad that there are all the developments that they managed to do and failed to publish (

He also mentioned releasing the source code for his mod once everything is done. Everything that was coded for Boreal Alyph will be included in his new mod (along with tons of new features). So here's that.

The Combine soldiers sound like they belong in F.E.A.R. rather than Half-Life. Other than that this looks pretty good.
Thought so too. But the overall sound design otherwise is really punchy and good. Hope they revise some of the voice chatter to be more alien and otherworldly
Yeah, I think the death noises sound great. Just the radio chatter needs to be a bit more static and cryptic.

@chppex In Half-Life: Alyx they're shown to be even more modified though. Also, there's no indication they've ever not had some level of free will, just brainwashing to make them think "humans enemy, Combine good". Otherwise why would they need to communicate to receive orders or update others? If anything it's more likely for the same reason they probably got new voice lines in this mod, because they were fucking hard to understand in combat.

Love the way the level loop back in on itself, that feels so half life! Also the rockets from the helicopter look really cool

This sent my nostalgia in to overdrive as it brought back emotions and ambience from 2004. You guys are doing some kick ass work, we believe in yáll. This is fantastic

this is incredible, it's just a breeze of the entire project, but already show the commitment that you guys are having with maintaining the look and feel of the hl2, but upgrade every aspect of it, btw the combine in the dark at 6:04 gave me chills, remembers me why I was so scared of playing ravenholm as a kid

Sadly this project has been abandoned, but some of the developers have gone on to work on a new mod called Half-Life: Inhuman.

Lookin' pretty good so far, guys! Can't wait to play this in hacked coop!

I love the additions, HC firing rockets, Crosshair indicates weapon spread/bloom, Soldier chatter is more understandable giving more F.E.A.R vibe, and Pulse-Rifle is now more unique instead of being "SMG but good"
tho i have to suggest some stuff such as: Give soldiers the ability to interact with the environment more, like have them do something a player would think of similar to how enemies behave in F.E.A.R, this would help make the encounters more lively and differ from the old Soldier AI.
this is more of a nitpick but PR still having that questionable reload still begs the question of how is Gordon putting additional rounds in, this isn't a big issue but having a reload animation similar to MMOD would be nice.
Everytime I come here It makes me sad. I wish it would have worked!
I love the attention to detail on the weapons where if you do a wet reload 1 bullet will still be in the chamber. Also the fact that this is source is amazing. Level design looks pretty good, weapon animations are clean as hell, the sound system from an old video was awesome! Keep up the good work.

Yeah I literally just found out a few days ago, bummed out about it, been following this for years and was excited to see epistle 3 realised in the source engine

But I didn’t really pay attention to the tires. Maybe I would if I’d rewatch the video I guess.
@@MisterPogman The WIP is showing me that the person handling materials doesn't understand metalness roughness, or is trying to use exponent tinting in unreal.

There is something truly inexplicable about Half Life. Something that raises it above all other generic shooters - I cant explain what, maybe music, maybe sound-and art design.
This looks like a genuine Half Life entry so far. Major props to you, guys
This is an auditory wonder! Such a good job with sound designs and audio effects! Gameplay looks fast and solid and very professional.
Although, I'm not sure if it's how the person is playing, but I'm not a fan of the way the player seems to be knocked back so much when getting hit.

The stuff you're doing with the Source Engine is incredible! I'll be honest, I always get this and Project Borealis mixed up as to which engine is being used. I legitimately thought this was running on Unreal until I did a quick Google search. Keep up the great work!

this is looking really damn great so far, though i feel like the combat feel weird, i feel like the camera when you shoot moves way too much to actually see what's going on in front of you, also i feel like a lot of the models feels too clean and reflective, and sometimes you can see the reflection changing between cubemaps (if that's the right name), which is a shame cause the rest looks top notch, and the sounds are fucking fantastic, can't wait to see more of this project 👍

I love how much of the lighthing/PBR/Parallax Maps looks nearly comparable to Half Life Alyx side to side.
I feel like Alyph is Underrated, people seem to talk more about Borealis

Love it!!! This is the age of the Half-Life Multiverse in which this and Project Borealis share the spot of what may have happened if the Half-Life series had continued down its original path. Considering (and without spoiling Alyx) that the series may in fact be going in a totally new direction now, this will make a very welcome addition to my Half-Life Universe collection. Well done guys!! This is looking awesome!!
