I've been playing Power Specter for some time after seeing it in Sind's VODs and it's really fun but I do have to say if you're not a good player (yet), it can feel like you don't do much.
Hear u on that, U don't get anything for free u have to work for it. But its really fun, but as u said it requires skill. It's not mechanist.
Decided to pug a tournament this week. Got face rolled but got 10g + mystic coin for my tears. I feel like more people would participate if you could matchmake and balance based on ratings OR make it easier to get legendary armor through tournament participation. Otherwise we'll be stuck seeing the same handful of teams every month
The player pool is *way* too small for skill based matchmaking in tournaments - it doesn't even work in Ranked anymore. Adding big incentives will cause an influx of bots and AFK players who just want to grab the rewards. As is well known, neither of these TOS infractions result in bans anymore, not even when reported.
The only way to get more competition into tournaments is to make sPvP as a whole respectable again. I know so many players who started playing PvP and liked it very much, but anyone who thought about taking it seriously to eventually go competitive looked at the state of the game and saw bots, AFKers, wintraders, gizmo sellers, account sharing, and organized leaderboard gatekeeping (some of it is more of a problem on NA) and it destroyed any desire to invest serious time and energy. Understandably. ArenaNet made pretty clear that they're not planning on combating any of the above problems. You obviously won't ever see a game mode grow in popularity that the developers themselves openly refuse to fix.

That is a Gizmo which you get from winning the monthly automated PvP tournament. There is a dedicated gizmo for each month.
to be honest, watching gw2 pvp is so chaotic, no wonder it never became relevant in esports

Can CmC fix the boring boonballs in WvW if he fixed PvP. After the strip nerf it is even more unfun to play against boonballs in WvW. It just is too much.
