  • Video of me walking up and down the aisles of the Winn-Dixie Marketplace supermarket in Picayune, Mississippi on October 25, 2009. This store was converted to Shopper's Value Foods in March 2018 and closed in January 2019. It is now home to The Life Church.

I'm almost resigned to chalk this up to the Mandela effect.I happen to clearly remember commercials with the most epic slogan songs for a few products, but have never found even a hint that these commercials that I know I watched, for the time frame of the mid 70's until the late 1970's/early 1980's--ever existed.
One such commercial, was for Winn Dixie. I was living in Miami, Florida. I believe the commercial aired somewhere during the years of 1976 -78.
I showed ranch cattle being branded, and I believe some ranch scenes, and cattle...the accompanying slogan song, sang by a George Jones or Johnny Cash type of country singers voice,as well as narrated by a similar man's voice. The song went like this:
"Winn Dixie,Winn Dixie ...THIS is no bum steer.....
WinnDixie, Winn Dixie.....the best char-broiled beef steaks, .....are HERE."
      ("Here; --meaning:,here,at Winn Dixie stores)
The narrator continue to tell us, that Winn Dixie sells only the finest, black Angus beef.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who remembers this commercial.Thank you!
The other two commercials, which I can't find any reference for,are
1)Lums restaurant, where the narrator does a corny rhyming skit, with actors pretending to b a weird family, and they're seated at a booth at Lums. The narrator says"there's Chicken Cacciatore;for the guy with the funny story".At which point, one of the actors portraying a member of that family, proceeds to obnoxiously laugh bc with his mouth wide open(presumably following telling his "funny story".
The narrator continues a few more of the family's character descriptions,in a similar way,but I can't remember the exact lyrics.
The third &4commercial,was for Molson Canadian beer, and Molson Golden beer, respectively.Thectheme songs are so good, that I'm not even publishing them here because aiif I find out that I imagined these commercials;I'm going to pitch these songs directly to the company!

I used to work for WD from 1986 to 1992. It seemed their "Market Place" stores lead to their decline...

I am from North Carolina and miss Winn Dixie, we had some pretty good stores here. I miss the fresh fried chicken and the Superbrand Ice Cream they sell.

WINN DIXIE --6405 W GULF TO LAKE HWY, CRYSTAL RIVER, FL 34429 -- Most of the nighttime cashiers are rude and lazy. I written to corporate several times now and it changes for awhile then goes right back to the same rude people.
I hate paying for my groceries and having them sling them to the end of the counter expecting me to help bag and put them in the cart. They even goes as far as to start ringing up the next person with my stuff still on the counter. Where's management?
