Dude! Glad I came across your channel. I use to own one just like yours about 30 years ago and traded it in for a family sedan after marriage. However, I came across a 1988 Daytona Turbo and just bought it a week ago. Like yours, it's a project car. Looking forward to getting it on the road too. Thanks for sharing!

It means a lot that you’re enjoying the videos man! The best part of putting this stuff out is talking cars with people like yourself in the comments section. I’m glad you’re getting a second opportunity at owning a turbo Dodge. These cars are such a cool piece of history. Stick with it and get that thing back on the road! Mine took a really long/frustrating/perplexing 2 and a half years to get it back on the road, but it’s really cool to look back on and I’ve gotten to know so many cool subscribers along the way. There’s a playlist of I think 30 something videos about this car on my channel, hopefully they can help you in some way.

As I did not order my long gone '86 Shelby Daytona with the T-top option, I did not realize the panels were locked separately and presumed locking the doors prevented access.
Good to hear your car is running and I am amazed you can still obtain parts.

I thought the same thing prior to owning this car, it is a bit strange that they're locked. Parts can be difficult to find, for sure - but these cars have a great community behind them that's willing to help out with new and used parts where they can!

Awesome to see you finally take her out for a rip. I’m still working on getting my Shelby Z running and driving. I have run into an issue with the motor…it’s completely wasted. So I need to find a 88 and up 2.2 turbo 1 engine. I’m looking forward to taking that first ride sooner rather then later. Love the Challenger! Plum Crazy is an awesome color.

Thanks man! Super rewarding to get this thing out. I can’t wait to get it to a show. As I started to tear my engine down, I found more and more wrong. I started out planning on doing just a turbo rebuild. Then that turned into a head gasket. Then that turned into a head. Then rings and lower end bearings. It’s been quite a journey with this thing. There are a lot of old rotted out cars with good engines in them, I’m sure you’ll find one!
I appreciate the kind words about the Challenger, we’re pretty excited about that one. Gotta love Plum Crazy!

While I still occasionally regret trading in my Dodge, I needed a reliable car.
The transaxle remote linkage cable spring retaining clips would randomly break; disconnecting the shifter.
Clips were only accessible via hydraulic lift.
If not for that flaw, I would still own the car.
The combination of performance and excellent utility made the car that good!

Man that white smoke looked like a possible turbo issue. Glad the white smoke disappeared. That was my 1st car at 18. Had 2 of them both 86 C/S with the T-Top. 2.5 and 2.2. I’m looking for another one as I’m 45 now and have an 18 year old and I would love to have a project car to do with him. But man they are hard to find and your car looks great! @jamiethomas3306 It's the weirdest thing - it only smokes like that when it's sat for months at a time. If you drive it even once a month, no smoke. Just something I'll have to keep an eye on going forward I suppose. I appreciate the kind words, there are some of these still out there if you look hard enough, I hope you find one! @pmafterdark I agree, they're definitely difficult to find these days - and getting kind of expensive. I much prefer the look of the first gen to the second gen personally, so I'm really glad I found this one as well! They're not as fast as the T2 platform that they got when they changed the styling, but that's okay. Doesn't have to be incredibly fast to be fun. Plus, the T1 is a lot easier to work on than having that big 2 piece intake in the way on the T2. Awesome to hear that you still have your Turbo Z, most people who comment say that they regret selling theirs!

@TheMoparGarage I used to live in Charleston back in the late 2000's. I remember a huge junkyard being in North Charleston. Might be worth a trip. You can pick up 3-4 used ones for much of nothing. One of them is bound to be good, and you will have spares for the road.
