Well so far I am on the side if waiting for your full review, Bioware lost the ability to get me with FOMO since they have to make up for last two major releases.

I don’t really pre order anything anymore. Always wait for reviews first. Was so hyped for Dragon Dogma 2. Glad I didn’t get burned (still sad it was some phoned in pile of crap).
I'm very happy for all the Rogue and Warrior players out there, but holy shit does Mage not fit this style of game at all. The systems seem cool, but i don't see Mage fitting into the "X, X, Y" style of "Do X Spell". Hopefully the reputation stuff isn't limited. One of the worst parts about Rogue Trader or Solasta was the fact that if you didn't funnel all resources into one faction, you would NEVER see their late game items.
I can see it. Even a mage riposte could be, block with staff, they are stance broken, you follow up with a button to do a magic projectile that pushes them back.
Superb video, as always. I just can't muster up any enthusiasm for this game, however. I am hoping the 100% review shows me something I can't currently see, but it seems unlikely at the moment.
that system looks much more intricate and interesting than i thought, having distinguishable builds and good progressionsystems are some of the most important things in games to me for playing a game longterm.
@@azaliae99 as in "not just only stat boosts" or as in "a meaningful skilltree" or as in "skills changing other skills and/or the way you play" or as in "creating a distinguishable class identity". the stuff you named is not progression, and even a small party can be "intricate", i don't need an epic battle simulator to have meaningful strats. and pls read my comment, i said "more than i thought", doesn't mean it is the best system out there, it is that i didn't have high expectations but i was proven wrong
I really liked the primer and combo system from Andromeda and glad to see they are using it in this game. As the game gets closer, if you have time, would love a lore video just to catch up on the story so far from the first dragon age to when this story takes place. I got into the channel when you put out the divinity lore videos and really enjoyed it.
I Ike it personally, you decide how to use them more, especially before battle and creating combos. Dai ai was way too overpowered; it felt like the game played itself.
I have to say that my biggest gripe isn’t the action rpg approach to combat, since I love that kind of gameplay. My biggest gripe is how plastic all the characters look, like some kind of off-brand Fortnite style, which I guess is a heritage from this games beginning as a GAAS title.
@@ronuss I don’t need the art style to feel “gritty” imo, but this just looks cheap in my eyes. I lived through the 2000’s when all games had the same brown and grey colourscale so I like my games to have actual colour but the art style for this game feels like an upscaled mobile game.
None of the DA games have been exactly realistic looking, so I’m okay with this. I think if the story is good, the art style fades into the background a bit.
Man i love Dragon age! 1, 2 and 3 each have their own strengths and weaknesses but i love them all. Getting more and more excited for this new addition.

@@petespeedsxp4967 They do exist, and I feel this kind of skills are often meh in term of excitment. But they are also limited in number. If we look at what the player choose here, there are more non-small passive nodes taken than the other kind. From a design point of view, we can figure they exist mainly to push the player to spec rather than take everything as they are often located on crossroad. So I don't mind them as much and I hope that some of them affect more heavily the gameplay like additional arrows, ressource generation, change time frame for charge attack or parry or allow for additional stacks or debuff/buff to last longer. After the lackluster items in inquisition I’m glad the items are going through a big overhaul, serving to boost your skills or your build instead of just giving a little bump in damage numbers or stats
I'm excited for this game mainly because it feels like they took DA and made it into a Mass Effect style game (and I love me some Mass Effect). i'm so excited for this game. as a dragon age superfan i am cautious given the company's turbulent record lately, but i believe in them, and i believe and deeply deeply hope that they will deliver to me a meaningful story and amazing companions.
I personally prefer having lots of different and interresting equipment options and a lot of equipment slots like Pathfinder or BG. However, I think a lot of party-based RPGs with lots of equipment slots fall short on quality of life by not having a saved loadout system to easily swap equipment across the party. I like swapping party members in and out of the active party, both for gameplay variety and story interaction, but it's often a slog having to change their equipment one slot at a time across a full roster.
I’m pretty excited about this game. I am unsure about these item mechanics, though. Something I didn’t love from Inquisition was the excess of unnecessary, underleveled loot (now they seem to have fixed that with the enchanter workshop level), and how crafting in DAI turned even legendary weapons useless. So I am hopeful this time it’ll be better but I’m also kinda worried
@@HDGaminTutorials I'm not smoking crack with that statement. I mean as someone who has played God of War Ragnarok, I can see some similarities like gameplay and environment design.
My only concern is will I have to micro-manage my companions to get the most out of them, and therefore the party DPS. One of the things I really liked about DAO was the tactics system. You could essentially set up an algorithm that specified when a companion used an ability or skill. This meant you wouldn't have to constantly pause combat to get the most out of them. There were always edge cases of course, but I really liked it and it was better than having the standard "Aggressive/Defensive/Passive" setting that they ended up with in DAI. And now with the combos, I'm having some trepidations about DAV. Yes, you play Bioware games for more than the combat (MA included), but regardless, combat still is what you are going to be doing most frequently. So that's my 2 cents.
I hope each factions has enough reward variety so you are not limited to a certain one or two factions if you are a certain class/build. Unless you can max every faction in there(not a good idea if you ask me).
This looks like a really fun game. I did like the tactics side of Origins and q'ing up actions in the menus, but it's not very 'accessible' and I can appreciate from a marketing POV more action oriented combat sells better. I liked some aspects of Inquisition but the constant closing the rifts got VERY tedious. The action combat side of it I quite enjoyed though. If they can create a good story for Veilguard and avoid overly repetitive missions/story points in the game then the combat looks really engaging. Seems to be a lot of options to create some flexibility in builds and with all modern games now, modders can generally fill in gaps as long as the base game holds strong. Looks really promising to me :)
no worries, I watch everything you upload anyway. Always quality content ever since, and is becoming even better. Just asked about something I was curious about
While still pretty RPG complexity light, it is better than FF16 did. And when it’s all about make it more and more simply for these companies. I am a little happy when I see a minimal level of effort. That said, I see this as a shell of a once great RPG dev team doing what they think is innovative even if it’s basic concepts from 20 years ago such as the OMG you can combo abilities off of each other. I know if I want real complex games I don’t go to “Triple A” teams even tho this looks like the quality of a “double A” team….
I'm absolutely gutted with the latest news about this game. I KNEW there were button combos going to be introduced, and I got SO much shit for saying that in the various comments sections.. but here we are. They haven't said much about them but they've shown them in the skill tree tooltips. I hate... HATE... button combos, especially on keyboard. There are basically three things that will make me avoid a game despite being a rabid fan of the franchise/IP. Dedicated FPS (which gives me nauseating migraines), blatant cash grabbing, and button combos. I despise them THAT much. This last infodump they made has pretty much guaranteed that I'll never buy this game. I'm so upset, because while I had planned on kissing the franchise goodbye after this game, I was going to get it on sale post release and finish the Solas story arc. Ugh. Gutted 😞😞😢😢
You know, for all their faults (and there are MANY) I do applaud the Dragon Age series for continually expanding and iterating on it's combat mechanics and keeping it from getting stale. My only question is will they package story content into DLC again? If so I'm waiting a year so that I can buy the whole thing bundled on sale. Probably.
Hoping BG3's success encourages some more attempts at turn based combat. Turning every RPG franchise into a character action game with parrying because dark souls is becoming so tiresome.
Honestly maybe it’s just me but I feel like BG3 has quenched my thirst for more hardline, old fashioned CRPG type games enough to last at least five years. Outside of that I feel like it’s just less painful to accept that “RPG” in the modern AAA sense will almost always mean mean character action with skill trees and stuff. For what it is, this game looks really good at doing that.
@@nomorepartiezz depends on your starting point. I actively dislike real-time character action to the point where it's not fun and I will put up with it if the story and characters are good enough. Meanwhile I can play INFINITE hours of any even mediocre turn based combat system.
A lot of games pick a main color palette for their visual and key art for the sake of consistent imagery for marketing. WotR also used purple heavily, not sure why people suddenly care about it. Havent heard this much about a color since my son decided he hated blue.
The gameplay of the mage class they showed off recently was. . . not great. Partially due to them picking an area where the person playing could barely dodge around in; but also due to the way abilities work for mages. I was worried that having such limitations on a caster class would make the gameplay less interesting; and at least from what was shown off, I was pretty much convinced it’s not going to be fun. Also; the new ‘melee’ weapon they showed off for mages was pretty underwhelming, which may have been because of the poor gameplay showing, but also since the options for melee casters in DAO/I were already pretty good as a base to have built up from.
I'm happy he's not part of this. It could be a good action game but it looks nothing like DAO (and even 2). Besides, he's too powerful and would embarass those companions XD
Ill miss the crafting from Inquisiton, but the way this game is shaping up looks like it might just be a fun game to sink a couple mindless hours into regardless of the quality of the story.
I am actually pretty pleased with all that I am seeing about this game. I had a rocky start with my impressions, but the more details they share and the more gameplay I see, the more I feel like this will be a definite purchase.
This game has a console game aesthetic and I'll try not to judge it too harshly, but I struggle to enjoy games designed for this purpose. They tend to feel too simple. Sad, cause it looks beautifuk.
Looks good. Is it enough progression? Nobody knows, tbh. Progression trees for the sake of quantity isn't good either. What matters the most is the difference. If stuff X and Y are different only in terms of damage type - that's not good. If stuff X can combo with different sets and such, while stuff Y can be done on it's own and synergise good enough (but not to the level of X) - it's way better.
@@MammothMorals fair enough, however if they want to win GOTY again, the good story is not enough and for me balance between a good gameplay and a good story is a must on AAA game
@@svdrevolver5109 but the gameplay does look good. it's just not to our preference of tactical. I don't hate BG3 for havin tactical gameplay. it's still a good game despite that the gameplay is not to my taste.
All those classes look cool, but you'll be playing only one of them. Controlling only Rook. That's what kills me. Strategizing an entire party with their own fully fledged progression trees and being able to "assume control" in battle would make this 5x better. Let's be honest, they avoided doing it because it's a lot of extra work for relatively low % of people who would be taking full advantage of it. That's just what I want to see from huge AAA productions - avoiding extra work...
@@MammothMorals oh see idk anything about the lore, I just know the older games look better in my opinion in terms of art design and aesthetic, but it’s just a personal preference.
@@marvelightv I will admit that the art design seems a little to cartoony for me. however it's not something that would stop me from getting the game. I like how each game has a different art style that sets it apart from the others. like I said, the scifi/cartoon style seems to be purposefully done because of the setting and the theming of the game to portray how magical tevinter is AND the fact that the veil is thinning. we will have to wait to see if this direction pays off.
the new systems just seem like ways to deal with the issue of reducing the control you have in combat. You can tell the gameplay devs big question for this game was " how do we stream line combat into a arpg focused game?
Dragon Age embracing hack n slash combat was not on my bingo list, this one might actually be worth checking out Want to see if it gonna have as much freeflow combos as stuff like Atlas Fallen or Immortals Fenyx Rising, which had excellent combat for western standards The fact that it didnt chase the overdone souslike/norse god of war gameplay trend already makes it stand out to me who usually only gets japanese games since they are the few devs left that still make good hack n slash combat Still can’t believe a freaking Dragon Age game has the potential to be one of the most fun western action rpgs we gonna get in a while Like it might be this gens Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning based on the stuff I’ve seen so far
I am excited for the combat and progression, but I got some major reservations on the companions and overall writing for the game. After watching the video where the creative director referred to the companions as a “found family” I just rolled my eyes thinking it would be like fast and furious. Then when she was explaining how all of them have these issues like anxiety and shit I was even more scared of how bad the writing is going to be.
Disagree. You basically stacked the same 3 stat bonuses and used the same materials to craft weapons that were 10 times better than anything you could find out in the field. They essentially trivialised large portions of the game. Atleast now they've made exploring worth your time, along with hopefully toning down how ridiculously strong the crafted stuff is.
@@JoeEver123 Not really lol. It was a very rudimentary system and clearly only implemented because they thought they "had" to. Threw off the entirety of the balance and trivialized any challenge at all difficulties.

This last infodump they made has pretty much guaranteed that I'll never buy this game. I'm so upset, because while I had planned on kissing the franchise goodbye after this game, I was going to get it on sale post release and finish the Solas story arc.
Ugh. Gutted 😞😞😢😢
This really is looking like ME: Andromeda in Thedas and I'm really excited
They love purple huh
inquisition was full of green. seems they want to theme each game with a colour.
A lot of games pick a main color palette for their visual and key art for the sake of consistent imagery for marketing. WotR also used purple heavily, not sure why people suddenly care about it. Havent heard this much about a color since my son decided he hated blue.
@@MortismalGaminglmao same. Strange people are mad about the color purple being the main color for Veilguard. Purple is my favorite color so whatever.
I'm surprised to say this game has become a one-to-watch for me.
Also; the new ‘melee’ weapon they showed off for mages was pretty underwhelming, which may have been because of the poor gameplay showing, but also since the options for melee casters in DAO/I were already pretty good as a base to have built up from.
ummm... instant subscription to your channel - wow. How is it, I am just now stumbling over it?
Did they get rid of my boy sandal?
_Enchantment!_
I'm happy he's not part of this. It could be a good action game but it looks nothing like DAO (and even 2). Besides, he's too powerful and would embarass those companions XD
A mort rundown is 1000 times better than the official version
Still not seen this like DA but… sistem is quzite iteresting I must admit.
Excited for DAtV! The mage gameplay was not as smooth as rogue's and warrior's gameplay. Makes me second guess if I should play as a mage. 😆
Thank you for being one of the positive people for this game.
So many bots in these comments man, anyway gameplay and progression look great. I cannot wait for Halloween so I can play this game!!!!
so its pretty much the Sphere Grid from FFX, nice.
Progressive RUclips Jazz 🎶
i'm slightly whelmed
PoE players approve trees. As for me this is the only reason to play DA:V
I don't know why they keep changing combat each iteration, DA: I combat seems pretty good, it just need a tweak to be more tactical like DA: O was
the less tactical the better imo. veilguard combat looks great!
@@MammothMorals we already have 100++ ARPG, except they could make it unique. But, by the look of it, it looks bland.
@@svdrevolver5109 I just play for the story. tactical combat bores me so this looks like it drag to play through like origins is.
Is it me or does the art design, character design, and UI design seem more sci-fi than medieval fantasy ?
because it's not medieval fantasy? it's set in tevinter, not ferelden. tevinter is full of magic which causes the more scifi feel of the game.
I like how each game has a different art style that sets it apart from the others.
like I said, the scifi/cartoon style seems to be purposefully done because of the setting and the theming of the game to portray how magical tevinter is AND the fact that the veil is thinning. we will have to wait to see if this direction pays off.
i have played a part of inquisition and i didnt like it,axept for writting. This looks a lot better, hopefuly it will be.
Comment for Al Gore Rhythm.
Is it just me or does the female Rook in this video look exactly like Toni Collette?
Gronk!
The game lost me at key combos, think I'll give this one a miss, which is a shame as I enjoyed the previous three Dragon Age titles quite a bit.
the new systems just seem like ways to deal with the issue of reducing the control you have in combat. You can tell the gameplay devs big question for this game was " how do we stream line combat into a arpg focused game?
free comment.
Dragon Age embracing hack n slash combat was not on my bingo list, this one might actually be worth checking out
Want to see if it gonna have as much freeflow combos as stuff like Atlas Fallen or Immortals Fenyx Rising, which had excellent combat for western standards
The fact that it didnt chase the overdone souslike/norse god of war gameplay trend already makes it stand out to me who usually only gets japanese games since they are the few devs left that still make good hack n slash combat
Still can’t believe a freaking Dragon Age game has the potential to be one of the most fun western action rpgs we gonna get in a while
Like it might be this gens Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning based on the stuff I’ve seen so far
Path of Exile skill tree energy here
Bioware knocking it out the park again!! 🎉
I don’t care what the haters say, the gameplay for Veilguard looks promising and fun to play. I can’t wait to play it on my PS5 on Halloween.
Same here! Already preordered it Halloween cannot come fast enough!!!
Inquisition had a great crafting system. Will be disappointed if that got scrapped
@@jamalmalik3617well unfortunately crafting is the only memorable thing from Inquisition. For me it was the best part too.
@@JoeEver123 Not really lol. It was a very rudimentary system and clearly only implemented because they thought they "had" to. Threw off the entirety of the balance and trivialized any challenge at all difficulties.
This game looks like it’ll be so mediocre but I hope I’m wrong
looks great to me
@MammothMorals which part? So I can see it too.
@@snorkman2 particularly the warrior and rogue showcase. mage combat showcase wasn't great but hopefully that's because it was played by someone who's not good at the game.
I’m thinking this game is gonna be a solid middle of the road game. 7/10.
Fun gameplay but average story. BioWare isn’t the same as it used to be so not too excited.
Progression looks the best it's looked in the series, the only thing that worries me about the game are the characters and the story, but we just won't know until we play it
I sort of agree, I enjoy the Dragon Age series for its characters, lore and stories. I just hope the writing for Veilguard isn’t bad.
I'm here. 😊
Yes, but where are the bots?
Im going to be honest here when Inquisition first dropped i didn't like look of it cause they were wandering from the original formula however after playing it i loved it and have done several playthroughs over the years, This one is giving me same vibes while I'm quietly optimistic for it and hope they extend the story for inquisition with it in a good way I'm also hating what they have done with our waifu Morrigan.
I think Morrigan has maybe taken on the mantle of Mythal.
@@MammothMorals if that's the case how are they going to explain her backstory of being a witch of the wilds and will she inherit the ability to be a dragon if anyone remembers as much as i do .
@@michaelmadden282 she has already gained the ability to turn into a dragon in inquisition, we see her turn into one if she drinks from the well of sorrows.
as for the explaining her backstory part, I don't really get what you mean? it's always been her character arch to either willingly take on her mothers role or to be forced into it. I imagine whether or not she drinks from the well will alter whether or not she was willing.
this is all just theory for now, it may still be the Morrigan we've always known.
