The building logs will be labelled , dismantled and shipped to the final building site to a more permanent structural design of concrete or piles etc...
Forgive my Comment guys, Your work is Beautiful, I Love the Heavy Timbers o Ya, However it would be wise to have a Masonary Barrier at those "Earth to Wood COntact Posts and pressure treated posts at the EC areas , The whole structure is threatened without it,, not to criticize you but rather inform you, if a would be buyer were to seek out a Lender to buy your Log HOmes, He or She couldnt get an Inspector to pass it for the Loan. it would be noted as "Undesireable Conditions" Your work is very attractive and artistic and you deserve to be paid well for all this effort, btw I am a former state licensed Building Termite Inspector.. I thought you could not put the wood foundations directly into the ground, as they will rot? eventually. I always thought you must use rocks or stone as a base and build on top of that.
Actually if you cut out the air, your log can last virtually forever. Search about the foundations of Venice. They're made of tree logs, and they've been standing for over a century

It is in a log assembly yard, not the permanent log house site. So yes depending on the site piers would go below the frost-line. If in the north America, probably 18 inches high at a minimum do to snow pack in the site area.

Can you use different types of Logs to build a cabin? My woods are mostly Alder. 20 thirty year old cedars. We have about 50 maples. We have maybe a dozen spruce and a few Doug firs. Most trees are only 30ish years old. Thanks.
I would trade the maple trees for more douglas firs :D Maple is not commonly used for outdoor projects, the wood doesnt have natural protection against funghi and insects, as far as i know. Beautiful wood for interior projects though
You can mix all you want if that’s what you have. Ideally one uses soft wood as they have exactly 2x the R Value per every inch compared to Hard woods. Plus they are much more economical if having to buy.

A^2 + B^2 = C^2 or Side A multiplied by itself plus side B multiplied by itself is equal to the Square root of the diagonal distance (hypotenuse). So for this video (5x5)+(8x8)= sqrt 89 =9.43398

And seeing as your using chainsaws and planers wouldn't a portable mill be much more cost efficient .And that timber in the ground has to be treated or protected (maybe depends where you are building ) Enjoyed the vid. but some things don't seem quite rite.
I myself would not build a log cabin. Wood is a poor insulator (R factor of 1.7 per inch). Additionally, a standing post will rote in 2 years, or ate up by termites. Stone or concrete would be the preferred method.
There is no building code anywhere that would let you build this as more than a temporary structure. That wood near the ground and touching the ground is going to rot immediately. The freeze line is different for each area, so as shallow as 2 feet, up to over five feet deep. A foundation needs to deal with the water going that deep, and no wood can do that. Use concrete block if necessary. Freezing water will expand, so getting under one of those wooden piers, it will lift the post, and probably each post differently, meaning that the doors and windows will twist and warp. Water drips off a roof for hours after a rain, and if there is snow, it drips for months. Water hitting the dirt will splash 30" or 76cm, roughly, so wood should never be that close to the ground, never! The reason log homes have such a nasty reputation is because people do not build a proper foundation. Additionally, wood should never touch concrete, so add a layer of shingles, treated wood, or something that will stop the wood from wicking that moisture. Any of the log that is exposed to the air and cut will deteriorate much faster, so should be sealed, then resealed yearly. The reason is that it acts like a sponge, the ends of the cellulose fibers are like straw, so the moisture in the air constantly changes, which means the end of the straw will let the air increase the moisture or decrease it, drawing in and out fungus and mold. Look at the ends of those logs just a year later, black. That is fungus or mold and not healthy to breathe.
The sun is a problem easily fixed with a UV protectant stain. Mold is a bigger problem Sun will dry the moisture, catch 22. Humidity is just as bad, in the air, can't do anything about it except seal the wood. I love large overhangs, I agree that they help tremendously. They look even better if they have braces holding them up, just pleasing to the eye. My brother had a log house, he researched and found the best in the industry. He lived it in for 20 years, it was ready to fall down. He did not have small overhangs, the wood was kiln dried, but there is a problem lying wood on flat structurally. It compresses from weight, and shrinks and expands based upon the weather. Any wood exposed outdoors will do that. So my whole point is that no matter how much you put into it, my brother sealed his house with used motor oil every year, but it did not help, He windows and doors never worked, his floor was uneven, his stairs were too short one year, too tall the next, bumped his head when the ceiling got so low, and he used kiln dried logs. Maybe the problem here is that you and everyone else think short term, like he loved his house the first few years, but grew to hate it. Look at Europe, the new houses are 500 years old, the old ones are 1500 years old. We have no log cabins left here, they all rotted away. There might be a few exceptions, but I don't think so. Don't get me wrong, I love the look, and there are solutions to all the problems I mention, good foundation and large overhangs are part of it, keeping the wood out of the splash zone is a tremendous help, rain water splashes 30". Never have wood within 30" of the ground. The solution to the compression issue is to not make the logs structural, which sounds insane. No, just use posts at the corners and on each sides of the windows and doors. A header log across all the posts will keep the pressure off the logs, they can expand and contract and do no damage. The wall filler logs should have a tenon at both ends, dovetail is preferable. The post has a slot, it keeps the ends of the logs from getting exposed too. The best solution for warping, twisting and checking is kerfs with a metal spline top and bottom between the logs. Then drill holes, use threaded rods top to bottom of the filler log walls every two feet, tighten them every year, add fill to the top under the header log as the logs shrink and decay.

Did you think to consider that the dimensions are the center lines of the logs and therefore the outside to outside would be greater then the center lines of each side....if you didnt notice everything is referenced to center lines of the logs never the inside or outside of the logs, thats Becuase every log has a different diameter and if you went by outside or inside of the log youd have a very hard time maintaining a level and tight notches, in other words youd end up with toppled over walls and double your work. Should have at least enough experience in wood construction to know that the dimensions of this building are center lines not outside dimensions before looking into building a log home.... If you can't do that at least treat the foundation stumps with fire and oils. This house will sadly collapse way sooner than it had to...
I'm pretty sure that's a temporary foundation. They probably build these near their shop where they have electricity and access to all their tools. Then reassemble them somewhere with a proper foundation

Log home out becaz log home harms mother nature. We need trees. Are trees replaced after cut them down? Cut down Forrest to build just makes me cringe. This damages eco system.( But video is nice nevertheless(
Kade Hettrich . Log homes are actually great for Mother Nature! Woods uses coal dioxide to grow and it binds it in the logs. When you use the logs/wood as buildings material coal dioxide stays in the logs/wood and the new woods/trees that grows where the logs were cut, binds more coal dioxide. If you leave the woods untouched, the trees would eventually die and start decaying. And as they are decaying the coal dioxide gets released back in to the air. And when it’s to much of coal dioxide in the air, it’s not good for Mother Nature!

HOw about coat the in ground portion of the each support post with roofing tar to prevent ROT and moisture absorption by the bare wood ?

Why not straighten the log in the sawmill up and down before the assembly? Or even cut them to the same diameter?
