One of the best ways I have found is to improve your ear is to listen to jazz by randomly dropping the needle (oops dating myself) in the middle of a jazz solo and identify where they are in the form of the song. (Assuming you know the song) Start by going to the middle of a blues solo and identify where they are in the blues form. When you feel comfortable, start playing along by comping for the soloist.
I wish I trained my ears first and not my eyes. When I learned guitar years ago, I was looking at tabs, couldn’t sight read . Then I learned theory and the modes all over the neck but again this is VISUAL. then I learned to sight read …..again it’s visual. But if I trained my ears before my eyes, when it came to music, I probably would’ve been where I am now many years earlier. Train your ears! Yes.
Brother got the pat martinos stuff linear expressions minor conversions etc....would be great you make a video note for note sloxly about the key-solution to soloing
Hi! Module 3 will include comping, and the bonus module-released after Module 3-will cover more chordal material. Currently, Modules 1 and 2 are available, and all modules are expected to be completed in about 3-4 weeks. The pre-sale will end at that time. Let me know if you have any questions! :)
