    I'm sixty-two. I am regarded by some as being an extremely talented musician. I have recently discovered Johnny Thunders.........it's like being blessed by God. I love the Blues. So did Johnny Thunders! Lovely, lovely.
    I am currently lying on my couch with my feet up, with my lower legs and feet wrapped by towels, with Johnny Thunder's lead guitar screaming and screeching out from the stage through my Bluetooth speaker inspiring this old man with something new whilst so much seems to be the same. I haven't as yet read about what happened to him, because his music lives on as a statement that is vibrantly alive and so wonderfully beautiful that it is something that can never die!
    God bless Mr. Thunders.

      Just to add.........RUclips, you wonderful people. I had a look at the playlist you have listed under this first video, in this particular case, of Johnny Thunders, and basically all of those videos are miraculously many of my favorites. Thanks!

      Great! With me the same, I'm no incredible player but I try and love to play. I bought an electric guitar and a big speaker and I'm learning through practice, RUclips (a bit Link Wray, Dick Dale, blues licks) and learning from certain albums (Thunders, Durrutti Column, Tom Verlaine, VU, Stooges) It's around 11 in the morning, the end o/t summer (whatabummer) still hanging around on my bed with a spliff from last night and some food, looking at this FUN show! -Gr. from Holland ;)

      PS: Yeah... there's a LOT of great music being made. I specially love 50s, 60s, 70s (and 80s-underground music) Old Delta/&Chicago Blues, Beat, R&R, Psychedelic, Rock, Folk, Reggae, Experimental, Space, Krautrock, Underground Rock, and Bluesrock. I also love the first local/punk scene in NY, Detroit(Sonics, Stooges, Gories) and first London punk scene. No Wave, Post Punk, Punk oriented bands (70/80s) and much more. But Johnny Thunders is something else, I love that guy to the core. Same as Daevid Allen from Gong and all of his other projects and musical/theatrical/art endeavours. Same with Rozz Williams..! -I put this down cause many people don't even seem to know that there's a WORLD of FANTASTIC music out there, ready to be explored!!!
      Soon I try and get some great music uploaded, I just have to figure some things out before I start. (nottoogreatwithcomputers) Peace :)

    • @baronsaturday2103
      @baronsaturday2103 Год назад +2

      @@leahflower9924 I think it's because he had a certain set of songs that the kids wanted to hear anyway, and for the other band members it wasn't too hard to play too. Many times he brought some mates from here and there to play some gigs, and they didn't practice much, maybe only a little when they had to do the soundcheck. And using dope takes a lot of your time too, and to have to learn a bunch of unruly kids a few different songs, can take a lot of your time. I think a few of them got baptised by fire, right there on the stage. Never practised anything and hardly knowing the songs, but Johnny's advice was attitude! Most important of all, if you know 3-5 chords and you know how to bring it with a bit of attitude and charisma, you're in.

    nice indeed, syl looks very excited doing this.. love all j.t. performances.. it ain't the heartbreaker sound of course, no one got the beat like jerry and billy did. they were an unique chemistry, best footage available i know, is from detroit 1979 about 30 minutes.

      Don't me wrong, Johnny played his songs with the Heartbreakers the best but with Syl, he's more alert and happy. I think having Syl on his side was the healthiest thing for Johnny ever had in his life because he's more to himself. With the Heartbreakers, he tries to be too dope up. I'm just saying.

      @@philliplandry4139 i don't think his mood or state had to do with it...he is happy to play with Syl for sure. he was a fine professional entertainer. first of all. but not to a degree that his state and mood would not affect the show. so on some nights he was a bit not together. and then on fire again . also all drugged up he delivered a suburb tight performance. he just had it. the magic, no one knows where it comes from. he had not put out that many records, but made a very solid amount of live work, which is the most important for this genre artist. and his end was a good timing.

      @@richardleeuwenburg9093 during this time it could be hit or miss with John. However you could tell he was really really enjoying himself and having fun. I believe having Sylvain and Michael Monroe with him had a lot to do with that. I know he did a tour in 86 with Keith, T and Syl. However Syl left and Johnny picked up a guitar player from SF called Dirty Al for the rest of the tour. In 1987 he got back together with Jerry, author and Barry Jones on second guitar. That tour was great, Johnny hasn't sounded that good in years. Damn shame that nothing could come out of it. I know they tried to get some labels interested but it was the same old story, the labels were afraid of too much junkie business. That tour was bootlegged alot and the band was hot!! Unfortunately Johnny and Jerry had a falling out and that was the end of that. It was a damn shame. Richard I appreciate all the great gigs you post. I had about 200 or 300 or possibly more audio cassettes
      of Johnny's various bands plus Heros, Waldos, Senders, Dragons, Idols and other bands of that time. Unfortunately they along with videos, dvds and many many many scrap books plus Freddy Lynnx's and Hiroshi from Japan zines about Johnny that were FANTASTIC. I happened to be away for 4 or 5 days and pipe burst in the wall where I turned a closet into a storage closet. The fire department didn't call, no neighbors called so when I got back home everything was just a soggy mess and destroyed. That happened in 2005 and I'm still sick about it. Thank God you have many, many of the tapes I lost so at least I can listen to them again. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that Richard. Take care my friend and be safe.
