"The Birthday Massacre" is a Canadian rock-band, formed in London, Ontario (1999) currently based in Toronto, Ontario. They have released nine studio albums so far. When the band was formed, they were known as "Imagica." The name was inspired by the fantasy novel "Imajica" by Clive Barker. In 2002, they changed the name to "The Birthday Massacre" in order to avoid confusion with another group. The song called; "The Birthday Massacre" was then renamed "Happy Birthday." According to their vocalist Sara "Chibi" Taylor: _"it kind of works well for the music that we're making. Sort of contrasty, you know? Birthday, and massacre. Light, and dark. Cute, and evil."

This is the band that molded me into a human I am today, and also greatly affected the overall direction of my taste in music. Actually it was almost two decades ago, when I came across this epic CS1.6 frag-movie called; "Alive" by mixep - and it changed my life forever. It had this one song that stuck in my head real bad, it was called "Red Stars" I just needed to know more...
Well, I was not disappointed, not at all! After all this time, still "Walking With Strangers" and "Violet" are my favorite albums by them, but really there ain't a bad song by them in any of the nine albums they released so far. I need to also say, that there ain't no band that has spoken to my soul directly in this way, ever...
Their music is obviously super nostalgic/personal for me, very unique and has heavy "Alice in a Wonderland" vibes. Truly beyond-words beautiful, soothing and atmospheric music, which has its own world or maybe a dimension? This very dimension has a purple glow, and its filled with variety of cute animals.. which actually are very, very hostile. I also love all of their album-art too, and they have a color purple in them. And for me, they portray the dimension I was talking about.
This was an idea I had ages ago, and these really are my all-time favorite tracks by them. You guys have been actually super nice, and warm people! Loving all these nice comments, which makes me want make another mix, real soon! Thank you, so very much! 💜

no problem! I hope it works for you! Tried to pick my fav songs from almost every album.. But WWS/Violet songs are those which make me almost too nostalgic and a bit sad.. :'3 Naah, but I get these vivid images from past.. When I used to fell in love/have a crush etc etc..
After break-ups, losses and such their rabbit-hole goes as therapy for me :3 So grateful that I found em back in the day! and also so happy that you found your way to listen my collection of their songs! :)

Kill the Lights is such a brilliant song.
It really is :) actually my favorite from WWS. And that album actually happens to be my all-time favorite.
Fascination was actually pretty fucking awesome too.. It has really clean and crisp sound but has a strong "blasts from the past" vibes all around, from the WWS/Violet days.
Thats at least how I see/hear it :D

Уникальная, успокаивающая, ностальгическая и невыразимо красивая музыка, у которой есть свой собственный мир / измерение. Я бесконечно благодарен за то, что молодой и безнадежный романтик из северной Финляндии более двух десятилетий назад совершенно случайно открыл для себя эти Red Stars. Их звучание со временем только совершенствуется, а формула, благодаря которой оно работает, была практически такой же с самого начала.. Другими словами, они сразу нашли свое дело / звучание. Они также остаются верны себе, что делает музыку сырой и честной. И позволяет истории просто продолжаться.. И мне нравится этот факт.. и я люблю тебя, ТБМ!💜 До последнего прощания!
