Still Absolutely LOVE this Movie. Summer 2005 was 8 years worth of anticipation for me as a Massive fan. I remember it though being a movie NO ONE it seemed but me was hyped for or even knew was coming out.
It just goes to show what a good job Hollywood had done of misdirecting the franchise. As a kid in high school, I was so excited for the 89 Burton film (never before had a movie been so hyped) and while I enjoyed it quite a bit, it felt like diminishing returns - drastically - with each successive film. Returns was "better" than 89 but already felt like they were getting too satirical, or goofy/bombastic, and then I didn't even really bother with the Schumaker films (I did catch the last one in the theater, but basically out of absolute boredom and with the lowest of expectations - it didn't even matter that it was a Batman film). By the time they started getting the Hype Machine churning for BB, it felt like they were really trying to beat a dead horse. Superhero movies were already kind of moved on from Batman (with Spidey, Hulk, X-men, Fantastic Four etc) and it didn't really feel terribly appealing to investigate a Batman take along those better-than-mediocre lines (not to shit on those movies, they were good, but just feeling a bit stale at that point). IGN kept running fluff pieces that felt kind of try-hard, and bland. On top of that "Batman Begins" just felt like a "we have to explain this to you!" too directly of a name - just call it Batman again and let it stand on its own two feet! The thing launched and there was some hubbub about it, but even as a huge Batfan from my childhood, couldn't really bring myself to care. I did finally check out a low-quality DVD rip or cam-capture or something several years later (never watch a movie like this!) and thought "oh this is okay" but honestly, catching it many years later on streaming and finally sitting down and watching it in its entirety, in top quality, did I finally recognize it for the absolutely mega-cool bitching Batman film that it truly was - and perhaps the best of the (very well-done) trilogy.
I remember seeing the Batman Begins trailer for the first time in the theatre for (which I had no idea was coming out) and almost $hit my pants a few seconds in when I realized just what it was.

I loved The Batman, but this one lit the spark (along with X2) for how a comic book story could be told to captivate viewers.

The movie at the time went under the radar having a hang over from 1997 batman and Robin. Big things were expected of Superman Returns by Bryan Singer reviving superman. wasn't to be
I don't think that Batman killed Raz since he just let him die by his own mistakes. He saved his life once only to have him come back trying to destroy and kill people.
While watching this I was like oh I want to watch your take on the dark knight! I scroll down expecting it to be the next video to play, no not there. Keep scrolling, ehh I’ll finish the video then look. Then at the end when you said we’ll have to wait till next time, I look at the time stamp. DAMN IT 9 HOURS AGO!
I thought this was an awesome Batman movie. It's a shame Scarecrow was barely in the film and the costume looked bland. Cillian Murphy was great as Crane.
Funny you should mention Blade Runner. In The Batman Gotham city reminded me of Ridley Scott's masterpice. In the opening scene of the Batman I half expected to see Decker pounding the rain soaked streets looking for replicas.
I wouldn't be so hard on Kattie Holmes, at least you remembered her compared to even Rutger Hauer which people tend to forget he's even in the film. Or even Falcone who also does even have one good scene, but like Nolan has that effect, as much as people forget Tom Berenger is in Inception. But it's also not a flawed film, a lot of elements add to Dark Knight Rise.
Not Special Air Force. SAS stands for Special Air Service. 22.SAS is a special forces unit of the British Army and part of the United Kingdom Special Forces.
Nolan's last 'regular' film, before his contrived style became schtick. Arguably TDK is the better film, but this one just feels fresher. The only thing pulling it down is the muddled action scenes, but that's a weakness of the whole trilogy. But what's this whining about Katie Holmes? There's nothing wrong with her role. Total Film got it right; it was refreshing to see that it wasn't about this cliché Hollywood romance plot, but just two people who grew up together finding their way in life. Shame she couldn't return for the sequel (thanks, Tom!), although Gyllenhaal did a solid job replacing her.
Why are they skipping Superman Returns? Also, are they gonna be doing a Marvel movies retrospectives after they finish doing all the released DC films?
I also like THE SHADOW film with Alec Baldwin (a character that pre-dates BAT MAN) not as high tech, or with as many gadgets, BUT dark & nocturnal with that maniacle super natural laugh, who is able to frighten his enemy's using hypnosis "clouding their minds" he also received his training in Tibet n the Orient from a Sage/wise master. A very classy unappreciated film
I never got into these movies until much, much later after all 3 movies were released. It was hard to push past the memes and enjoy the movie to it's fullest. Not my favorite, but definitely a solid well rounded movie.
Of two minds with this film. On the one hand, I enjoy this origin story take on it, I like how Bruce finds his motivation in how Maroni taught him how feeling pain does not have to regulate to oneself, and how he ultimately finds value in not trying to kill for the sake of not losing himself in that madness . And the other hand is pretty much when he's batman and it oddly doesn't feel quite as interesting then, along with Scarecrow given an absolutely stupid end (I'm still salty about that after all these years.) the action and editing were pretty bad, aside from the initial attack from Batman, and ultimately ends on a less than satisfying note with not questioning the murkiness of a kill you let happen, even if you didn't do it yourself. All in all, still very much recommend it, but it's admittedly off for me, I know that's hard for me to explain. Also it's kinda interesting how this film was angling at a Blade Runner feeling with Gotham, and I never got that sense, especially when the films went further into the realm of *realism* later. I got more of a Blade Runner feel with "The Batman" of this year, 2022, than I did with Batman Begins.
In my opinion this is the most realistic and best version of the batman.

While the Dark Knight is the best Batman Begins is still awesome erasing the memory of Batman and Robin One of the best casts of any Superhero movies
The movie at the time went under the radar having a hang over from 1997 batman and Robin. Big things were expected of Superman Returns by Bryan Singer reviving superman. wasn't to be
Love this movie, the entire dark knight trilogy is amazing , congratulations Joblo 👍👑🥇👏🏆🏅🏆👏🎺🎖😁🥇👑👑👍
I hate to be that guy, but.... Anthony Hopkins isn't English. He's Welsh.
I don't think that Batman killed Raz since he just let him die by his own mistakes. He saved his life once only to have him come back trying to destroy and kill people.
I wish the later films kept the same look of Gotham this movie had.
05:58 there is no such thing as the ‘Special Air Force’ in the UK. The badge on screen is of the SAS (Special Air Service)
Totally fantastic as for the tumbler that car will never be beaten for being the best bad ass vehicle
My favorite Batman Movie!! The Batman comes 2nd.
Still my favourite comic book adaptation to date, despite The Batman doing wonders.
Funny you should mention Blade Runner. In The Batman Gotham city reminded me of Ridley Scott's masterpice. In the opening scene of the Batman I half expected to see Decker pounding the rain soaked streets looking for replicas.
JNH's triumph is the music from "Grand Canyon," a soundtrack so good that I listen to it often. 😉
I love how the intro doesn’t show Kilmer or Clooney as Batman lol
6:55 Alfred was in the SAS ie Special Air Service not the ‘special airforce’.
Good review. Please assist the folks with hearing impairments and LOSE THE DISTRACTING BACKGROUND MUSIC. Thank you.
Not Special Air Force. SAS stands for Special Air Service. 22.SAS is a special forces unit of the British Army and part of the United Kingdom Special Forces.
Anthony Hopkins is Welsh, not English
This channel is STILL criminally underrated. C'mon RUclips!
Y'all forgot to add this to the DC Films Revisited playlist.
Bale uses the Keysi fighting method, not Wing Chun.
Otherwise this was great as usual!
Liam Nenson was a PERFECT FIT for "BATMAN FOREVER"!
But he may have been better as "Bane"...
2 vids in one day your spoiling us mate 😁👍
Special Air Force😂😂😂
It's Special Air Service.
Never realized that guy was supposed to be Victor Zsasz.
7:45 "Lee-am Neeson", eh? Interesting.
The best movie I've seen in the last 20 years
Eagerly waiting for your next revisited ❤️
This is awesome!! Thanks for the video
Best part of this was we got the answers to who created all of Batmans Wonderful Toys
The best batman in my book is Batman Returns but this trilogy was game changing for not just superhero films, but cinema as a whole.
I remember how I felt walking out of Batman Returns and I swore I wouldn't see another Batman movie and I was right until Nolan came along.
Best Batman movie to date.
