I love how you just keep it simple. Im new in music with my affection to jazz and blues genre. Make more video about technical in play these two amazing music! Thx sire
Nice video for those who understand scales, etc...but I couldn't really find the elements that compare Blues to Jazz. My brother (74) loves Blues and Rock but hates Jazz... I (60) love "classic" jazz (not modern jazz, Scofield style...Too complicated for me). I try to explain rationally the basic bigger differences between Blues and Jazz. Everyone seems to say "Jazz has more notes and variations", "Jazz is intellectual, blues is emotion" (I don't agree on that) These are subjective notions, not objective - But no one seems to mention anything about RHYTHM !... Too me, Blues notes come when they are expected while Jazz notes are syncopated, often coming before or after. I know nothing about theory and expected to hear something about rhythm to differentiate Blues and Jazz but no one seems to mention it ! AM I WRONG ??...
Great thoughts! There’s a lot that can be added to this discussion you’re right. I’m not a musicologist so I just try to examine and discuss the differences one at a time from a guitar player’s perspective. Rhythm is a vital aspect to see the similarities and growth from blues to jazz. I’m glad you brought that up and I’ll do another segment soon on it. These are just different adjoining rooms in the music mansion. Enjoy and please subscribe.
