Great video! I own a 1999 Miata for my track car and a 2019 RF Club for a daily. It’s hard to believe the two cars are 20 years apart and share such a common ethos. The ND brings a smile to my face every time I drive it. It has such a purity to the driving experience compared to any other reasonably priced road car on the market. Naturally aspirated engine, light weight, and great suspension geometry make for a car that is a blast to drive but doesn’t beat me up. I really appreciate that Mazda didn’t put super sticky tires on it and left some body roll in the suspension since it allows me to get the car moving around a bit on the street without pushing speeds that would be irresponsible. Save the R-compound tires for the track! Keep up the great content!

@Bruce Wayne Sorry to jump in on your comment to TankRust but just wanted to say that I have owned an ND2 for 2 years now and only put about 1000 miles a year on it, but it never fails to put a smile on my face, I am sure you will enjoy owning one, if you need more seats maybe try a Mini Cooper for close to that go kart feeling in cornering? My wife owns a Mini and I would say the MX5 has the edge for me for go kart feeling. Good luck with whatever you buy.

@Bruce Wayne I daily drive my car to work around 25 miles each way. It’s a mix of in town, curvy road, and highway driving. I enjoy the car every time I drive it, and have been for almost a year. When the weather is nice, which is lots of the time in Florida, I retract the top and it amplifies the driving fun. The car does have quite a bit of body roll, even in the club model. To me it is part of the character of the car. I have a 99 Miata that is a hardcore trackday car with solid motor mounts and tight suspension, but I wouldn’t enjoy that on the street. I would say if you enjoy spirited driving and don’t want to spend a ton of money, you will love the Miata. If you are after more acceleration and have more budget, look at a Cayman. The Mini line is also a good option, if you enjoy the handling of a front wheel drive car and don’t mind some extra weight, with the benefit of decent cargo room and a rear seat. I hope you enjoy whatever you end up with!

2020 club owner. BBS Brembo Recaro. Good car. 50 hp and little wider tires for more grip. It would be a awesome car. Great review!

This car is so much more fun with coilovers and anti-swaybars.

And lower the front and rear by about 1/2 to 1 inch and some sticky tires. Then that lil baby will rip those corners

@@Sam-vs5kg That's the beauty of coilovers. I'm currently dropped about a little over half an inch from stock. I'd go a bit lower, but the tires rub on 17x9s. Need to get the fenders rolled.

Better off getting an ND1IMO. The extra HP is just from higher revs. Driving experience is near identical between the two. Save yourself some cash.

NaqoyqatZ Tbh, the ability to tilt and telescope the steering wheel is another reason to like the ND2, but there are some ND1 bargains to be had. They say they have been improving the manual gearbox throughout the life of the ND.

@@TheNaqoyqatZ A higher revving engine is always better than a low revving engine. 1.) It always sounds better and more exciting. 2.) Means less unnecessary shifts when you are hitting the redline/fuel cut-off for a while on the straights before your reach the next corner. and thus less occasions of causing weight transfer.

The new engine doesn't like turbos or superchargers. So if you're planning on modifying, go ND1. You can have a faster car with less money. That said, I got a 30 anniversary (ND2) because I feel like the extra rpm is really important in terms of enjoyment. Just dont expect the MX-5 to be a fast car. I mean it's super fun but similarly priced sport hatchbacks will kick your ass around the track. I installed the 220 hp BBR kit+ stiffer coil-overs+ adjustable sway-bar (because as you can see in the video there is A LOT of body roll) and still trail behind my friends on a fairly tight track that should be advantageous to the MX-5.

I think this channel almost get the review, in both track day and usability, right. The cornering video shots and driver's on the limit skills were perfect. But the on board camera side view and bonnet view were confusing. I preferred simple 1 POV on helmet view or the fixed camera under the roof would be much more focus and informative.

Just bought a 2020 Miata Club WITHOUT Recaro seats. Why? I am only 5'7", perfect for a Miata. But I have a wide ribcage and broad shoulders. I test drove the Recaro seats and hated them immediately. The side bolsters are much too narrow for me and were very uncomfortable for even a short test drive. The stock Miata seats are better, but not by a whole lot. If only I could get a shorter version of the Audi S-line seats I had in my S3, this Miata Club would be Nirvana.
