So many things I love all together in one beautiful ensemble: lute+eagles+hitchhiker's guide... It's been a lousy day, your video popped up on my suggestion bar, I started listening to it on the background as I plodded through some meaningless work. I never knew the hitchhiker's theme was from an Eagles instrumental!! When I slowly recognized its tunes masterfully strummed on your lute, a huge smile cracked on my face; I stopped everything, read the video description, then lost myself surfing through the treasures on your channel. The anxiety attack I'd been pushing through all weekend just faded away. THANK YOU. I hope your days are filled with as much joy as you brought me... and more.
I first heard this song as a junior high student when it was first released and it immediately became my favorite song by The Eagles. it still is. I heard it so many years later as the theme to The Hitchhiker 's Guide to the Galaxy and was impressed that they use that song. I have never heard another rendition of it buy another artist and when I saw this I had to check it out. I am so glad that I did. That is the perfect instrument and you have obviously taken great pains to be true to the spirit of the song. Thank you very much for that and for sharing it
My parents would watch Hitchhikers Guide on PBS when we were kids and I remember the intro song and graphics that went with it. This is brilliant, thank you
This piece never fails to fill my heart with the strength and perseverance, no matter what the quest or objective I will run head into the fray because that's where the adventures and what is life if not one grand adventure. Gratitude Daniel Estrem and Bernie Leadon for keeping the adventurers spirit alive through one of humanities most powerful the magics, Music ❤
Written by Bernie Leadon. I had been working on playing this on my Zither Banjo, but I am very much in the early stages of learning that instrument and have gotten sidetracked by other commitments. The tone of the Lute very much suits this and the Zither Banjo is a lot closer to this than to the American style Banjo. Beautiful playing, as always.
22-06-2020 BUENAS NOCHES DANIEL ; muy lindo tema , me gusta Eagles tiene unos temas hermosos muchas gracias .abrazos y feliz verano .Aca en Argentina hace mucho frio . bendiciones.
Very nice! I didn't recognize the title, but quickly recognized it as the source for the "Hitchhiker's" theme. I've really been liking the work you have been posting.
Excellent work, Dan! I was watching your interpretation of "White Room" and there were a couple of movements which made me think of "Journey..." and when I searched for it, here it was!
Hey, you sass that hoopy Daniel Estrem? There's a frood who really knows where his lute is. Silly quotes aside, thanks so much for this. I listen to it all the time, but never thought to request it. You made my evening. P.S.: Any chance of a lute cover of Sweet Child O' Mine?
I remember when I heard this song on the "one of these nights" album in 1975. I thought it was the best cut on the album. You do it justice with a single instrument, considering the original was accompanied by an orchestra.
@@danbluedeer Honestly: I thought you were you gonna use the bass notes for the ennio morricone style "horns" sound on the crescendo. I respect the straight playthrough style keeping with what a lute actually is. Well done sir.

I must admit I can imagine a courtly gavotte or even a saltarello based on this interpretation (and would love to see a fantasy or period drama expand on this possibility), but this gives a wonderful alternate life to the Eagle's (and HHGTTH) theme of cosmic journeys... A great rendition. It will always be the theme to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy to me.
