    Hi Alfi, I have used Prop Speed on my yacht here in New Zealand for around 14 years now, and found it performs very well :)
    She is looking great ! Hope you get the varnish on well before Winter. Yes, I understand how tedious the prep work is, and also how important it is !
    It is Spring here. Had a beautiful sail on Wednesday evening, but now we have rain and strong wind forecast :(
    Summer starts around middle of December, so a lot of us head off for our Summer cruise around Boxing Day.
    Definitely looking forward to that :)
    Kind regards, John.

    She looks beautiful. The end result is great, not everyone understands how tedious the job is to get it this way!!
    Stay well. Stay happy. Peace.

    What a jaunty boat! An HC ketch has been my dream boat for decades. Nearly traded the house for a pilot house version in the Caribbean but the reality of boat ownership kept me ashore. Cheers for sharing your lovely craft. 🎉

    I'm so glad our paths will never cross! I'm used to being the most beautiful boat in the anchorage ;-) . If you showed up, I would have to way anchor and go somewhere else to spend the day.... (You're in my most favorite vessel, but I'm still partial to my Cabo Rico 45...)

    Looking forward to more cruising on Northern Dancer. Always beautiful scenery. I'm sitting on my boat on the other side of the continent in North Carolina doing the same thing as the beginning of the video. I've done all of my projects now I'm waiting on the yard crew to paint the bottom and put the boat back in the water. It feels weird being on the boat when it doesn't move. My brain still thinks it's moving because that's what boats are supposed to do. I can't wait till she is floating again.

      @lifeislikesailing  День назад

      I always feel like the boat is moving when it is on the hard, definitely not a comforting feeling. I hope splashing your boat goes smoothly! :)

    Hi Alfy, looking at your through-hulls, I wondered why their bores were not anti-fouled? The weeds and fouling creatures seemed to get in every little crevice on my boat. The propeller was rendered inoperative after a fortnight of I didn’t anti foul it. Your waters must be more benevolent than Bass Strait (southern Australia).

    • @lifeislikesailing
      @lifeislikesailing  2 дня назад

      Around here some people put anti fouling pain on them, some people leave them bare, and this time we are trying a zinc coating which is less effective that anti fouling paint, but worth a try. If the boat gets used then there is always less growth, it is when they sit that the growth will be worse. :)

    I don’t understand why yards don’t just put another jack stand in next to one they are painting by so they can get two coats on the ENTIRE hull and not leave patches with only one coat just before going back in.

    • @grakkerful
      @grakkerful 3 дня назад +1

      I'm pretty sure it's a liability thing. I have heard of yards that will move them for you. That said, I've never pulled my boat and had issues specifically from the quick slap on paint.

    • @lifeislikesailing
      @lifeislikesailing  3 дня назад +1

      They usually do move the stands one time prior to being put back in and I am sure they did it this time as well. A good tip for placing the stand over the recently painted surface is to put wax paper between the hull and the wooden stand pad. :)

    • @lifeislikesailing
      @lifeislikesailing  3 дня назад +1

      They usually do move the stands if there is time. The yard will never allow the boat owner to do it for liability reasons, but every yard I have dealt with will move the stands for me when I ask. :)
