I only train in the gi. That being said, I've played my fair share of half guard, and I'd have to say that I love the lockdown. It allows you to easily manipulate your opponents base while decreasing your risk of being passed. I will say that I switch between traditional and lockdown depending on where my opponent has his weight.
To all of those who underestimate the 10th planet JJ go now and watch Metamoris 3 Eddie Bravo vs Royler Gracie, it looks like all the lockdowns, electric chairs other Vaporizer crazy stuff can work pretty good against a high level fighter. Marcelo is just above and beyond levels :)
Sup Pawel - it does work, no question, but there are defenses and counters and Eddie is far from the only guy moving BJJ forward. He has not produced an ADCC champion and that has to be the true measure. There has been one twister submission in the UFC and nothing of Eddie's has been really successful in MMA that I am aware of. I thought the fight was more indicative of the time bubble Royler has been living in for the last decade. As Eddie himself observed, Royler had no understanding of what was going on. If you didn't know Eddie's game you might have thought he was losing. My take was that Eddie has aged better than Royler in terms of physical condition and technical evolution.

I dunno how much Scott have trained with the gi. But Marcelo uses almost exclusively use nogi-grips in this roll with Scott. I've also seen a video of them roll nogi, and the result was excatly the same... of course! :) There's a big difference in skill level between the two.
He trained at Legends BJJ and some place in new york for 4-5 years. I believe he has a first degree black belt. And 1 year of experience isn't going to master the rubber gaurd. Don't be so ignorant about it. It's a very solid offensive and Defensive position that most schools are not familiar with.
