I've seen the Rooster render wax, it's the same way Superman would make a diamond. He'd take a chunk of coal, and using his super strength, compress it and make a 40 carat diamond. The Rooster grabs about 50 pounds of old bees wax in his watermelon hands, and using his super strength, compresses 40 pounds of wax out of the comb leaving only a pile of dirty cocoons to dig out from under his finger nails. You got to admire him for that. Thanks for watching. God's peace Willie. Mr. Ed

Is there a more upbeat person on RUclips than Jeff? I don't think I've ever come across anyone who's so infectiously joyful. I can only imagine that if you're feeling down five minutes of talking to Jeff would sort things out. Thank you Jeff for bringing sunshine into our lives 🐝✌️
My Mother used to use the phrase, "Busy as a bee." For you to harvest so much precious honey and wax, the busy little bees worked tirelessly. And now you and your helper prepared an environment to give the wax back to the busy little bees so that the process begins anew. Wonderful to watch. Take care, stay safe, and God bless. 🐝🐝🐝

Hello dear friends. I want to help. I'd like wild bee wax. I forgot, I'm a student and on my way to an in-depth research I wanted some wild bee wax. I'd like an answer, please.
i can truthfully say "Mr Ed here" is the SAME nice guy you see on his vids! We had to pleasure to meet Mr Eday a bee conference in Alexandria last fall! Great speaker and a joy to listen and learn from! He is definately the real.deal!!😎
AE or the discovery channel should pick this guy up. He doesn't need a gimmick like some of the typical hosts. He's just genuinely interesting. I've been binge watching him for a couple days

Omg the smile and satisfaction when he was talking to us after it was all done was truly wholesome. I actually felt sooo good inside. 🤗 Thanks, I find enjoyment in the the melting and cleaning of the wax.
So glad to hear you enjoyed the video, and as much as I love rendering wax, saving bees tops that. Most of my videos are I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. One tip. I just put all the "dirty" wax in some bigger cloth. Like a big kitchen cloth. Put some stones in the cloth with the wax to keep it down below water and melt. Most dirt will stay in the cloth and the wax will be nearly all cleen allready the first melt. Just a little hello from Sweden!🤟💛🐝
Welcome to the wonderful world of keeping bees, you are going to love the adventure. I'm happy to share my experiences in the hopes of helping folks like yourself. Thanks so much for watching, and I look forward to hearing from you again. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Sure is nice to have top class equipment instead of using rudimentary things working in a driveway, basement, or garage with bees flying everywhere...I went 100% foundationless this season and the bees draw perfectly everytime!!!
Now lout was a lotto wax to render down for sure. And I thought the roller method was pretty efficient but I gotta tell you really dipping these foundations in that cattle is the cat's meow for sure. Thanks for sharing my friend.
It was a lot of wax which is why it took so long to make this video, there are days between the rendering process. Still, it's worth the effort to wind up with frames that looked as good as these did. Dipping beats the heck out of rolling every time. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

Mr. Ed!!!! Good Morning My Friend! Now THAT is a big ole stack of bee's wax. The anti-inflammatory benefits of bee's wax is appealing. It's also good for the skin to prevent "environmental" attacks. It's definitely on my bucket-list. *Have a wonderful weekend Mr. Ed and stay well, safe, and protected!*

I put mine in the oven. Container of water, paper filter attached at the top, wax chunks laid on top of the filter. As it melts it goes through the filter and lands on a layer of water. Keep adding chunks of wax as they melt through. Voila. Easy peazy. Of course this works for smaller not larger amounts like our dear Mr. Ed has here lol.😁 Choose happy, be kind everybody. God bless.

Mr. Ed you have shown me something I have always wanted to know! I have always been curious about how this process was done, and now I know. 👍😊 I know how you might do it if you have a small batch (the crock pot), and how YOU have decided to do it now that you have so many hives to tend. Most importantly, I know WHY you do it! Awesome informative video to watch on what has turned into a rainy day here in central Florida. Hope you all are still safe and sound up there. God bless!
Personally, I find the process of rendering wax fascinating and fun. To start with obvious trash and transform it into a beautiful looking and wonderfully smelling block of wax is just so cool. Glad you enjoyed the video. thank you for your blessing and for watching. God's peace Diane. Mr. Ed

On a much smaller scale, using a Kelley Beekeeping model KH100, I place steel wool pads (held in place by binder clips) in the output shoot to strain the wax and it works great. I also uncap in this same setup using the steel wool to strain the capping honey. I keep the capping honey separate as it seems to have a higher pollen content. Health food customers prefer it.
My method of placing the netting in the throat of the nozzle uses the same pretense as the steel wool you describe, it works very well. Thanks for watching. God's peace Bob. Mr. Ed

I've got to get me one of those shop aprons. It really makes you look like you should know what you're doing. Maybe I can make one out of a horse blanket.

You sir are what we used to call a character and believe me there are not many around these days. My setup was a lot smaller than yours and I found that a good long solar wax melter (three stages) at a low angle gave me wax so clean I did not have to do anything more to have it ready for sale. We did not have plastic foundation in those days so purchasing manufactured stuff was easyier than trying to make your own. Look forward to more videos.
My mom used to call me a character as well, but she always rolled her eyes as she said it. I just thought she must have something in them. I have come a long way in my 25 plus years of keeping bees, and along the way, the equipment has gotten a lot better and making things so much faster. Solar melters are great and just about anyone can make one, I never had the success that you had and always had to much trash in it. Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching. Until the next time, God's peace Bob. Mr. Ed

Love this video Mr Ed. When I bought my very first Bee Hive kit .. it was a beginners kit from Sears back in the 80s . The whole kit and the frames had to be assembled and it had frame foundations that had to be inserted into the frames. and they had bees wax already coating the Foundations. Assembling the whole bee hive parts was a lot of fun in itself. Thank you very much for this video . : )
I had just started keeping bees in the early 80's....when things were a lot simpler. Now a days, the plastic foundation can be purchased with a wax coating, but you will pay more for it. Great story Ed, thanks for sharing it, and for watching. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed

Do it like the dirt rooster does
The Dirt Rooster would love to have a setup like Mr Eds.

Mr. Ed, your videos are always so calming. I still think you’re the Bob Ross of bees. Thank you for sharing your love of bees.
What a great compliment to be compared to Bob Ross, thank you. So glad to hear the videos help you to wind down, it's my pleasure to share my bee wrangling adventures. Thanks for watching. God's peace.

Sir your videos make my blood pressure go down. Thanks so much. I'll never keep a single bee, but your videos calm me. I appreciate that! Be safe Sir
Thank you for your concern Wayne, I hope you stay safe as well. It's so heart warming when I hear comments like yours, I'm delighted to hear my videos have a calming effect for you. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother.

OK, where do I send the check? Thanks so much for your very kind words, and taking the time to watch the video. God's peace Ian.
Mr. Ed
It's the way recycling should work, and with the bees and wax, it does. Thank you for your blessings, concern, and for watching. Stay safe yourself Rose Mary, God's peace.

Morning Mr. Ed. hope you are keeping well and safe.

My mom did sewing at an upholstery shop. She had a chunk of beeswax to rub on the needle when it was encountering too much friction in the work material.

I'd like an answer, please.
Your smile is so genuine its infectious!

i can truthfully say "Mr Ed here" is the SAME nice guy you see on his vids!
You are way to kind, I'm just a bee wrangler who loves sharing his experiences and spreading a bit of happiness as I go. Thank you for the time you are putting in watching my adventures, I hope you feel it is time well spent. Until the next one, God's peace.
Mr. Ed
I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 8 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.

Wow! I find it so cool that the wax that comes from the combs get reused to make new combs!

Mr. Ed, I love all of your videos, but the ones where you work with wax are my absolute favorite. You’ve made my day! God bless and stay safe!
So glad to hear you enjoy watching my bee wrangling adventures, and like you, the rendering of wax and harvesting the honey are always favorites of mine as they are quite different than a removal is. Thank you for your blessing and for watching. God's peace Robert.

Not necessary, but I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd keep on watching my bee wrangling adventures. Thanks for your kind words and for watching. God's peace Trevor.
Mr. Ed
Thank you for your suggestion, I will try it and see what happens. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
I just started beekeeping this year. The videos you and others make have been a great addition to the classes I took. Keep them coming.

Sure is nice to have top class equipment instead of using rudimentary things working in a driveway, basement, or garage with bees flying everywhere...I went 100% foundationless this season and the bees draw perfectly everytime!!!
I do love having the bees draw out their own comb, it's pure art. Yes, I am blessed to have some very good equipment. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed
Very Educational! you are such a great teacher and easy to watch, great job! God Bless you and stay safe

Mr. Ed!!!! Good Morning My Friend! Now THAT is a big ole stack of bee's wax. The anti-inflammatory benefits of bee's wax is appealing. It's also good for the skin to prevent "environmental" attacks. I cannot wait for travel bans and social distancing to be lifted so that I can make my way to the Abbey. It's definitely on my bucket-list. *Have a wonderful weekend Mr. Ed and stay well, safe, and protected!*
What a great day that will bee to get to meet you in person! The smell of the bee's wax melting is intoxicating, so sweet. I know that's the reason the bees love it so much. Thanks for your love, concern, and of course for watching. God's peace LD.

I like that you reused every part of a bee comb. Bees do so much for us/earth!!
It is in appreciation of the work of the humble honey bees that I take so much effort to reuse the products they produce.......except the honey, I eat that. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 8 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. God bless.
As is the case in most matters of life, find what works for you, work on perfecting and refining it, keep learning, and always enjoy the ride. I love how you ended your comment and would add " be kind to everybody every day." Thank you for your blessing and for watching. God's peace.

Are we just not going to address the old wizard that showed up in the time lapse?
Lol when he said it's an Abby it's no joke. That's one of the monks
No wizard there, that's a real modern day monk who lives at the monastery where I tend the bees for them. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
I thought it was friar Tuck.
Did the monk have a party gallon of ice cream? I was a little confused until I saw the Monk Run t-shirt.

I've got to get me one of those shop aprons. It really makes you look like you should know what you're doing. Maybe I can make one out of a horse blanket.

25:27 I love how the dark wizard shows up out of nowhere and checks out the wax dipping
He is no dark wizard, he is a monk. I keep the bees for a group of Benedictine monks in Louisiana, St. Joseph Abbey. His name is Brother Andrew, and the fellow working with me, though not wearing his habit, is a monk as well. His name is Brother Austin. Every thing that bees produce makes people so much more appreciative of what they do for us. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 450 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video almost every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Hector.
Mr. Ed

This channel should have over 1million subs, its the best and most informative. When jeff introduces things, and then gets into the reasoning and definition, its like the most valuable free information this universe can provide. Jeff, you are a great man! Keep it up! I watch all of your videos

Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff I love the way you coated your Fames. The whole video was fascinating to watch.

Mr. Ed
Anyone else here know nothing about bees and is just here?
Same... my wife bought bees and now I'm struggling to learn asap
Maddie M love watching Mr Ed and Dirt Rooster but I’m clue less, learned a lot from these guys.
I for one and so happy you decided to watch. I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. God's peace Maddie..
