- Our third exclusive Laughter in Lockdown stream is the closing event of Slapstick 2020 - 'I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again... Again!'
The show's producer and director, Barnaby Eaton-Jones, says:
'I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again' was the very funny and deliciously anarchic radio comedy sketch show from the BBC that was the precursor to 'The Goodies', 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' and 'I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue'. It ran from the early 1960s to the early 1970s with the regular Wonder Team of Tim Brooke-Taylor, John Cleese, David Hatch, Jo Kendall and Bill Oddie (with music by Dave Lee and The Boys), including a special anniversary reunion in 1989.
In 2016, The OFFSTAGE Theatre Group revived it as a stage show - which is still touring under an exclusive license.
This special performance of their original full-length touring script (for the finale of the Slapstick Festival at the Bristol Old Vic) also features The Goodies themselves, reprising roles from their ISIRTA days. It also features a special appearance from Slapstick Festival director Chris Daniels!
Sadly, it was to be Tim Brooke-Taylor's last public performance as his infamous character, Lady Constance de Coverlet; as the pandemic virus robbed us of him doing any future turns a few weeks later. We miss him madly and this show is a tribute to his wit, energy, and exquisite comedy timing.

I'm a '90s kid, but I'm glad I grew up on this show.
I’m a 90’s kid who grew up on this too!
We should go for a drink sometime😂
In the 60s, whe I was young, my family always listened to ISIRTA. Losing Tim feels as though I've lost a part of my childhood. RIP you talented man, and thank you for everything.
If Tim was here today, he'd say, "Don't cry for me, Maggie Brinkley."
From America: ISIRTA was a big part of my youth; we found it on an NPR radio station in New York, and never missed it. I even managed to obtain bootlegs of all the ISIRTA radio shows. This was an absolute delight. Knowing that we lost Tim in the few months since this show was performed made his appearances especially bittersweet. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this available.
Thank you so much for your comment! It was a very special event for us at the festival... and we have been very lucky to have been given permission to share it here.
Thank you so much for uploading this. It's wonderful to see The three of them performing together and the spirit of ISIRTA being carried on in such capable hands.
We were so lucky to have all three with us at the festival - glad you enjoyed the show!
Fantastic remake of the funniest show on radio. 😂
Awesome. I love the goodies. RIP Tim. The world will be a sad place without your presence.
Came over from ireland to see 4 events at the Bristol slapstick festival this year. This was one of them. This show was so good. Tim i will miss your performances
This is the best way to remember him. May his memory ever be honoured .
Glad to hear you enjoyed it! :)
I remember when I was 11 back in 1989, a mate told me to listen to this radio show. I was dubious but god I laughed so hard. The following week I started recording them off air, beginning with "10,000 BC". Radio NZ played the rest of that season then went straight into The Curse of the Flying Wombat season, then finished their run with the 25th anniversary special. I don't have my recordings anymore but have digital copies of all 106 episodes. Loved this series.
Wow, I wish I had known this was on at the time! And then it was going to be on in Bath, a fact that I only found out about because Tim had died. A wonderful collection of favourite sketches with the odd line or two from many more sketches thrown in here and there. "Join us again in another 25 years" said David Hatch in the 1989 show, and after all these years it's great to see some of old team working together ("well there's first time for everything"). RIP Lady Constance de Coverlet, much missed.
Thank you for the comments! We have been very lucky to host this on our RUclips channel! Tim was a dear friend of the festival and we miss him very much!
Thank you for sharing this historic performance. Tim was clearly in fine form and we are all the poorer for losing him. Wonderful to see him, Bill, and Graeme together one last time.
We are glad to be able to share this and to read all of the kind words.
i guess I'm kinda off topic but does anybody know a good site to watch newly released tv shows online?
@Noe Soren Flixportal =)
@Shiloh Jeffrey thanks, I signed up and it seems to work :D I really appreciate it !
@Noe Soren you are welcome :)
Stuff Your Gibbon was transplanted to Australia where it became known as Woggling Your Wombat.
Angus Prune sounds suspiciously like Major Dennis Bloodnok.
It was just as much fun to watch Tim sitting in the back, giggling away happily at the performance. Thanks so much for posting this!
Yes, it was great to be able to revisit this!
Enjoyed completely had me cracking up all the way through. 😅😂😃 But on a sad note this was Tim's last performance. R.I.P Tim. Tah for shareing this video. Very special 😇
Yes, it was a very special evening! We miss TIm so much!
Oh this is lovely stuff. Saw this performance at the Old Vic. I laughed so hard, it was so good ;)
It really is lovely, isn't it?
Brilliant !!!
I could not agree more.
Glad you enjoyed it!
absolutely brilliant, when poossible would it be feasable to make a dvd of this with the proceeds going to one of Tim's favoured charities maybe? :)
Glad you enjoyed it! It was great fun being able to revisit the evening! As far as your question, I would suggest reaching out to the people behind the show... you can find them on Twitter - @ISIRTA_Again
Interesting.
The woman is absolutely ravishing!
Nice, but I'm so disappointed Tim didn't do Lady Constance. Such a wasted opportunity!
You need to watch the whole show! Tim shows up as Lady Constance in the second half :)
Ooops! Spoke too soon. That just made my day!
@@brettatkinson987 That's good to hear!
Very Employable. Oh I mean Enjoyable.. silly auto correct.. or was it....
Glad that you employed it... enjoyed it! hahaha
Well, The Goodies were funny but I found the others annoying.
