The Cosworth may just be a more reliable engine than was originally in that BAR. What a car, so refreshing to see an open wheeler with an unobstructed view from the halo, crisp sound of a V10 shrieking down the straight!
Was fortunate enough to witness these cars during their time in F1. Trust me, seeing and hearing 24 of these cars on a track at full throttle is life changing.
Watching a full grid in 2005 at Indy (US Grand Prix--F1) was/is still the LOUDEST race start of any motorsport I've attended and I've pretty much been to any motorsport league there is! 2000's F1 V10 era was absolutely special and to watch it live in person as a teen was so incredible!
That sound is as good as it'll ever get. A 19K RPM V10 howling off into the distance? With that first beastly, then melancholic melody to it? It's just...heaven.
What I really like is that it is apparent that Dan truly appreciates what he has. You could see it in his face and you can hear it in his words. Thank you for sharing this.
Great engines from the 90's and 2000's, I heard them in the Ardennes, it was indescribable. Thank you for letting me experience that. HONDA unfortunately didn't celebrate great successes in the 2000-s, but in the eighties and early nineties they showed what kind of engines they can build. And today again in the F 1. Go HONDA.
90s-mid 2000s is the pinnacle of F1. It embodies the evolution of what is F1 to be remembered about. All out RAW power. Not about fuel and Engine (so not used to call the Power Unit) conservation and less synthetic power enhancers like hybrid tech.
There's a team of 5 needed track side. Then, fewer engine rebuilds than the original engine would have needed. I don't know exact specs as these are kept confidential. I'll see what I can find out next time. Thanks for watching 😁👍
Who wouldn't want a functioning F1 car?! If Jacques Villeneuve drove this, then it's on my list of absolute dream F1 cars to own...and I'd take a crappy back marker than finished only 1 race....#1 on my list is the car Gilles Villeneuve drove in the 1978 Canadian grand Prix, Nick mason used to own it, it's in Canada now. #2 is the car Jacques won the Championship in, Williams say they have, Jacques says it was given to him then he sold it, really any Williams he drove that season counts. #3 would be any car eith jacques or Gilles drove, so this car would fit that category.
I have got the Honda X8RS in the team colours that was used as the paddock bike for the drivers, V5C is still in British American Racing’s name, it hasn’t done 10 miles, it should be with that car really.
I don't know much about F1 but this was so fascinating to watch. Dan's smile is so child like and lovely. Seeing him light up as he stars at her is just how car enjoyment should always be. Thank you so much to Dan for sharing his car with us. I hope he has many more fun track sessions in this gorgeous car.

I'm not sure you'd want to share the track with anyone else anyway, in case someone else loses control of their car and collides with this one. Some people have complained, some have loved it. Some didn't notice because it's a part of the story telling and the ONLY time in the whole video where there's music over the engine sound... I remember my first time hearing V10's during the race on the nurburgring, Germany. I already had goosebumbs when i heared the cars starting. And i was standing 2 miles away from the box at the other side of the track 😅
I went to siverstone in the early 90s ,the sound of all those f1 cars going round lap after lap at full throttle will stick with me till my last breath, the noise was like god making thunder for you ,
This BAR was one of my favourite cars when I was 6-7 years old, the lucky strike logo was one of the coolest things I'd seen at that point just after to the Jordan's Shark Teeth EJ11 car.

I swear I've heard the "You donated to the Mercedes team, so you are technically a part of Lewis winning championships" part in another video. Obviously, it wasn't in this video, but it's odd that I've heard it said before. OR To be more realistic, it's odd that _I think I've heard it before._
Kool, I Havnt seen that Chassis for some time. BAR003 Was JV's Race Car I believe. Probably the Best Ostler/Green designed BAR/BAR Honda they did. Nice to see it still running...
As you say, it became Brawn GP, the most successful F1 team in history winning 100% of the championships it was entered into. And Brawn laid out everything that ultimately made Mercedes win. If it weren't for the coup that Toto and Laura did with the Mercedes board (because they spoke German and Brawn didn't), he'd have been in charge when they won again. I credit Mercedes success to Brawn and add that to his time at Renault and Ferrari where he made the teams win. What Toto did right was not to dismantle the work Brawn did, what Ferrari did was to dismantle Brawn's work.
How many revs it can do now? I've read that ex-F1 V10 cars are limited to 11-12k for entertaining purpose such as racing schools, though they originally did 18-19k rpm
This one goes to to 18,600. You can adjust the map from the steering wheel (discussed briefly in the car journey there). Dan tends not to go above 16,000. The experience centres rarely have an F1 spec engine, and when they do they rev limit to prevent people getting into too much trouble and to keep maintenance costs down. As this is Dan's personal car, he can rev it to whatever he wants 😁
Haha! I know right?! The truth is, many F1 cars are sold as a rolling chassis without an engine or the rights that allow the original parts to be remanufactured. They're showpieces rather than running cars. Dan did it right, got an engine for it and the rights and original CAD files to run it. Legend!
@@sportzntouring That was my understanding also when it came to powerplants. Usually the mfgs don’t let those go. I was at the Newman-Haas Racing Auction last October, they had only a few Ford-Cossie XD engines for the chassis. Most cars were just rollers as well. The one that still blows my mind is the Da Matta ‘02 Toyota Lola. Only two in existence, the one on hand that day, and the other is at the Toyota Japan Museum. The car went ridiculously low in the auction. Working TRD Toyota, electronics, laptops, spares, etc. $200,000 out the door! 😳😳😳🏁

Didn't one of these Honda's attempt 400kmph ? And I think it fell short ran 400+ one way but didn't achieve 400 on return run. 1986 when F1 cars were producing 1500 HP in qualifying trim they must've had potential for 450 + KMPH, 3 HP per kilo back than. Bugatti Veyron around 1 HP per kilo Absolute beasts of F1 cars back then wheel spin on dry tracks 350 KMPH was often reported by drivers Real man back then
In the mid-80s they ran wings at Monza and Hockenheim which you'd think are plenty for Monaco yet still reached 360 kph. Weight though does play next to no role in regards to topspeed, once something is moving past a certain speed it's all about the drag and F1 cars are as slippery as a truck (AFAIK just lifting of the gas pedal decelerates the car at ~1 G) while the Veyron is very slippery. Anyway, just for reference IndyCars with above 1000 bhp did 410+ kph on ovals with superspeedway aero packages in the 90s & in 2000 while even more slippery Group C cars just needed ~900 bhp to crack 400 kph at Le Mans in 1989.
I remember this car for sale on Autotrader back in 2010 - it was listed as an NSX ( there isn't a slot for an F1 car!). It was being sold by an enthusiast, without an engine, for £40,000. FORTY GRAND! you cannot buy a Tesla for that money now. Admittedly a good NSX gen 1 was 20k back then. I was tempted, but no way could I afford to have a Cosworth V10 built bespoke.

Just to clarify, my car was purchased from Brawn directly, it was never on auto trader and it was never auctioned. The only owners were Bar Honda, Brawn and I.

Imagine having a dream, working bloody hard (and as sad as it is being black is also an untold hurdle to jump) and finally realising your dream and it being everything you hoped it would be. Dan has travelled a long road with ups and downs and found there is a rainbow at the end👍

Bryan's point is that it's all the more challenging to achieve what we achieve on average. There's lots of data on the extra barriers in life and business underpinning the statement. So, just recognising it's extra work generally, when all else is equal, is ok I think.

For reasons of confidentiality with the suppliers who helped rebuild the car, we can't say. More than just buying a rolling chassis as is normally seen at various auctions.

True, however, those cars are generally just a rolling chassis, no engine and no rights to remanufacture parts - basically just for show. Dan's car, the rights, combined with the cosworth built engine, the kit to run it on the track (which we couldn't show here due to other customer's items stored adjacent to it)... This is a very very different proposition.
Thanks for watching, but I'm slightly confused by your comment, since the music stops the majority of the time when there's engine sounds. Did you skip those parts? At the end, one of the few if not only times there is music over engine notes, the text on the screen tells you where you can view the raw clips. Then the music stops so you can hear the screaming V10 on its own just before the outro.

I remember my first time hearing V10's during the race on the nurburgring, Germany. I already had goosebumbs when i heared the cars starting. And i was standing 2 miles away from the box at the other side of the track 😅

This BAR was one of my favourite cars when I was 6-7 years old, the lucky strike logo was one of the coolest things I'd seen at that point just after to the Jordan's Shark Teeth EJ11 car.

As you say, it became Brawn GP, the most successful F1 team in history winning 100% of the championships it was entered into.
And Brawn laid out everything that ultimately made Mercedes win. If it weren't for the coup that Toto and Laura did with the Mercedes board (because they spoke German and Brawn didn't), he'd have been in charge when they won again. I credit Mercedes success to Brawn and add that to his time at Renault and Ferrari where he made the teams win. What Toto did right was not to dismantle the work Brawn did, what Ferrari did was to dismantle Brawn's work.

How many revs it can do now? I've read that ex-F1 V10 cars are limited to 11-12k for entertaining purpose such as racing schools, though they originally did 18-19k rpm
This one goes to to 18,600. You can adjust the map from the steering wheel (discussed briefly in the car journey there). Dan tends not to go above 16,000. The experience centres rarely have an F1 spec engine, and when they do they rev limit to prevent people getting into too much trouble and to keep maintenance costs down. As this is Dan's personal car, he can rev it to whatever he wants 😁

Haha! I know right?! The truth is, many F1 cars are sold as a rolling chassis without an engine or the rights that allow the original parts to be remanufactured. They're showpieces rather than running cars. Dan did it right, got an engine for it and the rights and original CAD files to run it. Legend!
@@sportzntouring That was my understanding also when it came to powerplants. Usually the mfgs don’t let those go. I was at the Newman-Haas Racing Auction last October, they had only a few Ford-Cossie XD engines for the chassis. Most cars were just rollers as well.
The one that still blows my mind is the Da Matta ‘02 Toyota Lola. Only two in existence, the one on hand that day, and the other is at the Toyota Japan Museum. The car went ridiculously low in the auction. Working TRD Toyota, electronics, laptops, spares, etc. $200,000 out the door! 😳😳😳🏁

Didn't one of these Honda's attempt 400kmph ? And I think it fell short ran 400+ one way but didn't achieve 400 on return run. 1986 when F1 cars were producing 1500 HP in qualifying trim they must've had potential for 450 + KMPH, 3 HP per kilo back than.
Bugatti Veyron around 1 HP per kilo
Absolute beasts of F1 cars back then wheel spin on dry tracks 350 KMPH was often reported by drivers

In the mid-80s they ran wings at Monza and Hockenheim which you'd think are plenty for Monaco yet still reached 360 kph. Weight though does play next to no role in regards to topspeed, once something is moving past a certain speed it's all about the drag and F1 cars are as slippery as a truck (AFAIK just lifting of the gas pedal decelerates the car at ~1 G) while the Veyron is very slippery. Anyway, just for reference IndyCars with above 1000 bhp did 410+ kph on ovals with superspeedway aero packages in the 90s & in 2000 while even more slippery Group C cars just needed ~900 bhp to crack 400 kph at Le Mans in 1989.

I remember this car for sale on Autotrader back in 2010 - it was listed as an NSX ( there isn't a slot for an F1 car!). It was being sold by an enthusiast, without an engine, for £40,000. FORTY GRAND! you cannot buy a Tesla for that money now. Admittedly a good NSX gen 1 was 20k back then. I was tempted, but no way could I afford to have a Cosworth V10 built bespoke.
Are you 100% sure it was this one? There's more than one chassis from that year. As with all car bargains, buying it is one thing - running it is another. F1 car thrills comes with F1 car bills 😂

Imagine having a dream, working bloody hard (and as sad as it is being black is also an untold hurdle to jump) and finally realising your dream and it being everything you hoped it would be.

Bryan's point is that it's all the more challenging to achieve what we achieve on average. There's lots of data on the extra barriers in life and business underpinning the statement. So, just recognising it's extra work generally, when all else is equal, is ok I think.
An untold hurdle that gets mentioned constantly? I'd say it's told beyond what it should be, and the more it happens, the worse off we all are.

It’s crazy how cheap some recent F1 cars sold at auction. Ocon’s 2017 or 2018 car sold for $80K
True, however, those cars are generally just a rolling chassis, no engine and no rights to remanufacture parts - basically just for show. Dan's car, the rights, combined with the cosworth built engine, the kit to run it on the track (which we couldn't show here due to other customer's items stored adjacent to it)... This is a very very different proposition.

Thanks for watching, but I'm slightly confused by your comment, since the music stops the majority of the time when there's engine sounds. Did you skip those parts?
At the end, one of the few if not only times there is music over engine notes, the text on the screen tells you where you can view the raw clips. Then the music stops so you can hear the screaming V10 on its own just before the outro.
Agreed, everybody on social media has to use bgm with that annoying techno snare crap..... Good content and cool to see, but that bgm is annoying as f*ck
