Yes, you did it Mikkel! 💪👏🏼💪Throwing 44 pounds, will help you when you throw 22 pounds. It will feel small in comparison. And the more you do it, the better you’ll get! You were smart in throwing a planter. A wider base makes it easier to pull your walls.
What a great video, full of interesting information. Here's a trick: when centring such a large piece of clay, to press down, try using your forearm instead of your hands. It's much easier to put one's weight on the clay using a forearm instead of using one's hands.
There are these documentaries from the -50's by Pathé (I think) about the Brittish pottery industry. There was one episode where they made big pots like this. Often when learning a new skill it helps to mimic someone who knows what they are doing. That might bring some insight that one misses with theory alone. One thing I noticed as someone with no experience is they all worked standing up. Hopefully this turns up great. 💪👍
I agree. The great thing today is that we have access to so many good videos - and even old documentaries about pottery making. But I also got training from a couple of the best Danish potters. Some things are hard to learn just from video :-)
This was so good! I made a pit for firing after watching several of your videos!! I have fallen in love recently with throwing large and this was so great thank you SO MUCH for your content!! I appreciate your love for the art and sharing your knowledge! 💜💜😍
This was amazing to see, and so much hard work! " Is it gonna fail? I don't know. Is it gonna be fun? Hell yeah!" That's the essence of it all. Thank you so much for another very unique and entertaining video!
Thank you for an interesting video, I learnt this method a few yeas ago from Matthew Kelly Pottery, the only way in my opinion to centre these amounts of clay. But of course it only starts with centering doesn't it? hehe There are many perils that can happen even after centering. You say you are not a good thrower!? I have to disagree, I'd say you are a good thrower Mikkel. You do need a lot of strength and energy to throw this amount. Well done indeed.
Thanks for pushing the limits and sharing your process with us. I learn so much from your videos and it's also very enjoyable to watch this!
So nice of you :-)
Fantastic! I would never have thought it was possible to centre several lumps of clay in this way. Thank you for showing us how to do it.
Thanks. The same method can also be used fr much less clay - for example 3 times 2 kg, to easily center 6 kg
Dry nice ..a lot of work that paid off.
Thanks. And yes, lots of hard work :-)
well done it was interesting to see the process thank you

I felt exhausted just by watching! Another great video, thanks for posting.😀😀😀

Thanks. Try more than you think you can. Challenge yourself :-)
