- Hey everyone, today I ramble about my rubbing and general touge car setups. Still not too comfortable talking like this, but I'm learning. Think I might be talking too fast but whateva. Any feedback on these types of vids is greatly appreciated. :)
I kind of want to experiment with Touge commentary, almost like how old cod RUclipsrs would do gameplay commentaries. Idk think it might be kind of cool, I don't even need to talk about car stuff, just anything in general really. Let me know what you think.

Please do a video on how to get into the scene and touge etiquette! It would be super informational and help keep the touge safer. It would definitely boost your audience as well. Great vid!
i second this
100% on the touge etiquette! As drivers that are more experienced and mature, I think it's important to mentor the newcomers and also to lead by good example.
IMO your commentary stuff is really neat, you sound like you know what you are talking about, I don't know if its the case, but listening to you is cool, i would watch more videos with commentary.
Drive safe.
he really doesn't. if you know enough about cars some of the stuff he says is tragically wrong
@@__dm__ elaborate
@@__dm__ well, as I said, I don't know. But nevertheless I like listening to this type of content that he makes. I don't think anyone should think "yeah, this is like 101 touge and car guide, let's learn from this".
Its only entertainment in my eyes. If he knows what he is talking about, then hell yeah you go, but if not, no one should care in my opinion.
But thanks for stating yours, and also; could you elaborate?

I'm a south bay local getting into driving and videos like this are awesome man! Your car is sick and your attitude is awesome knowing now to have fun but keeping things safe. Looking forward to your next togue videos!
Damn bro your vids r really good I love the editing and style btw I think a series where you guys go to car meets and stuff could be really fun too.
Sickk Video!!! Amazing Touge! Whats the Intro song name ? really relaxing for driving, but i couldn't find it
I like the way you are doing your videos, ive been also wanting to get into the touge scene so this vid really helped
Another Griffin video! Huge W
Man you were born for this, amazing video
just discovered your channel, subbed, nice content man 👍🏼✌🏼
such a W video!!! keep up the grind griffen!
Part of dialed suspension is alignment. You can tune out some of the rubbing (you're running a wide-for-size 100 TW and an aggressive offset) by dialing back the caster to something under 6 degrees. Trying to avoid rub by just reducing body roll is kind of a jank approach. You can get these cars set for some serious driving while not detracting from looks with 0 rub. The car as a lot of suspension travel. Best to help your coilovers take advantage of it.
Sick vid bro 🤙🏻
touge etiquette
this video inspired me to hit a road like this that’s like 5 mins away it was sketchy asf in my mustang with stock suspension but it’s 10x more fun than roll racing
Love the videos, but just got one question, where did you buy stickers from? They look really good and I can't find any like them :3

Yes 100% do that!
Good content, stay safe brother.
YES SIR
you should ask your roomates and see what they think is the most important thing to remember to do / keep in mind while running touge
I wish I had more roads like this around me, but since I get snow and stuff the twisty back roads are usually super bumpy since the ice has deteriorated the road.
Also, how do you think the GR Corolla would do on touge? Since I'm planning on getting one eventually, but they are still relatively heavy.
I’d love to have snow where I live
@@daancaris7855 it gets old really fast. the salt on the roads destroys cars, chews up roads, its hard to drive in the snow, and its cold
corolla gr is bound to be a touge monster!! hot hatches own those streets.

hello,
i wanted to ask which camera do you use to record this? it's so clear.
Great idea for the vid
fire content man
Loved it❤
Great video
The rear sway is easy I hear but the front install is insane. Which coilovers did you get, and did you put anything between the tophat and the car so there’s not direct contact? Waiting for my sways before I install my MeisterRs

Replace bushings and all suspension aspects. Tires are a must
Opinion on the fiesta st?
Record vid of you installing your sway bars. It would be helpful. Also, do you double lane? Personally, this is not professional touge racing, this is underground touge, yes there are rules for safety, but in a real raw run, using both lanes is essential for top speed. Single lane will increase the odds of understeering into people on the other side of the lane, but using both lanes could result to crashing into oncoming traffic. There is no such thing as "safety" on the mountain road. The only safety is your awareness and ability to drive well.
Do you heel toe when you hit touge
is the long black antenna removable?
It just screws off. There's dozens of aftermarket stubbies.

body roll being bad is probably the most poorly understood and most destructive myth that gets oft repeated in the amateur car scene. I really hate hearing about it.
softness in suspension is actually a good thing. softness absorbs bumps in the road from turning into a temporary loss in grip which will cause major problems.
so why do you even need a roll bar if softness is a good thing?
you need a roll bar because as the weight transfers laterally, the outside suspension compresses, which in in a well designed suspension, gives you extra camber. the car body also rolls as a result of the imbalance in suspension travel on both sides, which means you actually need that extra camber to counteract the body rolling.
what the chassis engineers for your cars did was they spec up a sway bar such that the camber gain matches the body roll. usually the camber gain is not a lot, but the body roll without a swaybar is extremely large, so you have to add a swaybar to limit the body roll such that you try to maintain the optimal camber.
however, since engineering is always a compromise, some cars don't quite get a good match between body roll and camber gain. this includes old cars like the NA/NB, which didn't really have a mature suspension design. the NC/NDs are quite good even in their stock form. you can even take a photo of an NC or ND cornering--you'll see that the outside wheel sitting up straight from the ground and providing a great flat contact patch instead of a canted one--a sign of proper suspension engineering.
another note: a lot of kids put stiffer suspension (for the same reason, soft suspension is better for grip in a "real" road like a touge road, but softness means the car doesn't respond to steering inputs quickly, so you have to make a tradeoff between more grip or responsiveness), which actually increases roll stiffness. adding a sway bar on top of it often makes the roll stiffness unnecessarily high, which will make the suspension shittier.
let's take it another way--the chassis engineers at mazda have probably been doing chassis/suspension design for decades, and there's probably an army of them. do you really think they're gonna make a car shittier than some kid on the internet?
Yes, obviously mazda engineers know what they are doing, but they engineer a car for mass-market sale. ND miatas are marketed as fun cruisers and lots of the sales go to random non-car enthusiasts that don’t care about speed and cornering.
Obviously im not making the car stiff as possible, like I said in the video, its a balance of suspension geometry, which is why I have a fine-tuned alignment. I get where you’re coming from, but 10 times out of 10 an ND with coils and sways is faster than stock body-roll. I also speak from experience, having driven both :)
> I also speak from experience, having driven both :)
I personally haven't done a perfect A/B test that would satisfy my curiosity but I have at least felt the increased grip of a soft suspension, especially on non-ideal surfaces like autocross and highway 9. I'm the biggest advocate for soft and compliant suspension, especially for non-track use. I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt though.
@@__dm__ I see, thats where the miscommunication is. I was thinking you were talking about soft suspension for good roads, since the road im driving in this video is newly repaved and nearly perfect. I totally agree though, stiff suspension on bumpy roads is awful, and only upsets the car more
"let's take it another way--the chassis engineers at mazda have probably been doing chassis/suspension design for decades, and there's probably an army of them. do you really think they're gonna make a car shittier than some kid on the internet?"
Implying Mazda engineers purpose built it strictly for this. Which is isn't.
Their suspension was designed to grant you the ability to have fun, but it's also tuned for general street. This is after all, a street car. The MX5 is a fantastic car, but don't kid yourself into thinking it's ready for canyon/track off the showroom floor. Capable is one thing. Being actually set up & dialed for it specifically is another.
In stock form, these cars are the former my guy.
You're not wrong about how it is wrong to automatically jump to the stiffest setup possible. But you are wrong in thinking that someone who knows what they're doing, can't dial a setup in that will absolutely make the factory setup feel like dogshit.
Roll bar just makes car handle better and respond faster. It may help with sluggishness when turning. Softeness only needed for coils/springs. And even then I believe stock suspension have too much body roll. You need to make suspention a little harder ( but not too hard). But that is just my opinion.
I hate Florida
