Had a 1989 240 GLT Auto estate B230E engine from 2009 to 2018. 7 years as my only car. Bought at 159,410 miles and sold with 234,000 miles. Pretty much trouble free and always passed the MOT. Had to have the passenger outrigger welded twice and drivers side once. Gearbox tail output replaced and prop and gearbox support and mounting as making a loud banging/vibration. Only recovery due to loud banging noise from transmission tunnel. Heater fan died 2 years before selling and never felt brave enough to dismantle dash and replace. Got a bit of heat from 30mph. Looked at a 1996 Volvo 940 LPT auto estate in 2016 with 10 months MOT and £250. Viewed it, loved the quietness of the 940 and split folding rear seats and it drove well with 174,000 miles. Bought it and still have it as my works van. Got the AC working and fitted full leather, Last summer rebuilt the front suspension. Been very reliable and easy to self service and repair. A few years back had a slight patch on offside jacking point welded. Cost £60 with the MOT. Like driving it. On 210,500 miles. Every 2 years underseal it. Will do again this summer.
Oh the joys of our wonderful climate! I am terrified of welding so admire anyone who can! Great progress on this lovely old girl! And Happy New Year to you too!
Keep the Great work going! Those klokkerholm panels are a b itc h to match up. Almost always have to rework them. Buy some buzzweld passive 8 works a treat if you are bare metalling and leaving outside for abit- just give the bare metal a quick coat.
Nice to see a Volvo being worked on, albeit a 244 instead of a 122. That amount of rust is discouraging though. Kudoos to the chap who's willing to do a proper repair. I'd be looking for a doner 244 body to transfer good mechanicals into. Too much rust for me! Good luck though.
It will be saved. This car is very rare in the uk a new shell would take years to find and would be the same condition. So Jackman will continue to save this one. Thanks for watching 👍
May I ask where you are sourcing the replacement Volvo 240 panels from? I'm in need of the semi-circle spare wheel boot pressings for a restoration project currently underway, thanks.

Haha yeah it needs some loved but it’s rare enough to deserve the time and money. Happy new year 👍

Hard enough to tackle in a proper workshop: doing it on the driveway takes a hero (or, perhaps, a maniac). Happy New Year.

Ah, look at the British summer causing problems. This video took months to film due to it 😂
Yeah got to love a British summer. But it’s coming together 👍

I've got a '77, if you need any ref pics.
That’s great thank you for the offer 👍
Love your ambition, but please buy a new decent car cover. ‘A stitch in time…’ 👍
I dont know If that year modell of your Volvo had problems with The steel in The sheets when they build it. I dont remember witch year it was
I'm aware of that assertion, I would like to see more verified data before making a firm decision either way.
I do think this was around the year of poor steel hence how rare these cars are now.
How many hours have you spent on the Rustberg so far Jackman? Alan
I would say between 30-40 hours
