    What are your thoughts on Le'Veon Bell's decision not to return to the Steelers?

    • @ozarked2363
      @ozarked2363 6 лет назад +3

      I think he'll get a very nice contract, but it won't be with a top tier team. They aren't going to have the cap space to pay him what he wants and many already have RB's almost as good. Teams like the Saints, Rams, and Chiefs are not going to be interested. He's going to end up with a team that's rebuilding, behind a below average O line, with an average or below QB. He'll take more of a beating than he would have with the Steelers and it's costing him $14.5 million. He better be staying very far away from any illegal substances in the meantime.

    They need to change the CBA for the running back position specifically. The teams use the wear and tear of the RB position against the player. Rookie running backs should only be able to be signed for three years and then they can be free agent or start being franchise tagged, so they are making bigger money earlier since they think their careers end earlier.

Or the fact he has been injury prone for 2 post season runs. Or the fact he skipped the team walk thru last year the day before a playoff game. Everyone always say that the Steelers should just pay him whatever he asked for but never mentions that he has only given them 1 full season. I hope one day Greg Jennings owns a team that way whenever a player demands a high dollar amount he can just give it to them

      So skipping a team walk threw the day before a playoff game vs a team that already whooped you once shouldnt be put into consideration? Is the 5 year 60+ million with 17 million garenteed in the first year a slap in the face? Bell is a big time talent but the narrative that he is this saint of a running back who's never had any issues and deserves every penny he asked for in the Steelers are some greedy football team is a false narrative that is not the actual situation Bell deserves to get paid but the Steelers shouldn't be demonized for not giving him the contract he wanted he can get it elsewhere

Being a member of one of the best sports franchises in the world apparently has no value to Le'Veon. Its not always just about the money. My prediction is that he will have another major injury for the next team he plays for due to the year of downtime he took off from the game. And that's not schadenfreude, that's injury prone. This is a business and players are realizing their worth more so now compared to years and years ago. If you look back, to 1980 John Riggins wanted to renegotiate his 300k contract with Washington, they didn't agree on terms so he sat out that year. Riggins came back the next yr, led the team to two superbowls and also led the league in rushing as the oldest back in the league...

    Everyone is forgetting one key factor. Le'veon bell has not played a lick of football since last season and I think what he is looking at is the fact that two people who were holding out for a better contract or opportunity are now out with injuries for the rest of the season. He will get a big contract because you have desperate teams out there that are looking for a combo like what Mahomies/kareem and Goff/gurley and brees/karmar have to solidify their offense and help carry them over the top. It isn't brain surgery. All you have to do is wait and see and once you get your contract with your new team go out there and in off season and training camp, get your body right. Dez came back to aggressive and now he is out and has to comeback from an Achilles tear that can possibly cause him to retire. I commend Le'veon bell for looking at the situation and realizing that he wasn't in football shape and shouldn't appease to anyone's opinions as to what he should do but rather take his time, get his self together and comeback next season and give his new team 110% of himself. 15 million is a lot but sometimes it's about using command sense and not looking at the paper. He has made enough. Smart financial decisions should keep most of these athletes from going broke.

    1:29 Yeah, LeVeon's a real trailblazer... He GUARANTEED that no Steeler currently in contract talks with management will EVER think that it's a good idea to hold out... I thought when the Steelers traded Franco Harris to the Seahawks after his contract fiasco; that no Steeler would ever be dumb enough to roll the dice with the Steelers again, but I was wrong.... Bell is insane if he thinks any team with a decent O-line is gonna pay big money for that headache... If any line is that talented, they'll make any RB look good, so why should they pay for him? And if an O-line isn't good, his career won't be any longer...

    The play for LeVeon should always have been, I play on the tag this year, and then under no circumstances do I go back to Pittsburgh. I leave Pittsburgh.
    Instead, he sacrificed 14 million dollars for the possible long term deal he may receive from a really bad team, and allowed other teams to notice that he was replaced in Pittsburgh, which allows doubt to creep into their minds as to whether he is a system running back or not. They moved along without him almost seemlessly. Because of definite collusion, there is no way a team is going to give him what he is asking for, lest their own players who may be tagged might try the same thing to get rewarded. He put himself on an island.

      NFL players, (both former and presently playing) are like females. They are whimsical and change their opinions at the drop of a hat. LeVeon Bell has shown himself to be unreliable off the field, which puts himself in jeopardy on the field. IN WHAT WORLD DO YOU GIVE THAT MAN A MAX MONEY CONTRACT? He already has 2 failed tests which means the third one results in a year long suspension, and he had a capable backup on the team. I'm waiting for a reason.

    The argument based on less risk if he doesn't report and play out season is irrelevant because it ignores the same possibility of injury next season. After signing with a new team for the money that he is looking for next offseason he could very well get a season ending injury week 1 2019.

    I think the only thing that went wrong with the Bell/Steelers situation was the communication. If they would of had a private but open dialogue with each other no one would be angry about this. Bell was so criptic in his communication with his teammates and front office. And the Steelers let dirty laundry out. And now that's it's over why keep talking about it ?

    they fumbled the Kaepernick comparisons. they must have been triggered. saying Kaepernick's name doesn't mean they're making it about race. and just because it's not identical doesn't mean it doesn't have one thing in common.
    this is it: in 2018... despite the "overpaid greedy athlete national felon league" narrative.... this young man chose principle over money. and most people are honest enough to admit that they don't have the grit to turn down millions of dollars in ANY circumstance. and clearly the stance they took will improve the lives of other people. it's that simple.
