'We need help': Father speaks out after losing 3 sons to violence in DC

- The father of 14-year-old Avion Evans, who was shot and killed at the Brookland Metro station last week, is pleading for city leaders to take action, saying he's lost two other sons to violence on the streets of the D.C.

How sad to be that young and have his life taken away. My heart goes out to the family.
I am 57 and i have 6 kids, 3 boys and 3 girls all grown now and i could not imagine losing 3 of my kids to violence. But what i am not going to do is totally blame this man for what happened to his kids because i know for me one of the main reason my kids didn't get into a lot of mischief was because we kept them busy with activities such as sports, and that was really expensive with six kids and i know everyone doesn't have the money to do what we did. At the end of the day If the father and mother are not on the same page when it comes to raising these kids, this could be the outcome for a lot of our kids.
At what point wasn’t it a good idea to leave that area.

Praying for this family and hoping they will get the help they so desperately need. I CAN'T imagine the level of pain they are suffering.

Why is he to blame for the violence? As he said, his 15 year-old got into a fight. That doesn't mean he should have been killed. His older son was shot going to work, and his younger son, who just passed, was also shot. Both while minding their business. How is he responsible for the people who committed the crimes?

It doesn't seem like this father is to blame for the violence inflicted, but there family has experienced an unconscionable amount of loss in less than a decade. Young lives, at that.
Parents need to get back to raising their kids. I'm not saying this father hasn't been doing that. He seems involved. I'm talking about the people who's kids are committing these crimes. Where are their parents? Who is responsible for them? My son is 6. Should the day ever come that he's turned to a life of crime and amoral acts, please understand, I'm dead. Because, not while I breathe, would I sit back and watch him to slip through the cracks.
I'm 36. I'm young, but old enough to remember we used to love one another. Parents used to raise their kids to be decent people! Where are the parents?!

I'm going to be honest if he lost three sons to three different violent incidents and they all died from separate incidents he is the problem he's not raising his kids everything is not the government's fault I can see one kid One Bad Apple but all three no. But it is unfortunate and my condolences to him nonetheless.

How do you continue to live in a violent area where you are losing your children. I would have sold everything including my body if it meant getting out of there. There are victim services groups that will help you move but for some reason this family didn’t want to go.
I tell everyone I will live in a shack in Beverly Hills before I live in mansion in a community full of men with no resources or respect for their people.

One son was harmed having a verbal altercation with someone else...That is an in HOME issue first! Teach them self-control...Awareness...How to walk away not let their ego led them to this outcome. No government agency can guide your child the way you are supposed to, no one is going to set the curfews, make sure the friends are good and set boundaries better than the parent!! I am sad and so disappointed in this whole country I know people too that have been hurt in shootings and gun violence here where I live, and words aren't stopping people from hurting others, and we all see and listen to the news it's in this country everywhere has heard about it and we don't need more angry people with guns at any age. sorry for your family and friends!!!! That Father should Be Able to Sue The City on Behalf of his Lost Sons. For a Father to have Lost 3 Sons in the SAME city shows the city doesn't have Control of its Crime. GRANTED They Could be Victims of thier Own accord but Damn. Once a Parent/Grandparent Loses 3 or more siblings to Violence they AUTOMATICALLY should Get a Million From the City.
