Enjoyed the live stream. I served with VFA 195 Dambusters in the early 1980's as an airframes trouble shooter/ final checker. Best years of my life. Miss those days. Thanks for the video Alex.
Thank you Alex for this video series. My son is only 12 but he has told me he’s going to the Naval Academy to be a Navy pilot. I love that his has big dreams. Subscribed!
Thanks! This video gave probably the most info that may help me be a fighter pilot one day. I was able to take some notes on some things you said in the video and it will probably help a lot. Go navy!
My uncle flew for one of the major airlines and then FedEx after retiring from the Air Force, and my cousin-in-law who used to be stationed in Japan went the FedEx route after retirement. Not sure if this is only with the Air Force, and not Navy, but did you ever think about becoming a Hurricane Hunter and flying through hurricanes? I knew someone who was in the Air Force a while back who now does that as their full time job!
Hi Alex Thank you so much for making the videos on how to become a fighter pilot. It is very informational and I will definitely share it with my students this upcoming school year. One suggestion for you is to add graphical picture or data into your videos. It will make it more engaging. Good luck on Dental School and study hard!😉
Alex don't forget to turn your English auto generated captions on please for the deaf and hard of hearing. I'm all good with my cochlear but I know some viewers need captions ✌.
Awesome videos Alex. Got a question that I hope you get the opportunity to answer. As a private pilot flying Cessna 172’s my flying is limited to about 60 hours a year due to the cost. I would fly everyday if I could afford it. Were there ever times when you dreaded having to fly for whatever reason, or did it never get old and every time you couldn’t wait to get up in the air?
There were definitely days that I didn’t want to fly. Whether it be fatigue, bad weather, boring mission, long day, or a combination, the job can be grueling at times. The military has a way of taking the fun out of some very cool things and aviation is no exception. That being said the days were few and far between and I cherished my time in the super hornet.
May I ask Is there a reason why you retired as a fighter jet pilot so early? Isn't it in the forces best interest to keep you active as such after so much time invested in you, or anyone in your position for that matter? Thank you! Great vids
IMO you are going to be a super dentist a cut above the rest. , , I was an instructor in the OR (surgery) and we had a fourth-year medical student return from being a fighter pilot because he was medically grounded. Devastated, he returned to medical school, then surgical residency. I have to tell you I never saw any surgeon before or since as focused as this guy. He would be at the operating room table with surgeons with decades of experience, and he had more confidence than the surgeons themselves. He would look into the incision and I swear he was seeing things nobody else could pick out. Simply a phenom. We had a lot of talks and I attributed his raging success to his fighter pilot training and focus. I know it was his second choice as a career path the world got lucky having this guy as a surgeon. , , I watched your focus on some of your videos, especially the shit hot break, and I can promise you, you are going to be the best dentist in the world, and the world is going to be lucky to have you. 🫡
@@AlexBowman_Ventures hi I was wondering how did you get to flying for the navy like what school subjects where most focused on and where did you go for trining and stuff
Flying in general will make you better at everything in life especially flying fighters because it involves so much multi tasking and so much in depth thinking on the fly. You have to worry about flying AND completing your mission. That really sucks tho. The only reason I'm not an F16 pilot is because I have very bad astigmatism worse then they allow waivers for. I started the process then was told I couldn't fly fighters but could get a waiver to fly bombers said forget it that's boring went back to being an engineer.
Hi Alex. I am an Italian guy who is 16 years old. I want to become a fighter pilot in Italy . I have a simulator (Digital Combat Simulator) which is a military simulator where you can pilot some planes like the A-10C the F/A-18C lot20 and some other aircraft but i'll go to the point of the argument. I use the F/A-18C in this Simulator and i use the NATOPS F/18A/B/C/D and NATOPS CV manuals to achieve the best immersive experience that an F18 pilot has when flight, obviously it is impossible to be 100% realistic. (not even at 80% but details). I want to talk about the CASE I procedure. I've searched everywhere for month and month about the turn that you do once you have finished the holding stack and you're going to align yourself at 800ft and 350kts on the right of the aircraft carrier but i never found anything that explains it. So what i know about the CASE I is: when i am at least 50Nm from the carrier i'll communicate my intention (i won't say all communications that a pilot and ATC do because this comment will become too long) than when i'm 10Nm i'll call the "see you at 10" and i have to be at 2000ft (obviously if i am the first who has approached the carrier) at, correct me if i am wrong, max conserve speed when enter in the holding stack pattern waiting for the "charlie signal" and start the max 5nm left hand pattern. When i receive "your signal is charlie" and i am in the 2nd zone of the pattern (let's assume that the carrier brc is 360) i have to calculate the opposite of the brc plus 30° so 180+30=210° (i am not teaching you the math obviously ahahah) tell me if i'm wrong as always. How i have to do this turn, which parameters? I have to finish it 3 miles behind the carrier aligned with the brc with hook down (hook bypass on carrier anti-skid off and stuff like these) and a little on the right in order to see if the deck is clear. I have to intercept a DME arc? I have to be at a certain airspeed and AOB? If you answer me i'll be really grateful :) Have a great day Alex!
Awesome stream - Keep em coming! Magic carpet or Mode 1 recovery and does the Super Hornet have a civilian ILS capability unlike the legacy Hornet? Thanks in advance
It’s kinda interesting that you want to stop being a fighter pilot after 11 years going back to normal civilian life. I am sure many people would like to be in you position because they are tired of civilian lives after 11 years of working at a desk job. Not questioning your decision or anything. Just difference perspectives.
jasonsong86 Good questions and thoughts. I've watched a lot of vids and docus and every pilot has a different take on their military career versus civilian. I happened to be listening to this video while reading some of the comments.. I think a lot of good stuff that you are asking about can be found if you time shift to about 12:30. He discusses his priorities. Something I learned was that a 12 hour day, may consist of just 1 to 1.5 hours in the aircraft while a lot of other things have to be attended to before and after a flight. I hope that helps:).
Good to see you this morning Alex. Have a great week 🌊🇦🇺🤙💛. If you get back to Australia my homes your home #bellsbeachaustralia #iwillbeyourdentalnurseanyday🥰
It's odd that he explains all of that in the video. I've noticed that a lot of people ask questions that Alex addressed in the video. Maybe rewatching the video will answer a lot of these questions.

7:30 yeah, I never understood that. Why does the military spend over millions of dollars training people to be a pilot. And as that pilot ranks up through the years the less flying your going to do. What’s up with that.

I am a person who loves fighter planes and is very expert in them and my dream is to be a fighter pilot. I have a navy like you.... ❤🌷
Question: Would a aircraft carrier allow an emergency [barricade] landing of a Eurofighter or F16? Or would the pilot have to eject?

Hiya Alex good luck on future projects coming from Dulwich London England(✌peace✌)

Yes, we train to this a lot. Instead of dogfighting we call it BFM, basic fighter maneuvers.
Can be navy pilot if I am from other countries

thats quite a transition fighter pilot to dentist lol. Guess you never know who is drilling your teeth:)
At least we know he is focused and confident with no room for error.
