- Project ECHO (Extension for Community Health Care Outcomes) is a transformative model of medical education and health care delivery that expands treatment capacity in rural and medically underserved areas. Through the use of teleconferencing technology, the ECHO model empowers academic medical centers to share specialized knowledge with local clinicians, bringing evidence-based medicine to everyday medical practice and dramatically increasing existing capacity to treat chronic conditions.
Created by Dr. Sanjeev Arora, a liver disease specialist and social entrepreneur at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, Project ECHO is a platform for lifelong learning, knowledge-sharing, and health mentoring.
