No government wants to help the people. MPs salary should be tied to yearly polls in their region including expenses and bonuses. Suddenly everyone’s living standards would improve because the MPs salary would be at risk and that’s what matters most

I agree that any government needs a narrative/vision for the country. That’s why I think a wealth tax on the top 1-5% could have avoided the removal of the winter fuel payments and maybe employer NICs. By not doing so it looks like the least well off are shouldering this fiscal black hole.
