    To the tinkaton thing: Squakabilly is safe because it's not steel type. Tinkaton only has this dislike for steel types due to them bullying the first evolution.

    • @rjs4176

      Exactly.
      They're much smaller, less desirable prey and have no metal of which to speak of.

    • @Kahadi
      @Kahadi Год назад +31

      Not quite. It's not Steel types that bully Tinkatink, it's Pokemon that eat metal.
      However, it is true that Tinkaton leaves Squakabilly alone because they aren't Steel types while they hunt Corviknight because they are. That's because, however, they take scrap metal for their hammers and nests, for Tinkatink to use to make and replace their own hammers. Corviknight's feathers are partly made of steel, thus it's typing, making it good prey for Tinkaton.
      Interestingly, the only Pokemon I can find that eat metal are Aron and Meltan, neither of which are found in Paldea. Makes me wonder what Pokemon keeps stealing Tinkatink hammers...

    Not only is Tyme related to Ryme, Tyme is also the former Montenevera Gym leader! In the academy ace tournament, she specializes in Rock-types, which implies that the Montenevera Gym used to be a Rock-type Gym.
    A Team Star detail that I loved is how each Team Star squad boss uses Pokéballs that match their personalities! Giacomo uses Timer Balls because he's a DJ and timing is key, Ortega uses Luxury Balls because he's rich, Eri uses Heal Balls because she cares about protection, Atticus uses Repeat Balls because he's stuck in the past, and Mela uses Quick Balls because she's impatient and short-tempered.

    • @Kahadi
      @Kahadi Год назад +9

      The type matchup doesn't matter, but the typing itself does. Tinkaton steals metal from everywhere, both for the line's nests and their hammers. And Corviknight's feathers are partly made of steel, making it a Steel type. Thus Tinkaton hunts Corviknight for their feathers.

    There’s also a potential hint towards Generation 10 at the start of the game where in your house, you can see a picture that mentions that “It’s depicts a beautiful town in a different region” with the image looking like it could come from either Italy or Greece.

      Now, there are 2 towns clearly styled after 2 real life countries: Cascaffara is clearly Egypt inspired, while Artazon, with all its flowers, art and the windmill is clearly inspired by the Netherlands.
      If you go explore the academy, there is a statue resembling Albert Einstein, which also points to Germany.

    Tinkaton hunts Corviknight because they take any metal they can find, and Tinkatuff's dex entry says it uses the scrap metal for their nests, while all 3 use it for their hammers, and Corviknight's feathers are partly made of steel. So they hunt Corviknight to take their feathers, using the metal for nests and hammers.

    I don't know if this is going to sound really dumb or not, but ...do you remember the very first cave "Inlet Grotto" at the beginning of the game, where you followed Koraidon/Miraidon?
    if you go up to the very top exit and run a little bit to the left, you can find a weird round patch of yellow flowers - which might be a reference to Undertale??? this might sound like a big stretch, but:
    1. before you find the legendary, you fall (a reference to the fallen child).
    2. in the cave you can see Houndoom, who watches you when you enter the cave (also could be a reference to Flowey, who watches you throughout the game).
    3. some of the columns in the cave represent the ruins where Toriel was "hiding".
    4. the crystals in the cave may also be a reference to the location in Undertale - Waterfalls?
    5. after you get out of the cave, you can find that flower patch. (I haven't seen a similar flower patch anywhere in the game yet, so I thought it looked a little weird. and yes, the references are scattered, but knowing that Toby worked on some music for the Scarlet/Violet and Undertale was pretty popular game, they might have left such small illusive references).

You start in the south of Spain, and while the starting area of Cabo Poco is based on Cadiz, that's not very far from Gibraltar, which is a British territory, and there's a lot of British expats in the Costa del Sol region of southern Spain as well. I thought it was a cool nod!
    EDIT: I know Team Star's bases are arranged in a way that they form the Cassiopeia constellation if you draw a line between them (making the code name of the character intentional), and I know each of the bases are named after one of the five stars that form the constellation, but that doesn't make your assumption wrong, tbh! I mean the placement of Navi in a forest specifically could make that a double reference, to Zelda and to the constellation, in different ways.

    Fun fact, Tyranitar is NOT acttually a reference to Godzilla. You can tell this by looking at the number of rows of the spines on their back and their locations. It is actually a reference to another monster from a different series (a well know series owned by a different company, but, co-created by the same people basically, and both companies actually have a close working relationship), that monster had the exact same number of rows of spines and locations. The monster is a classic monster from the Ultraman series (told you its a well known series), and it is the monster, Bemular. Besides the spikes, another way that you can tell Tyranitar is more of a reference to Bemular (the original one, not the one that came out in the Ultraman manga back in 2011), is the number of fingers. Tyranitar has three fingers, Godzilla has four, Bemular has three.
    That said, as it has been largely known, all Pokemon have references and inspirations from multiple sources. Including Tyranitar, who most likely does take some inspiration from Godzilla, but, is more of a reference to Bemular.
    Also, fun fact, Groudon in the Anime uses Godzilla's roar.
    But, yeah, that is that.
