Been into fish and aquariums my whole life, but just built a 5000 gallon Koi pond on my property. It doesn’t have all the refinement and vegetation set up yet.

Tiki falls is awesome! The Pentair pump is great. That’s what I have for my pool. My ponds not big enough for at size pump otherwise I’d use one. On another subject. I researched a little and found white lighting at night will also produce algae. They say green is best so I changed mine. Still waiting on the sunshade I ordered a month ago to come in. My water is crystal clear but I still get too much algae on my rocks and I don’t like the looks of it. Another great video Mel 🤙🏻🤙🏻 ❤️🐠🐟
Yeah algae is a gift and a curse when it comes to ponds!🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽 microbe lift algaway 5.4 is awesome for algae 🤙🏽💯💯
@@HaYNFishKeeper yes their products are the best I’m convinced. I still have another brand of algae destroyer I’m finishing up with first. I’m very careful putting the right amount in as it depletes the oxygen. Too much kills the fish as you’re aware. I found that out the hard way my very first year with my little pond. I hate having to treat with chemicals. Putting in the right amount doesn’t seem to do anything honestly. I also use their barley straw extract with peat as well. As I said the water couldn’t be any clearer it’s just the build up on my rocks and pebbles . Really hoping the sunshade helps. There are pretty many marginal and floating plants and it’s honestly shaded a bit as well. I can see yours is wide open to the sun. I have lots of big trees in my yard. Still there are areas that get a lot of afternoon sun. I have to tell you my friend I think you’re simply awesome. You ALWAYS reply to my comments. I’ve learned a lot from you. Wish I had watched your channel long before I built my pond. I think the first video I watched was Tiki falls 1 and the filter set up. Using the fabric batting as filter media. Honestly I still use that. It’s cheap and I simply wring it out over my plants around the pond. BTW I’m making 2 sieve filters that will be pre filters to my 2 bio falls. Really simple and easy to make. Simply trying to cut down on maintence . With my fish load it simply takes too much cleaning. I certainly get rid of any fish though. I really think this will be easy and not expensive at all. If I had a channel I’d love to show the build. I’m actually working on starting a channel for my garage shop. Metal AND wood. Pretty kool shop actually. Also I just returned from PA for a filming with Modern Machine Shop RUclips channel. I started my machine shop 47 years ago and have since sold it to my sons. Modern Machine Shop has been around for like forever . This was a great honor. Anxious to see how it turns out. Check one of them out when you get a chance. Really very interesting stuff.

Brotha Mel, i just tore down my waterfall. It was full of muck and causing my nitrite to rise. Maybe on yours put the liner down, then concrete with some large stones. I had gravel it got to mucky taro roots built up too much it was a mess. Just some ideas i wanted to share.

Yeah it is unusual to have such an aggressive Geo it's my understanding of the red-headed Tapajo they can be on the aggressive side. I have a really nice looking geophagus brasiliensis but he's a complete a-hole very aggressive. So there are exceptions
