This was my very first show. Hooked from the first note. Bobby on fire all night long. Jerry just ripping on Deal, best Althea I ever saw. Went to many many shows but this was the made me a Dead Head for life. Looks like Rain amazing
First show I went to. 15 years old and fucking hooked!! The two "cool" waitresses at my job (and one who was a drag) brought me. The weekend before Maiden played, mass mayhem cars burnt in the lot , so the security was nuts even for Jersey. Ended up not getting tickets so they wanted to leave. I wanted to stay but they weren't having it( they were friends with my older brother and didn't want him to flip). Long story short the fences came down and they just opened the doors, EVERYONE got in! But I was at a fucking diner by the time they played me and my uncle. Saw 200 shows after and only got shutout again once ( the rainforest benefit at MSG which I didn't try to get into really . Tinker and Tracy you still owe me my first show, and I'm going to hold you to it!
Listen to Looks like Rain watching the Rain outside...."like street cats making love...and you guessed from their crying you were listen to a fight." perfect song for the day!!!!
Also… Jerry’s fingers are completely black in that picture. I remember Steve saying he had to change his strings everyday from all the nicotine I guess. It’s a real working guitarist hand.
@@scottwolfe2400 nah I've read an interview I think with McNally about this. Garcia talks about it. He changed his strings for every show so they would be completely fresh and of course wouldn't break with all the intense picking.
@@scottwolfe2400 he also practiced at least 8 hours a day. He rarely rested. The guy just never stopped. But he was smart enough to let there be recordings and to not waste a single day without being productive just in case he didn't live long.
It's funny how often Big Steve has a slightly different version of things like this than other people. Though obviously nobody changed more strings for Garcia than he did, so if anyone would know....
