This series is amazing. At 2:46 - you can see that the red market that Jason wrote with on the cue card was running out of ink, so he had to switch it for a blue one. There's even a few squiggles on the sides. I love these kids!
The episode that started the legacy of Adult Swim. This was the very first program that aired at 10 or 11 P.M.(I'm honestly drawing a blank on the time but I THINK it was at 11 P.M.) on Sunday, September 2nd, 2001 on the very first Adult Swim block.
@ViVaLaRoB1011 Actually,FG does often mention historical/literary figures. Benjamin Disrali comes to mind there, albiet he's only there to illustrate that folks don't know who he is. InThe simpsons they have done it for ever and a day(Xavier Nougat,an ice cream flavor that is a play on xavier COUGAT,a big band leader from the 1940s),as well as a ton of Broadway style plays and twisted versions of some of history's more prominent events. They're all good shows,in their own right.
@powcat21 HIlariuos animation gaffe1 I have seriously seen this ep at least 20 times and have a twisted mind. I can't BELIEVE I never noticed that. Maybe they knew though because ther is that statement after he references "the fertile Delta",stating that ,"..That one's for the ladies,Brendon.." The show was brilliant, and this episode must have won some sort of awards..it is rife with goodies and the benchmark for when the show seriously hit its stride.
@ViVaLaRoB1011 It is sad if you laughed at Spaceballs.lol. Yeah Fam Guy and The Simpsons do refernce various historical/literary figures, though I don't think to the depth of an opera based on a particular charater. Those show do have snippets of such things(A"Planet of the Apes" Broadway show in which there's a song,"Dr. Zaius"sung to the tune of Falco's "Amedeus",comes immediately to mind). But yes, this show did not get its desrerved props. From songs to stories,it's all good! Spaceballs..NO!
@jdielentheis I'm pretty sure he meant he literally reenacted the rock opera. In which case, do you have any idea how much time and effort would have to go into that?!
@chosentonessournotes Depends on what he did... I mean if he just played the actual video for a project he was supposed to do himself... if i was that teacher i'd be like.... you're fucking lazy? This is great, but Brendon Small gets an A, not you.
This show is absolutely brilliant.
though it may be insignificant i love the french vanilla coffee conversation at 6:47 , it sounds like brendan and mcguirk are really best friends lmao
Yea their relationship is great
I love how Brendon and McGuirk play off each others' characters... Coach is like the deadbeat dad Brendon never had.
I love this show even today. I’m in my 30’s.
I’m barely 20 and I’m sad I missed out on this show
To think that this show was almost cancelled after the first five episodes, it just makes me want to cry.
But it wasn't, so yay! :D
This is by far my favorite episode of Home Movies, can't go wrong with a rock opera based on Franz Kafka's Metamorphasis! SO clever.
The music is unironically good
@@doctorm3518 yeah it was niceee
First episode of the show I ever watched.

"Ow, my spine!"
Well the rock opera is based off of Kafka, not just The Metamorphosis. Scenes from the book are used because it's his most famous story.
Love the coffee discussion :P
He is Franz Kafka, Franz Kafka!
Be careful if you get him pissed.
He'll strike you with metaphor fists!
ROFL!
brendon small made this show and now makes metalocalypse, and writes most of the music for both as well. so yep, youre right.
This.... was da beginning of Adult Swim.
The first episode of any show aired on 9-2-2001, the day Adult Swim came to life.

The rock opera sounds a little like Stairway to Heaven :S
You were too big.
Excuse me?
I mean too drunk.
That's right.
Franz Kafka Released In 1998.
D'Wayne looks like Joey Ramone.
