    Wow! Time certainly fly. I was 12yrs old. I will always remember that era.😔 It was sad because my brother and I had close Italian friends , so close that we had dinner at each other's house and had sleep overs as well. This played tricks on my mind , I was thinking that our friends were really hating us behind our backs. As a kid it really messed me up. Thank God for my parents, they really got me out of that mindset. I have grown and learned that one individual doesn't represent a whole race of people. That's also how I raise my children, go off of the way a person treats you as an personally as an individual , not by what another person has done that just happened to be the same race. If we all lived by that I believe that we would be better as the human race.

    There were 2,605 murders in NYC in 1990. I lived in Brooklyn in the 1990s. One of those murders was my friend's Jewish mother, who was shot and killed in an attempted robbery of a grocery store on Flatbush. The murderers were two black males in their early 20s. Four years later a Russian Jewish friend and classmate of mine was stabbed and killed by four black youths in Midwood, in broad daylight. There was almost certainly at least some racial motives in the murders, yet no marches took place and each of these murders just got a single small writeup in the Post. Mass media is a bunch of vultures that prey on what's trending in politics, rile up communities and create a false sense of victimhood and blamelessness. Was it completely safe and pleasant for a black teen to walk around Bensonhurst in 1990? No, it was not. Was it completely safe and pleasant for a white teen or a Jewish woman (chinese people, arabs, indians, etc.) to walk around a black neighborhood in Brooklyn in 1990? No, it was not. Racism is wrong, period. ANY race can be racist towards another race. Persuading people otherwise is both morally wrong and dangerous.

      Ironically this is pretty racist. Why does the fact that they marched bother you? You could’ve planned marches for your lost ones just like they did, but instead you did nothing and became envious. Then maybe the media would’ve paid more attention. Black learned a long time ago you have to make people pay attention, why haven’t you? You clicked on a video about a certain event and felt the need to make it about you and how black people can commit murder too. Newsflash any human can, but that’s not the point of this video. Don’t use someone else’s situation to bring up something that takes away from this innocent kids story. Do better.

Many Turkish,Albanian, Syrian even go as far as to pretend to be Italian and Catholic. So the remaining Italians in area are much more tolerating of them because they see them as groups that respect them and see them as superior. Blacks on the other hand may be sprinkled out but the sentiment towards them is still there. This area Bensonhurst/Bath Beach is not the place to be if your black still true now. Generally and collectively Black people nor Mexicans , are socialized to believe themselves superior to each other or any other ethnicity. It’s all love . I have many Mexican friends and never felt unsafe in any Mexican space because of my skin color . There might be individuals who internalized racism but generally the collective never had a system that peddled supremacy. Some white people believe the lies of racism and there might even be some POCs that Bro to but generally if you’re white or any other ethnic group and you’re not looking for trouble you will have no issues walking in Bedstuy or any other Black neighborhood- in much poorer neighborhoods like some areas of the Bronx , where there’s more social problem brought on by poverty, fair game that you might get robbed or killed regardless of your skin color for dumb shit . In Cali there was tension between Korean and Black community after the Rodney King riots but that’s also mostly gone . You might find some ignorant Black people but collectors there was no systemic teachings of Black superiority or supremacy so we don’t think of others less deserving than us . Whereas there was whole systems where schools taught it, churches preached it government peddled it for centuries so some white people struggle to see others as an equal human that is no different and equally deserving as same rights and freedoms as them and can celebrate the differences and commonalities of humanity but relate that we’re one.

      People nowadays weren't in World War I nor World War II, it doesn't mean u don't grasp the horrors. History sheds light regardless of age.

    The title of this video is dumb as hell. Yusuf Hawkins: 30 years later. Almost no one would ever no about this video because of the title.

    Lets just jump right in it: #1 Hawkins wasn't killed cause he was black, He was going to hangout with the neighborhood Skeezer and her ex boyfriend found out and in a jealous rage he snapped #2 There was not 1 but 3 black kids in the Fama/Mondello group that went to confront Hawkins And they were literally told to beat it, by cops. This was NEVER about race, this was over a girl. Hawkins being black was just a mere detail, not the reason.

      monte capultti That’s false Yusuf was going to buy a used car and mistaken for someone else. As far as race goes, there are dozens of racial incidents that took place in Bensonhurst over the decades. I know some friends who got attacked on Bay Parkway after leaving the movies. The Marlboro Projects another flash point between blacks and Italians FOR DECADES.

    Hot97 started some of the biggest “Stop Snitchin” campaigns ever produced over 20 years ago this month. Coincidence? Nah. #RIPowerYusuf

      That’s a lie. How can there be a stop snitchin campaign when Lisa Evers, a crime news reporter, came on every Sunday with “street soldiers”

    • @idisagree5897
      @idisagree5897 4 года назад +1

      AboveTheClout a lie? It is not a lie, it’s a bonafide FACT. My ears tell me stories but my eyes never lie. That’s like saying drugs being dropped in inner city neighborhoods couldn’t be true because cops via the gov had “Just Say No” & a DARE program. Come on.
