This is not an easy song to reproduce live given it was done in a studio by virtuoso players, so I will give credit where it is due... Excellent job guys!
DAN man since 1972... 8th grade REELIN IN THE YEARS. My Dad, trying to be hip w us would say well are you ? We'd say are we what? Are you Reelin in the years?? Great times the 70s...
I'm pretty much speechless Absolutely unbelievable. I never thought anyone or any group could possibly cover Steely Dan "successfully". You all have done that and it's totally astonishing. One of those jaw dropping moments, but in the most positive way. The playing, the music, and the vocals. You have captured lightning in a bottle. All of you must be outstanding musicians. Oh, and, Thank you. For preserving and respecting the original. I am not sure I could tell the difference by just listening to you and Steely Dan side by side live, which was which.
WOW!!! So cool to hear a rare Steely Dan tune played live and done SO well. Keep 'em coming guys. Love it. Come to Rochester NY pleeeeze. I'll be in the front row.
these guys are so freaking awesome at recreating steely dan songs. and steely dan is known as being an extremely rigorous band in the fact that they wanted every part of every song to be perfect. fagen and becker are legends. the amount of effort and time they put into every song and album goes unmatched by any band since them. period. im a HUGE Rush fan and i absolutely love Neil Peart (RIP) as well as Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson and i have a good idea as to how much effort they put into their songs (ive probably listened to more Rush than Steely Dan), and after watching MANY videos and documentaries about both bands i would have to say that Steely Dan, BY FAR, is the most meticulous band ive seen in terms of how much they wanted their songs to sound absolutely perfect. ive never seen or heard another band like Steely Dan and i probably never will. I just want to that Brooklyn Charmers for doing such a fucking amazing job at recreating these SD songs. i was literally blown away. when i first saw you guys i was like "oh its another cover band"... but no, i was wrong... they did absolutely amazing. i could watch them play live for days. i hope people appreciate how much (obvious) hard work these guys put into remaking these songs. i wish i could give more than just one thumbs up... you guys deserve 1000... thank you.
All I will say is Rush was only a 3 piece band, did extremely little overdubbing and very seldomly had anyone sit in with them. SD would trade out half the group just for a song. Not knocking them for it, they wanted what they wanted. Just hard to compare the two.
Very impressive rendition of this Steely Dan gem. It is surprising that they didn't play this one live more than a handful of times. Certainly one of my all-time faves.
Yes a truly underrated SD gem that you guys have done great justice. I heard a lot of nuance in there that tells me you’ve done your homework. Thanks for keeping this great music alive and thanks for making an older guy’s day!
These guys are great. Masterful renditions. Tight. Another great Chicago band. However, I don’t understand why they don’t create their own music now. Surely the BC’s proved themselves.
“Hello one and all”. What a choice album cut. I’ve seen SD the only two times they’ve played in Sydney and I must say I’m enjoying your versions just as much! Well done Brooklyn Charmers 🖖👏👏
You did one of my favorite Steely Dan songs justice. As a fan of this music for almost 50 years and playing this song in my car at full blast many times you pulled off the true feeling this song gives. Great job.
It's great to see your generation have the appreciation for the iconic legend that Steely Dan is.. you guys nailed this with perfection and I have no doubt Don Fagen would be impressed.
Holy big black cow! I have not heard this song in probably 20 years... and I'd kind of lost track of how much I like it. And you guys absolutely, totally NAILED IT. Wow!
Very Nice ! I was ( ha ha ha ) trying to think and listen for any flaws...the way Donald and Walter would... and i was hard pressed to find ONE !!! Very Nice !
You guys are great and covering one of the best bands of all time makes ya s shine !!!!!! Every cover you guys do is fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!!! Best band I have heard in a long time !!!!!!!!!! Rock on boys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's funny is I'm listening to my "new" ham radio right now on the 40 meter band, while this song is playing. Been a Dan fan since I was 15. Glad it is being introduced to new audiences by the excellent work of the Brooklyn Charmers. Your hard work and precision is appreciated.
BAD ASS! Yiu guys nailed it. That "... might as well die" part was a very creative approximation of the effect of the feedback crescendo on the album version. You guys rock!
You guys are Excellent! Every single part, and every nuance/detail, just nailed, in a deep cut Classic that I’ve loved for over 40 years! Thanks for posting it!
Wow, this is REALLY good, blows away my acoustic version. They may have done this on purpose, but the 1st line of verse 2 should be "I won't take your bread".
Well done Men , I have to be honest but I was skeptical when I came across this. After watching I’ll be getting tix for your show in New Hope in June. Thank you for posting , it was magical to watch !!!
These songs don’t exist anymore. So glad to have been a part of this musical era.
As a Fan of The Dan for over 40 years, I have to say, This is Outstanding ! I love it.
I agree
Great cover!
Couldn’t agree more brother 🎹🎸🥁
These boys did their homework. Amazing rendition of a Steely Dan sleeper classic.
Right on. Don’t criticize or say “I wish they’d done -“. Appreciate the serious chops that it takes to do this so well.
Amen.
True
Word
Very well spoken!
Make me
This is not an easy song to reproduce live given it was done in a studio by virtuoso players, so I will give credit where it is due...
Excellent job guys!
Thank you from Japan for a beautiful rendition of this hidden SD gem!
DAN man since 1972... 8th grade REELIN IN THE YEARS. My Dad, trying to be hip w us would say well are you ? We'd say are we what? Are you Reelin in the years?? Great times the 70s...
Oh and yall did an Excellent Job all around, til the guitar outro had me going crazy happy that was SUPERRRRRB!!
74 myself, they are the best. I saw them in New Orleans in 2014 on 3 days rest. I was on my feat for the entire 2 hrs how, with Hieniken in hand!😊😊
Got to see Skunk and Denny tear this song a new one in April 1974 at the U. of Toledo. This is as close to that as I'm ever gonna hear!
My favorite Steely Dan song- and you guys nailed it.
This song puts chills down my spine. These guitars players nail it.
Mine too! They did
Wow that was great!
Mine too!
Those final 2 solos were the truth
Wish it lasted for more..

best Steely Dan cover band out there! 5 players sound better than some 8 piece bands with a full horn section and 3 backup singers. Super job!
Faith in humanity restored
5 minutes 13 seconds ago...i was feeling kinda shitty... NOW i am feeling just fine. Thank you guys !
My favorite SD song done to perfection.
As a long time Steely Dan I am blown away by your cover of their songs. You are truly gifted.

I'm sorry you were literally blown away. Hopefully, you were able to find your way back.
Steely Dan is far more harmonically complex musically than Rush! Rush does not use 11 raised 7th chords, etc.
Steely Dan's chords are far more complex than Rush's chords!!
@@namemason6974 ROTFLMAO
Very impressive rendition of this Steely Dan gem. It is surprising that they didn't play this one live more than a handful of times. Certainly one of my all-time faves.
I closed my eyes for the first minute of this track.... these guys fucking nailed it. Wow.

WOW!!!!!!!!😎
Very different to the Dan's later material, but I still love those first two albums. Your Gold Teeth would be a good track to cover.
Did you realize your wish has been fulfilled concerning Your gold teeth (11 months ago - Your gold teeth I & II by Brooklyn Charmers).
Amazing. Great job, guys.
