Yes, definitely! When I became impatient with the process it helped keep me focussed on the end goal. I was pleasantly surprised the day I had the last of the dye cut off. My hair looked and felt better than I ever expected.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! To be fair, I think I forgot to ask for ages on the Facebook post 😬 where I originally requested photos (so a lot of the ladies didn’t know they were supposed to give their ages) and then I ran out of time to go back and ask them ❤️
Just found your channel and I'm really loving it. I'm 72 and started going gray from having dyed hair from the first month of the pandemic. One of the best things I ever did. And like you said I look so much better and it's so more flattering to have that softness around your face rather than the dark color.
I'm only 2 months in and found this to be so inspiring! I'm finding it so fun to transition! I'm 55 and have colored my hair since i was 15. I have no idea WHAT color my hair is lol! So far it looks like it might be salt and pepper with a white patch in front. So fun!
there is no feeling like it. Free, healthy, and relaxed. Like, "let them think what they want... let them like it or not....we're doing this!!!!! " thanks Katie for helping to blaze the trail!!!
OMG. Every single one of these ladies looks amazing!!! I’m 55+ thinking of going naturally gray…but the grays first appeared when I was in my 30s. Looking at the beautiful younger women who shared their photos her, I should have embraced my gray MUCH sooner!
Love these videos. Your hair is gorgeous too. I'm 12 months into it, and I did a bob haircut! Liberated at 41 years old. 25 years of box dye - bye-bye 😊❤
This made me cry. So many of these women helped me tremendously as I struggled to make the decision and go through the transition from dark brown to my natural silver. My long, think, curly dark hair was always my most obvious and talked about feature. The name I was given in sign language was the sign for B while making the motion for curly hair. So my dark hair was literally part of my identity. I've had grey hairs since I was 5 and started dying my hair at 22, right at the same time I got married, cut my long hair off, and gained 80 lbs in one year. At 46, I started unearthing myself after being buried in many ways for years. Going to my natural silver was one of my first steps. It was this community of women who kept me going when the skunk stripe was in its worst phase and when I was adjusting to no longer being a brunette, which had been such a part of my identity. Thank you all who went before me and shared your journeys. And BTW, I get compliments on my curly silver slightly less thick due to menopause hair all the time! The most surprising group who comments on it is young men LOL.
I’m so happy that things have worked out so beautifully for you with your gray hair. And that this community was able to be there for you. ♥️ I’ve noticed that young men are some of the biggest fans of gray hair - and older men and young women too!
Thank you, your video has given me the confidence to continue with my transformation. Being 39, I have worried that I was too young, but seeing women in your video of a similar age or younger has lifted my confidence. xx
I was a brunette with pale skin and eyes. In my 30's went blonde. I went brunette one more time about 6 years ago but far too difficult to keep. I'm 6 months no colour and what shocks me is how dark my hair is with lovely silver highlites around my face. I wish that I had never coloured my hair as I would have enjoyed years of the deep shade that I so missed. 🩶
@@1ajtg I’m similar, spent years hiding lovely dark brown hair under various colours of hair Dye! Thankfully dark and gray look great together. Not used dye in 8 months.
Hi Katie, I've often thought about maybe letting my hair grow out to its gray ... but for all the reasons you mention on your videos, I gave up. I've only tried twice .. but thought about it many many times. I'm 61 and have been blessed with younger genes, so I've been told ;) But now I am noticing some aging on my face and skin and want to embrace it. I saw your video on the dye stripe method and I think it may be fantastic ... I've decided I'm going to give it a try ;) Thanks a bunch!! Donna from Ontario
wow i find it strange that some women won't say how old they are. Be thankful that you are one of the lucky ones to get older!!! Some people don't get that. Love all the gray hair! i am gray myself at 53 and i love it!
I like...my journey just started...I made the decision 8/10/2024...let the journey begin...I say 2-3 years of patience...I look at my hair every day now...
Idk if they look "younger" necessarily, but they all do look better. Maybe bc the hair dye wasn't complimentary to their complexions. That's an important question... Do we want to look like we're trying to look younger... or Do we want to look like our best most vibrant version of ourselves as we age?
I noticed my first gray hair at 14 and by the time I was in my late 20's, I had almost 50% gray hair. Now I am 52. I went all natural almost 10 years ago and I looked older. My face looked so young still so I wasn't ready to look that old. At 52, my face still looks young but my neck is getting the waddle, my marionette lines are more prominent, and it's obvious that I am not 25 or 30 anymore. I am not ready to look older and after looking at thousands of these before and after pictures, about 98% of the beautiful, vibrant women do look older after going natural. I also noticed that almost all of the brunettes were coloring their hair way too dark before they went natural. I just think that most people look better with PROFESSIONAL color. Dimensional color. I think theres a compromise in between the typical overdone all over color and completely all natural white/gray hair.
So crazy how long this myth lasted, that grey hair makes you look older. Actually, aging authentically and gracefully is empowering. Why do we try so hard to look younger? It only ends up looking fake. I embraced my white hair at age 55 and never looked back. Like all hair, you just need to take proper care of it and of course it will look great!
I'm really on the fence. True, most of the ladies looked amazing. Some looked younger or the same. Some I thought looked older. I'm more confused than ever.
i made it to 7 months couldnt stand it, i did not want to dye again so i cut off all the dye, that was 5 months ago i am still growing it out my looks keep changing as it grows. . it is a hard jounrney harder for some than others takes some several tries but that is all ok everyone is different.
Absolutely amazing transformations. Every single photo made me smile. I'm only 6 months in and feeling liberated. I do have my difficult days, I wash it and redo and that makes me feel better 🩶 The photos are definitely inspiring!
IF you went gray, did you find looking at gray hair photos helpful? Let me know!
Yes! I found my courage to go gray by looking at other womens photos and reading their stories on Instagram. So inspiring! 🩶
Yes, definitely! When I became impatient with the process it helped keep me focussed on the end goal. I was pleasantly surprised the day I had the last of the dye cut off. My hair looked and felt better than I ever expected.
I feel that grey hair is much more complentary to their complexions too! They all look fabulous.
Agree 100%!
Almost makes them look younger?❤
It's crazy how many look younger with gray 👏👏
Yes!!
Ty! I'm 53 and haven't colour my hair in four months. And I like my silver coming in!
Wonderful!
I did it. With three inches of white roots; I cut my dyed hair. I just got sick and tired. I'm so proud . The cut is so cute.
Congratulations! I bet you feel great ♥️
Beautiful ladies, and thank you to the ones who allowed us to know their age, you are especially inspiring!

Hi Katie, These pictures of so many lovely "silver sisters" women were SO inspiring! They further cement my resolve to keep my silver!
I’m so happy to hear that, Linda!
Yes, looking at gray hair photos was what gave me the courage to continue my grow out on the difficult days! 🩶
Wonderful!
All very beautiful. My attention was drawn to the silver though. It’s so stunning.

Great attitude!
Thanks for putting this together Katie. All the ladies look great with their silver hair!
Glad you enjoyed it, Loretta!

You were right! You said the women looked better with natural grays! I’m a believer now!
Thanks!
I looked at a LOT of grey hair photos!
YOU were a great inspiration to me also Katie!!!
I think you were maybe a year ahead of me or so.❤
I’m so glad I could inspire you! I had a woman who really inspired me when I was going gray and it helps so much!

Wonderful! And regarding how old they are, that was partly my fault - I forgot to ask some of them at first 😩
We do look better in grey!!! I forgot to send you my age so I’ll add it here: Jassy was 42 in the before picture and now 49!
Thanks, Jassy!
All your case are better mam, because i got gray hairs after 20 & after 27 started using hair dye. Now 30 full a gray hair 😢
I was probably fully gray by 30 too. It doesn't have to be sad thing - I often wish now i had just let it go fully gray and enjoyed every stage.
Does box hair make you gray faster?? 😊
I started getting grey very young. I definitely still dyed it in my 30s.
Depends on the hairstyle. the Kate plus 8 hairdo is aging no matte the shade/tone
Oh, I forgot about that haircut. Yes, it's not flattering on any one of any age!
@@KatieGoesPlatinum Right? I'm all for choice at any age, but the bad pixie?

It's a fun obsession! 🙂
There are ways to transition so that there isn't a harsh line of demarcation. It blends so that the hair looks good through the process.
@kitschmygrits4836 I like the natural transition...

I will say this, when some women lie about their age it's absurd. The women who do that are in denial and aren't being authentic 😄👌
I get what you’re saying but I don’t judge them - there’s a lot of pressure to look young in our culture, unfortunately.
They all look better, but the grey made most of them look older imo.
I'm really on the fence. True, most of the ladies looked amazing. Some looked younger or the same. Some I thought looked older. I'm more confused than ever.
It’s just such a personal choice. Just remember that clothing, make up, and hair styles can also influence how youthful a person looks.
i think the few who may have looked older wasnt the color but the style didnt really suit them all in all they looked great
@@mrbadmeanie8281 no hate. I'm 2 months into the journey, but some days I'm not sure if I'm ready.
