Hello and welcome back to my fixer-upper whole house remodel project! Today's episode includes part 1 of the laundry room remodel. Not sure what I've gotten myself into but I just purchased this fixer-upper and I'm going to be remodeling the entire thing and filming the process. Feel free to follow along! This is my first time flipping a house but I have a feeling by the end of the process I'll want to stick around for a while so we'll see what happens. Subscribe and stay tuned for the next episode! If you have any questions, concerns, or advice, I would love to hear it! Let me know in the comments what you think.

Nice job! It went from a dingy, basement looking room to an actual laundry! Can't wait to see how you finish the floors and doors. About those curtains: always hang curtains higher and wider than you think you need, and leave them as long as you can. They don't have to drag on the ground, but I think you have room for a foot or two more there. It will make the room look bigger and brighter. The way they are now, they make the room appear underground, and the window looks small. Practicality wise, a couple nice big shelves above the machines will be a great space to store all laundry supplies, and a place to put decorative elements to personalize the space. If they are front loaders, a counter on top of them will make a great space to sort and fold.

Yeah I totally agree, they definitely need to be longer! Thanks for the advise :)

Great job! That was quite the transformation. We're currently working through finishing our 1940s basement and the laundry area is one area that I'll be excited to spruce up.

I was hoping that closet-thing wouldn't stay. A lot of older homes got closets built in, in the 50s-70s for more storage, but they're rarely optimized, end up *too* big, and usually just add troubles. Room looks so much bigger, without it. Nice use of olive in an unusual place, and if you can't have fun with trim in your own house, where can you? Your work on the arch turned out really nice, and I love the old look to the doorway's new cap trim.

Another time you would pack out the first layer of drywall (on the arch wall) so you end up flush. Great vids 🙂

Just curious: did you check the structures for mold/moistness/damage before doing all that work? :) Br, non-pro.

I was hoping you were going to get rid of the arch.
But I guess it might go with some other archways in the house.
