A lot of it is because of all the people shorting the market. They got squeezed. It's never that easy. If everyone is saying something is going to happen, it almost always doesn't happen.
1) Institutional investors can't make much money on bonds bc Fed is buying them up, 2) tail risk of COVID-19 is gone, 3) trillions in stimulus implies inflation will push up all prices, 4) make a DCF for a lot of businesses: assume zero profit in the next 12 months but won't go bankrupt + assume they should be valued at, say, 85% of peak value -- many stock prices still look low. Even if you have to wait 12-18 months for stock price to appreciate, it looks like a nice return in many cases. But brace for pain, bc it may be a bumpy ride.
those primary names are the ones with the biggest allocation to basic funds not just for tech but also for the S&P 500 and other 401K heavy holding funds for large caps. i just went through 5 401K and 529 accounts that my family has and i can't buy large cap funds that don't have a signiicant holding of apple, google, microsfot, etc.
i love how airlines never have to be responsible for all their bad business decisions ever again... courtesy of the taxpayer.
