Someone already hacked the RECALL and WIRED tech blog made a post about it.
Then a few days later several other hackers also hacked the RECALL, then a day later security experts and agencies said for people not to use it,
because its a bad security as they also proved that it could be uploaded onto any server remotely and that ms is lying to people as ms does save it on their servers.
as ms is teaching their AI with it. They found this out when the security agencies and experts users wireshark and found out its been calling home the entire time.
Its also saving keystrokes with a built in keylogger. This RECALL is a complete mess. Thank goodness I use Linux in a VM on a type 1 hypervisor as my daily driver.
The background music seems to be much quieter, I appreciate that!
What people didn't get is that MS if forcing biometrics for Recall. This is not good. They've got your data, now they have your biometrics all in one neat little package.
Then don't use it. It's opt in on default, my friend.
@spok22s they've had our biometrics data since fingerprints and windows hello was a thing. This is nothing new.

@spok22s for now after they stirred up a shitstorm over it then backtracked. Just like anything else they'll wait until it does down then enable it during an update and make it a default.
That’s a pretty bad take. Windows Hello has been a feature since Windows 8, and it’s functionally identical to Face ID or fingerprint readers on phones - the info stays on device. If I install a clean copy of Windows, I have to set my biometrics up from scratch.
I personally love having Windows Hello on my webcam, no need to punch in pins and long passwords.
I think HTC phone news is exciting because they haven't been relevant since the HTC One, and that phone was dope.
Phones like that are forgotten because of nicer phones like Iphone or Samsung. But I do remember having a HTC One, back in 2014. best days of my life
HTC One was a good phone, but the battery was terrible and the quality control was crap, especially the camera and charging port. (I owned it for 2 1/2 years) Loved the phone, but it gave me so much headache.

Having the Recall feature turned off by default isn't a brilliant idea, it's literally the bare minimum they could do.
listening to their customers however IS a brilliant idea.

Windows Recall should not just be opt-in, but something you will have to install separately, do we trust that it wont just "accidentally" get turned on by an update, or by a 3rd party somehow.

I had an HTC M7, M8, M9, A9. They were nice enough to give me phones for being an advocate at my workplace.
I'm happy to see a X3D variant as it was inevitable, but have they fixed the RAM issues? I had to replace my 7800x3d after its intermal memory controller failed and they said it was running EXPO.

An AMD 9800X3D has my name all over it. AMD just needs to make one. My 5900x is starting to feel a little dated but with Ryzen 9000 not far away, I'm just going to wait it out. The 9700x just doesn't feel like enough of an upgrade to justify the cost so hopefully a 9800X3D comes to market soon.
I'm on a 5800X myself, so definitely hoping for a big jump so I can increase my 1% lows

@@syndan9245 yeah, AM4. That's why we didn't upgrade to am5. Cost of mb and ram is/was to high for the performance gain in our respective use cases. This probably will change with 9000x3d.

You know what is funny, I watched a video showing it off weeks ago, it was off by default. I'm sure IT would make sure it was off. It was supposed to encrypted separately too, but they did not it seems.

How so? It has 1/3rd more MOAR and a minor clock bump, and it outperforms the 780M by a bit over 1/3rd. It's literally exactly the performance delta the specs suggest.

It's clear that AMD is doing an Intel HEDT approach, just without separating sockets. X series CPUs are very clearly shining at productivity, while X3D shines best at Gaming, while sacrificing some productivity features.
Like how an i9-10900K was better for gaming, and an i9-10980XE was better for productivity. However, this is way more clear and easy to understand. 3D = Games. No 3D = Not for games.

Don't get why so many hate on AMD gpus. They work great for me. Not to mention the way their APUs are dominating the handhelds right now.
It doesn't matter if Microsoft make recall opt in to start, they will make it opt out later. Then, you don't have a choice.

That's what they're going for. Lol. They're literally just saying this to try and save face. Most people aren't tech enthusiasts and just assume that everything is fine so by addressing one of the security issues they can try and get people to trust it. Personally I think it's a stupid idea because I don't want Microsoft taking pictures of my banking information and other personal data.

The design and engineering isn't done and tested yet. They will release it - when it's ready.
my opinion will always be that if amd wants to take more market share from nvidia
they should quit with ray tracing
build gpu's for pure raw fps and nothing else
it will make them a lot cheaper because no longer that is spending needed for development for ray tracing wich will be added to the costs for the buyer
if they can match the fps of nvidia card for cheaper
then people are left with 2 choices , expensive gpu with a bunch of features or a cheap gpu with same fps but no build in hardware features
I like your comment, but truth be told many and I mean many people want RT.
It'll be a big blow to AMD as it'll be seen as them lagging behind if they don't add RT to their GPUs
The problem with that is the shareholders. They're going to see that NVIDIA is working on raytracing as well as AI and expect the same from AMD. If AMD refuses to do so, that could leave them open for lawsuits as AMD is legally obligated to promote constant growth for the shareholders and not looking competitive on features will just support that argument. I think AMD's better strategy is to try and dominate the low-mid range where most people shop, and keep the prices low to keep NVIDIA at bay while making sure their GPU's have proper driver support on day one to keep Intel on their toes.
I want LG to come back to the phone market. I'm still bitching about the missing headphone jack and the fact that micro SD slots are quickly vanishing is also a travesty.

I think if intel would make GPU's for low end pc's they would make more sales , but if i can afford a new gaming pc with HAGS and a good cpu i will go for Nvidia or if i go for a low end pc then AMD , intel gpu's won't make it in to the high end with all the problems with older pc games and driver problems .

AMD isn't comparing it to the 7000x3d series because they know they aren't gonna be THAT much better for the price point.
The whole 9000 series will be a < 5-10% improvement over 7000 series tbh.

the npui is not new in amd graphics. my 7900 xtx contains an npu that i use for my llm on my pc. the 7950x also has an npu in there. not sure where their version is new other than they have used the npu for power saving purposes...
