Thank you for this. So many "the downfall of oshi no kos" are floating around and it's nice to see someone assess the fact that this is, at the end of the day, a tragedy. Aqua's motivations shifted from revenge as he had nothing to live for to protection as he found something worth dying for, and while unfortunate, it is not "terrible writing" to have a protagonist fail to overcome a flaw (doing everything himself, even if others could help) if it serves the story being told. I went in to this story expecting to not like it, only bothering to try it because of Akasaka's existing work. It's now in my top 10 for anime/manga. I think the ending, while not technically perfect, hit on the themes of the show in a big way. Consider me interested in your opinions going forward!
Thank you for checking out my video and sharing your thoughts as well! I agree that it was not perfect but the objective as I understood it was achieved. Many moments caught me off guard and went in directions I was not anticipating but overall, I enjoyed it very much as a complete piece of art. I will be looking forward to his new work this year. I hope I can provide more videos of interests in the future. Appreciate you!
Excellent video! I think I agree with every single point you made. The only extra thing I wish we had more answers for was the deity character and who they are. I felt like they showed up sparingly, dropped some interesting lines and lore tidbits, but then refused to elaborate. Other than that, though, Aqua's sacrifice felt very fitting to me. Kana's reaction, too... poor girl. Other than Ruby, I truly feel the worst for Akane. She's loved Aqua so long, and did so much for him. Anyways, Ramble aside, I know the anime is going to take this and elevate it, so I'm very much looking forward to that!
The deity was that crow if you recall that Sarina and Goro saved and they gave Sarina and Goro a new walk at life as Ruby and Aqua. The way they made their appearance though was kind of weird and their involvement was even stranger. Yeah you can tell Akane always loved him despite trying to let Kana take him in the end but bad news for everyone is that no one got him and they had to go on with their lives. I cannot wait for the anime to hopefully fill more space in the end and I think it will talk only 2-3 more seasons to finish adapting it since its a short series. Thanks for watching and chiming in! I did NOT know you were reading this. I need to see what else you are reading.
Great job! Uncle Phuc here. In the end, Ruby is unhappy and will probably never be happy. But she’ll still live out her dream. Her dream was a shallow one. Or maybe better word is ephemeral. This is an important point throughout the story: Life in the spotlight is fleeting. Is it worth it to keep struggling to stay in that light, or is it better to accomplish something meaningful, lasting, and final? Goro/Aqua lived his lives as a helper. That was his nature. His seemingly sudden decision to abandon his dreams as Aqua and take his own life to ensure that Ruby could pursue her dream was him being true to himself. I did like the ending, though I also hated it. It’s a brilliant story with a brilliant resolution, but like you, I needed more time after Aqua’s death-especially with Kana. My heart broke for her the most.
Thanks for watching! Appreciate you. That's true about Aqua. At the end of the day, it was in his nature to help them. Ruby really became like her mother at the end of the day...in the saddest ways too. There was a lot of irony to her ending but not enough time to process. Yeah....I would have loved to see more of Kana but her feelings and narrative was so clear that I understood every scene we got from her.
i would watch this but i'm an anime only for the title right now and don't wish to be spoiled but will have the vid playing in the back ground on mute to give you the view
