hey so heres a run down of jimins personal story that we know of as fans but dont know all the details and as you go deeper youll understand him on the same level as us but just to break it down. when bts first debuted the ceo had this in mind "i want to change the industry i hated how artists are treated and i wanna make a change" im paraphrasing i dont remember the exact words he used but it was something like this because he himself is a music producer and he used to work at big kpop labels producing for other groups and solo artists and he didnt like how those labels treated their artists so he decided to form his own label and make a difference however it was difficult especially in the early 2000s due to how competitive the industry is so he had to compromise with his original intentions by adapting and using /some/ strategies other labels use. things like for image the idols have to be well behaved good kids, they do have to diet but not as harshly, they do have some roles given to them but each idol has the freedom and opportunity to grow into real artists so like you saw in the guide rm jhope and suga are rappers and v, jimin, jin and jungkook are singers. because they are a hip hop group rm and suga stayed in their original roles, jhope a dancer learned how to rap, jimin, v , jungkook and jin learned how to sing. jimin and jin didnt sing before joining the label so like in a way they were told to be singers however they clearly wanted to otherwise they wouldnt have stayed. so its not really being forced. however when it came to image as in persona and physical image they did need to diet and jin and jimin had to have this cool manly personas the other members also had them but it was really jin and jimin the most. so in older clips you see jins not really his goofy self he is now because the label told him since hes handsome he should give off a cold and mysterious image. and for jimin it was similar plus adding on him showing his abs. so jimin thought he needed to be this tough guy who had great abs in order to appeal to fans. over the years they stopped with the image and were able to be themselves. by 2015/2016 jin and jimin were showing their true selves but jimin really had to work hard on it as it was hard to get out of that mindset. finally in 2018 he admitted it was like this and how he finally accepts himself. while you are valid if you feel like the label was wrong many of us did too it wasnt like the other labels and they listened to the members early on how they didnt want to be this way anymore. because a lot was also by choice it wasnt /only/ by force. there were even many times documented over different content where members said things like "jimin is very hard on himself and its not even because hes being told to be. even when no one tells him he made a mistake he still feels like he did" and that comes from being perfectionists not from label pressure. so like the label is at fault to some extent but they recognized relatively early (about 3-4 years in which is early compared to other artists/groups) and made changes and they continue to adapt to what the members want which look how far its gotten them. like now for example bts wear what they want, do whatever image they want, have the choice of dieting or not and when they do think they need to diet they discuss closely with proper health professionals similar to athletes, they see therapists regularly to check on their mental health or just talk even if nothings bothering them etc bighit has made mistakes but they tried best to keep bts happy and healthy and safe. their security is taken seriously too which doesnt happen for a lot of groups. so jimins lie was born out of getting out of these unhealthy mindsets and set me free part 2 was like a continuation of lie in a way while also being about his feelings during the pandemic. all of what i said will make more sense as you go but keep a open mind when you run into traces of what you know about the kpop industry cause bts isnt resolved from everything change doesnt happen over night but bts and bighits impact has made great changes in the industry compared to years ago. also want to mention bts has renewed their contracts TWICE with bighit. this tells us that bts members like being there because there are many groups especially in recent years who have sued their labels and left as a group or broke up to get away from the labels so the fact bts renewed twice years a part means theyre conformable and well taken care of and have say in their careers and personal lives in any way they want. we can see that in the way they all have tattoos and drink on camera curse when they feel like it etc bighit may have had a few restrictions in the very early years but we can see from 2016 to now those restrictions arent there anymore.

hey so heres a run down of jimins personal story that we know of as fans but dont know all the details and as you go deeper youll understand him on the same level as us but just to break it down. when bts first debuted the ceo had this in mind "i want to change the industry i hated how artists are treated and i wanna make a change" im paraphrasing i dont remember the exact words he used but it was something like this because he himself is a music producer and he used to work at big kpop labels producing for other groups and solo artists and he didnt like how those labels treated their artists so he decided to form his own label and make a difference however it was difficult especially in the early 2000s due to how competitive the industry is so he had to compromise with his original intentions by adapting and using /some/ strategies other labels use. things like for image the idols have to be well behaved good kids, they do have to diet but not as harshly, they do have some roles given to them but each idol has the freedom and opportunity to grow into real artists so like you saw in the guide rm jhope and suga are rappers and v, jimin, jin and jungkook are singers. because they are a hip hop group rm and suga stayed in their original roles, jhope a dancer learned how to rap, jimin, v , jungkook and jin learned how to sing. jimin and jin didnt sing before joining the label so like in a way they were told to be singers however they clearly wanted to otherwise they wouldnt have stayed. so its not really being forced. however when it came to image as in persona and physical image they did need to diet and jin and jimin had to have this cool manly personas the other members also had them but it was really jin and jimin the most. so in older clips you see jins not really his goofy self he is now because the label told him since hes handsome he should give off a cold and mysterious image. and for jimin it was similar plus adding on him showing his abs. so jimin thought he needed to be this tough guy who had great abs in order to appeal to fans.
over the years they stopped with the image and were able to be themselves. by 2015/2016 jin and jimin were showing their true selves but jimin really had to work hard on it as it was hard to get out of that mindset. finally in 2018 he admitted it was like this and how he finally accepts himself.
while you are valid if you feel like the label was wrong many of us did too it wasnt like the other labels and they listened to the members early on how they didnt want to be this way anymore. because a lot was also by choice it wasnt /only/ by force. there were even many times documented over different content where members said things like "jimin is very hard on himself and its not even because hes being told to be. even when no one tells him he made a mistake he still feels like he did" and that comes from being perfectionists not from label pressure. so like the label is at fault to some extent but they recognized relatively early (about 3-4 years in which is early compared to other artists/groups) and made changes and they continue to adapt to what the members want which look how far its gotten them. like now for example bts wear what they want, do whatever image they want, have the choice of dieting or not and when they do think they need to diet they discuss closely with proper health professionals similar to athletes, they see therapists regularly to check on their mental health or just talk even if nothings bothering them etc bighit has made mistakes but they tried best to keep bts happy and healthy and safe. their security is taken seriously too which doesnt happen for a lot of groups. so jimins lie was born out of getting out of these unhealthy mindsets and set me free part 2 was like a continuation of lie in a way while also being about his feelings during the pandemic. all of what i said will make more sense as you go but keep a open mind when you run into traces of what you know about the kpop industry cause bts isnt resolved from everything change doesnt happen over night but bts and bighits impact has made great changes in the industry compared to years ago.
also want to mention bts has renewed their contracts TWICE with bighit. this tells us that bts members like being there because there are many groups especially in recent years who have sued their labels and left as a group or broke up to get away from the labels so the fact bts renewed twice years a part means theyre conformable and well taken care of and have say in their careers and personal lives in any way they want. we can see that in the way they all have tattoos and drink on camera curse when they feel like it etc bighit may have had a few restrictions in the very early years but we can see from 2016 to now those restrictions arent there anymore.

It’s a german poem by Rainer Maria Rilke, which I believe is called “Ich lebe mein leben in wachsenden ringen” (in English, “I live my life in widening circles”) 💕
