I use to do a pull pork butt and homemade BBQ sauce for my ex 7 years ago. She was a nurse and would take it to the hospital for her team and they all loved me for making it for them!!! Making this meal is so satisfying and makes all you cook it for happy !
One of my favorite things is the church services that my church does. All the music and special things we do. I always look forward to it every year. May God bless you and all our veterans this year.

My favorite thing about the holidays is being with my family and looking at christmas lights. Especially now that we have kids our oldest loves lights and get sooo excited when she sees them! we used to decorate my Oma and Opa's house each year and they were able to help the last few times, she loves the old santa light my Opa has had since my dad was little. I have several favorite memories and things I like to do during the holidays. Memories of spending time with family at my grandmothers house on Christmas Eve, watching our kids on Christmas morning, driving around town appreciating all of the decorations, and spending time with my fellow deployed Soldiers when we can’t be home with our Families.
What is the best thing about the holidays? At first I believed that I could give a simple answer, but upon thinking about it I realized it was not a simple question. The holidays are not just a time of the year, but a remote feeling that lies deep inside each of us, brought on by memories created throughout our lives. The smells comming from the kitchen. The laughter of so many of your relatives and friends filling up the empty spaces of your home. Having time to share with others a bit of yourself, and sometimes a bit of food. Feeling grateful and blessed for all that we have. Thankful for the family members and friends who are still with us, while whispering a prayer those who are not. Hoping that those who are far, are well, and we will meet soon. Never forgetting that what brings us together is our faith, our traditions, and the love we share for one another as members of the human race. Christmas is special to me because it was special to my dad who has passed away. So now Christmas makes warm memories of dad. He loved large gatherings and helping cook usually smoked ham or fried catfish. He liked untraditional meals. Every years was a different menu. He was very important to me.
What I love about the holidays....I love family, both blood and blue, and it being a time where we can just stop, put differences aside and enjoy each others company. Kent, As always, you never fail to cook something that makes my mouth water. Smoked pulled pork butt is delicious, versatile, and thankfully pretty much fool proof. I am prepping two 8 pound butts as I type this. I don't do the mayo (or mustard as some say to do), but I do rub it heavy and let it set in the fridge for a couple of days prior to smoking. I use an electric cabinet smoker with apple or cherry wood chips, and a couple of hickory chunks., and use the supplied water pan, and put the butts fat side up on racks one below the other. I start the temp out at 250 for a couple of hours and then drop to about 185 . Once the door on the cabinet smoker is closed, I only open it once halfway through to add another chunk of hickory. Seems to take about 8-10 hours. till pull apart tender. The aroma and smoke coming from the smoker tells you how it is doing. You are absolutely right about the bark. The bark is crucial to that sweet smoke kissed flavor. Mix that beautiful bark in well when pulling, and it is absolute heaven. Love your videos. I hope you, Shannon, and your four-legged assistants are well. Your videos are an excellent instruction on REAL cooking, good eating, and cowboy/western history. Thank you.

As prior active duty military including overseas deployments, and current law enforcement officer, I have missed my fair share of holidays. Wondering if you will make it to another family holiday makes you really appreciate it. This year there are so many that are unexpectedly missing family members. It just really sinks in to be nice, do a good deed, visit while you can and appreciate what you have. Also remember that your blessings come from one place, and to be grateful and give thanks always.

My favorite part of all the holidays is the blessing of sharing our fortunes with family and friends. Sharing the tastes of the past and incorporating new tastes as well. If we're really lucky, we might be able to share with someone that could use a little extra as well.

My favorite time about the holidays is 1) enjoying some much needed time off from patient care 2) Taking that precious time to help create holiday memories for our kids. This year we will all be reminiscing about past holidays growing up since we will be apart from our extended family due to Covid. The holiday spirit is what makes us whole and will help us move forward each and every day.

The best part of Christmas for me is Jesus and watching my wife's eyes light up when the grand kids get excited over presents and her good home cooking. I'm learning (trying to) how to smoke and grill like you, but I got a long way to go. This year we're doing the beef Wellington like you suggested!

After 26 years on active duty, my favorite thing about the holidays is knowing I can spend time at home with my family - relaxing, laughing, sharing, cooking our favorite holiday foods - safe in the knowledge and thankful that (at least for now) we still have the freedoms we cherish. From the heart - I'd like to wish each and every one of you a Very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. Be thankful for what we have - there are lots of people in lots of places who wish they could have what most of us take for granted.

The Best Part of the Holidays - Spending time with family, however, this year is going to be very different. Family meetings via Zoom but always will be thankful for our health and prayers for those who are sick. Plus always remembering the reason for the Season. My favorite thing about the holidays is spending time with my children.
Kent, As always, you never fail to cook something that makes my mouth water. Smoked pulled pork butt is delicious, versatile, and thankfully pretty much fool proof. I am prepping two 8 pound butts as I type this. I don't do the mayo (or mustard as some say to do), but I do rub it heavy and let it set in the fridge for a couple of days prior to smoking. I use an electric cabinet smoker with apple or cherry wood chips, and a couple of hickory chunks., and use the supplied water pan, and put the butts fat side up on racks one below the other. I start the temp out at 250 for a couple of hours and then drop to about 185 . Once the door on the cabinet smoker is closed, I only open it once halfway through to add another chunk of hickory. Seems to take about 8-10 hours. till pull apart tender. The aroma and smoke coming from the smoker tells you how it is doing. You are absolutely right about the bark. The bark is crucial to that sweet smoke kissed flavor. Mix that beautiful bark in well when pulling, and it is absolute heaven. Love your videos. I hope you, Shannon, and your four-legged assistants are well. Your videos are an excellent instruction on REAL cooking, good eating, and cowboy/western history. Thank you.

Best thing about the holidays is the time with family and friends. Always appreciate it and never take it for granted, no matter how short the visit may be. As prior active duty military including overseas deployments, and current law enforcement officer, I have missed my fair share of holidays. Wondering if you will make it to another family holiday makes you really appreciate it. This year there are so many that are unexpectedly missing family members. It just really sinks in to be nice, do a good deed, visit while you can and appreciate what you have. Also remember that your blessings come from one place, and to be grateful and give thanks always.

Best part of the holidays is having the whole family gather at my parents’ home - the place they bought over forty years ago. We’ve added nieces, nephews, kids, and grands and there’s always plenty of food and love to go around. Even though Daddy passed away a couple of years ago, we still all make time to gather at the home place and soak up the blessing of family.

What da wife and I love most about Christmas time is traveling to da kids in Texas (2) boys and enjoying a loving family with 12 grandchildren. Just seeing the kiddos tearing into all da gifts and watching da little ones getting all their wants from Santa. It don’t get no better Dan dat, I gurantold ya! We alternate every year eating da goodies at each boys home and partaking of da daughter-in-laws cooking. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

My favorite thing about the holidays is the fellowship I get to enjoy with my family. Some of whom I rarely get to see. Plus giving praise to the Lord is the most important element of Christmas. I don't need the presents but I do need the fellowship of my family.

You can make them a sandwich and say, "Oh by the way, here." I get it now. And if you give, then it can happen. Then the miracle can happen to you. My dad had a Christmas tree farm so I always get a real tree for him.
