    That’s great news. I’m just finishing a TT120 test layout with William WhiteLaw the Mallard and of course a little 08 Shunter. I’ve just fitted a zimo 6 pin sound decoder with stayalive. (Well DigiTrains did 😀) and I’ve motorised 5 points with the MP5 motors and I’ve fully automated it with the iTrain program I am getting ready to roll it out to the main layout which I’m building. I’m also using Peco flexitrack. All of this is totally new to me.
    I’m looking forward to your excellent videos on this exciting scale.

    Nice

  • @modelrailfan37
    @modelrailfan37 3 месяца назад

    This will be interesting! Personally I can’t see myself modelling in TT 120 as there isn’t much variety, and seeing as it is so close in size to N Gauge, if I ever model in a scale smaller than OO I’ve always figured I’d choose N, seeing as you can fit even more into a small space than with TT (which is the main advantage to modelling in a smaller scale), and there are way more locos, rolling stock, kits, track, etc. on the market in N than in TT. I also think that in order for TT to be successful, more manufactures will have to get involved, but seeing Hornby’s “reaction” to Heljan’s announcements in TT, I don’t really know if that will be happening, especially considering that Bachmann, Dapol and Rapido all make N Gauge models, and N gauge is so similar in size.
    I’m still interested to see what is possible in this scale though, and I am looking forward to this series!

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  3 месяца назад +1

      There's pros and cons to both TT:120 and N Gauge and in this instance TT fits the needs of the layout better then N. Though I will say that a lot of the techniques in this series will carry over the N so it should still be interesting for those modelling in that scale too.
      Just to clear something up, Hornby didn't "react" to Heljan, Heljan pulled out of their own accord. From what I've been told by other manufacturers, Hornby are trying to encourage more of them into the scale. I think it'll be a while before anyone joins them but I don't think Hornby want the scale all for themselves. Thanks for watching 😃

    • @modelrailfan37
      @modelrailfan37 3 месяца назад

      @@ThatModelRailwayGuy yep, there are pros and cons for sure!
      Oh really, I hadn’t heard that… I can see why Heljan cancelled though, as there really is no need for multiple of the same locos in such a small scale. Interesting as well that they are encouraging more manufacturers to get involved, and honestly it sounds like a step in the right direction for Hornby as a company, seeing as they have kinda become known for product duplication.
      I don’t dislike TT by any means, and definitely support the new scale, my question is just whether or not we can support a scale that is less popular and less readily available than N, and yet is around the same size. That being said, I do wish Hornby good luck, and I’d like to see another manufacturer get involved. Personally I’m betting on Dapol, seeing as they seem to like doing multiple scales! Bachmann would be a good candid as well though!!

      Not as much as you might think given that it's quite a large layout (at least for TT). Most of the expense is track and electrics but you could easily cut down the budget if you didn't want things like point motors for example.
