Genius. Writer of masterpieces. Embassytown, Perdido Street Station. Perfection. Important works.

I think Fall Of New Paris and This Census Taker are two of the best things he's ever written, even though The Bas-Lag Trilogy is very close to my heart. Fantastic writer and a staggeringly intelligent bloke. I could listen to him talk for ages.

I think the interviewer is the same man who spoke with Jordan Peterson on the news about transgenderism. I would looove to watch China Melville talk to Jordan Peterson. I honestly don’t even think Jordan Peterson would understand his vocabulary.

Peterson's IQ has been tested at about 150, predictably skewing verbal. So I doubt it.

Oh wow that would be a helluva mismatch. I don’t hate Peterson, he has come to be an important polemicist. But he continually fails to engage with that which he criticises on all but the most reductive and childishly simplified front. Especially given the volume of texts he purports to have read.
The guy went to debate Žyžek quoting about 4 sentences from the Communist Manifesto ffs.
Miéville on the other hand comes from one of the most fully fleshed and combative political traditions going. And practices critical analysis politically, litererally and professionally on a daily basis.
Although I fear if any such conversation were to appear online there would be a certain demographic of viewer who only saw what they wanted to or what they understood.

@@rebellion2054 Yep, you hit the nail on the head with that last sentence. The Zyzek debate was interesting to watch but it was more of a bromance than a debate. Zyzek didn't really go hard at Jordan.

China Melville he is a great person, as well as an excellent writer, he won't change a thing about this horrible ultra-liberal capitalism, but he remains great. An affectionate greeting from Milan Italy
