At 43:53 it looks like Phil Norman is using his hands on the Balance-Beam to steady himself which surely is not allowed in my opinion, still I can't complain Phil Norman was good overall.
I think Phil knew he had to really put in the performance of a lifetime on the Eliminator if he was going to beat Deane and indeed he did setting a new course record in the process. This must have given Phil a lot of confidence going into the final because he must have been thinking if I can beat Deane on the Eliminator I can beat anyone.
37:05 BLOODY HELL LOOK AT THE STATE OF SHADOW'S PUGIL-STICK!!! THE COVER CAME OFF ITS GOT A HUGH CRACK, DON'T THINK HE'LL BE USING THAT ONE AGAIN! PHIL NORMAN COULD WITHSTAND THE PUNISHMENT THE SHADOW'S PUGIL-STICK COULDN'T!
36:31 I think surviving 15 seconds against Shadow on duel should've awarded 5 points, going the distance against him should've given 10 points, and beating him 20.
Damn that Male Eliminator had to be one of the most nail biting ones so far, both Dean and Phil were by far the best two left on the male side of things. Shame they weren't split in the semis. They flew through the Eliminator while most are half dead by the end. Phil really was probably the best competitor In Gladiator UK, I haven't watched this in 20 years and my brother and I always remembered him cause he also won Winner's Episode (when past winners faced each other) as well I think. You can also see the major step up of the male competitors from series 1 to series 2, it's definitely a higher standard. I don't know who won the female final, but it would be funny if the stand in won the whole thing. Loved Pauline, talking about boozing and smoking her way through the whole thing while the commentator had to apologise every time lol.
32:52 - "more hits than Take That... and That" :-D PMSL when a bit of Shadow's pugil stick came off. If memory serves, it occasionally happened in Joust event as well
39:27 I think that Paula's brother is Simon Bisley, the comic book artist, 41:14 And I think that his other sister, Eunice Huthart, won series 3 and became a Gladiator.
This was by far the most thrilling men's competition the show has ever had. They are neck in neck in points all throughout and on Duel Phil realizes he needs a headstart. And he takes a savage beating to pick up 5 points. And then once again he raised his game to beat Deane on the Eliminator. That's why he became champion. Always had another gear in him.
9:51 scorpio was techincally defeated in season one. But are we not counting that because the contender in question greased her legs and removed her shoelaces which caused that to become a rule?
That was a draw. Scorpio did lose at least once in Season 1 and she lost a few times in Season 2, John Sachs liked to exaggerate Gladiator's records on events.
I was glad when Phil beat dean as the presenters and commentator was so biased for Dean, plus I thought Phil was a better all round contender. At least Shadow knew who was going to win.
Never noticed this before, but Phil (in blue) puts his foot down on the beam and so should have started again. Dean should have won!!! He was robbed! How did Jon Anderson not see it!
Unfortunately John was watching Deano lose balance at the time and didn't notice. However, I think with the extra second to start again Phil would of still got it (assuming he didn't fall a 2nd time from the start). Tough call, great contest.
I always think that Deane Hart should've come back for International Gladiators, along with maybe Gary Towers and Richard "the Iron Man of darwen" from the first episode of the second series!!!!!! Seems familiar Gary Towers ended up becoming a trainer for Gladiators after the second series, though???? Deane could've probably beaten Wesley Berry on the Eliminator, I think!!!!
In the women's powerball it looks like Jean missed a couple of chances to go for a centre basket when she was unmarked which would have made the eliminator even closer.
42:40 Whoaaaaaaa!!!!! Was Dean actually a drill sergeant??????? Ulrika might've been right that he was the kind of army man who shouted a lot, and constantly insulted the grunts!!!!!! ;*(
He was well known for comic relief on the show, he was responsible for a bit of humour to outnumber the competitiveness of both some contenders and gladiators on the show.
Paula was her own worst enemy. Very good in the games, but her lifestyle came to haunt her on the Elimimator. She had horrible stamina, even against 36-year old Jean.
Thats what happens when you smoke the ole cigarettes. Those thing f*ck your lungs.. If she had quit for the show and cut down on drinking, she would have probably won.
Remember she just came back from an unfortunate cheekbone fracture after colliding with another contender in Powerball earlier on during this series, she DID get better though until she dropped out of the show due to another dangerous neck injury during training for 'Pole-Axe'.
Never. He attacked when he had the chance. It's impossible to just attack non stop against someone that large and with that much experience at the game.
39:04 I instantly lose respect for hot women when they associate with men like that. If you ask me, they were a bad influence on her, seeing the horrible looking horned-heads on the flags in support of Paula.
You sound like a fucking weirdo to be honest. Who are you to tell people who they should associate with? I really hope you've gained a few brain cells or at least learned to blend in better with the rest of the humanoids since you wrote this.
@@MyGodLikeSpeed Given your blasphemous username, I'd say you're the weirdo, to be honest. That Duel between Shadow and Phil was fantastic. Phil really took a battering, great heart to stay up
Ruairí Ó Sé Phil didn’t attack

Well, Phil did have the power of his mullet to get himself through to the final.
Imagine if he'd not fallen off the beam, might have broken 50 seconds!
Good to see Cobra sobered up for this show.
Surely the greatest eliminator of all time? Remember watching it on itv aged 8 buzzing when Phil won 😂
The female gladiators had the most stunning figures!
So does Jean, she's beautiful!

The ladies competition was a battle of the stand ins
Jean klenk for lisa thompson and paula bisley for rowan duxbury

It was Jean who won the final. Ironic seeing as she was the sub after Lisa Thompson had to retire.
Love how Deane's plaster changes just a little bit in each episode he's in

During The Men's SKYTRAK Dean Never Used His Legs & I Think That's Where Phil Norman Had The Big Advantage Over Him

They also had 20 seconds head start, which was a long time ;)
That was a draw. Scorpio did lose at least once in Season 1 and she lost a few times in Season 2, John Sachs liked to exaggerate Gladiator's records on events.
At least Scorpio got her revenge on that contender on The Wall in the semi finals. Justice was served that day in the National Indoor Arena!
41:43 You could see in Phil's face that he was like, "Ahhhhh, but I've improved, Ully!!!!!"
9:22 So adorable.
34:45 After that last headshot, Deane was like, alright, enough of this, I'm gone.
The size of Saracen at the beginning on swingshot; that should be illegal 😊

"Yeah I'm used to my girlfriend hitting me"
Jesus, Phil, everything ok at home mate?
Either domestic abuse which of course back in the 90s wasn't talked about, particularly for men, or they have some odd games going on on Poole. 🤔
He meant doing kick boxing
Phil Norman had to Pull Out The Performance of His Life to beat Dean Hart on THE ELIMINATOR!
Amazing how Paula can go like that considering she's a drinker and a smoker.
I think she tried to prove that you can still drink and smoke and be fit and failed.
She's one a' the lads at heart
great shag too I 'spect

John Anderson should have sent Phil back to the start as he put his foot down on the beam anything else then deano would have won without any question
Best womens Powerball game so far.
Phil should have been disqualified from Duel. It was all defence.
The unwritten rule in Gladiators was that anyone who could last 30 seconds in Duel against Shadow, all defence or not, deserved 5 points!!!!
Pretty sure he gave two strikes at the start so I think that nulls that claim. plus, it's Shadow! How the heck do you demolish him in Duel?
He made a few hits.
Never. He attacked when he had the chance. It's impossible to just attack non stop against someone that large and with that much experience at the game.
I thought the same. Little to no attempt to attack. I know it’s easier said than done but all he was trying to do was block. I’m with you 100%
