I can't believe only 31596 people have seen this. The world is missing out on a gem. As a Norwegian, you made me incredible proud by showing of our extremely beautiful country in such an artistic way. Thank you.
Fantastic film. I love the fact that you are not obstrusive personally when you are filming. We know you are there, obviously, but you let the camera tell the story. The calving iceberg and subsequent wave make you mutter! I am enjoying living in Norway for 5 months and my job includes loads of research about the geology of Norway so I thoroughly enjoyed your film. Thank you.
Wow, I'm kinda speechless. I found this video because I was randomly looking at Google Maps and accidentally scrolled to far north and saw a name there (Ny-Ålesund). Googled it and found your video. Beautifully done.
@@tomdreamsbig No probs :) I was looking if there was Tesla dealers in Mexico, then went to europe on the map , then I was like, wth is that city so up north haha. Kinda weird but you have very nice cinematography. Makes me want to tourist remote places.
One of the best videos I think ive seen on youtube. I would absolutely love to experience all of this, even something as little as waiting in that airport. Really good work man.
What an amazing experience you had there. I was in Longyearbyen last November when it was all dark as I wanted to experience polar night. I really fell in love with Svalbard and I wanna go there again some time when it is bright.
You were SO blessed to have had this experience. Nice job making the footage relevant and interesting. Thanks for letting me glimpse this environment from my computer screen.
Imponerend Tom!

So beautiful! Think the average Summer temperatures must be around the same Winter morning temperatures that we have here in South Africa? About 45°F/7°C? Breathtakingly beautiful! Wish I could go there! But in Summer.
Oh my god, thank you for this. This was so beautiful and it made me cry for a bunch of reasons. I especially loved the shots of the flower seed thing blowing in the wind and the man standing in front of the glacial ice. It's not often man gets to stand face to face with living ice that is millions of years old. You're very lucky to have been able to take this trip and we are very lucky you shared it with us.
Welcome. Didn't know if you'd read it or not. Also, never stop filming the actual journey to the place. Like you on the stairs, in the hangar, bouncing on th chain link fence...these were all part of what made it feel like I actually got to go with you, in a way. Also, the boots over the water reminded me of childhood. I don't know if you consciously try to pull up these emotions and memories in people or not, but yeah..I thought it was incredible and original. Not like a regular documentary.

Great Video and music it's a special place took a helicopter S61N up to Longyearbyen from Aberdeen Bristow Helicopters and stayed 3 months one day would like to go back
Man I have always wanted to go to these places. You are so lucky and I am so jealous! lol. One question I had though. I was always told that Alert in Nunavut Canada was the northernmost town on Earth. I mean I guess when you get that far north it's not a huge deal. Do you know which one is further north?
Matthew Martin Hi Matthew! Thanks for watching! Don't be jealous. Be inspired, and do it yourself! Ny Alesund really is the Northern most! ;) cheers man
Alert (and a handful of other places) ARE further north, but these are permanently settled research stations. While places like Alert and Nord in Greenland do have a fixed and permanent population of a certain number, the individuals of this population rotate in tours/shifts because they are scientists. Ny-Alesund is the farthest north settlement that is a town first--though a big employer is companies that build research stations, so if you want to find the farthest North town whose population is there largely in spite of research purposes, I wonder if I'd include N-A, but I suppose it counts, because it is a town first. Dogfoot23 also has a point about whiteness in viewing these settlements that must also be kept in mind.
But for all practical purposes, from what I can find, Longyearbyen is the most northern accessible, real town. N-A was built as a coal miner's town and has sort of developed into a quasi-research station. Longyearbyen is the farthest north inhabited place that would fit my definition as the northernmost place that is *primarily* a town. But if we are being looser with our definitions, Alert Research Station is the northernmost place on Earth with a permanent population.
Hi, can you tell me the name of the place where the foxes were in your video at about 4:20--- Thank you! Are they common at that place where you filmed them? In march maybe as well? Thank you!

One day you're going to have millions of views. Keep up the good work. The music and editing, as well shots are right on point. However, the absolute record for the northernmost place on earth where there are buildings and a permanent human presence is the Canadian military communications and weather station of *Alert,* also on Ellesmere Island, which is a full three and a half latitude degrees further north than Ny-Ålesund, and little more than 800 km from the North Pole. I'm surprised there's not some limited tourism there. There would be demand.
There's a lot of tourism on Svalbard in general though.
